When will it stop?

Well out little man has cut his first tooth 3 days before 5 months of age.
My question is... When does it hurt them? Is it only on the way up? Is it just until it breaks through the gum or does it continue to hurt until it's all the way out?

It believe it hurts most when they're cutting through the gum. That said, for me, Raleigh's teeth have generally come in twos. 24 hours after the first bottom one (about a week before she was 5 months old) came through, the second was there. The same with her top two at just shy of 7 months. She's now got the incisor next to the first one on the left hand side through and recently the one on the right hand side poked its head through but the gum is so swollen that the tooth doesn't look like its broken through. Raleigh is also super crusty because I can feel sharp spikes on her gums all the way around. Its almost as if she wants to get them all out at once :eek: :eek:
