I just saw this recall in the paper this morning. Checked out their website and lo & behold, our swingset is one of those on the list.

So I thought I'd let other hubbers know. The website says if you have a product affected by the recall they will organise a free replacement.

Check out the product recall here. (http://www.onlinedirect.hills.com.au/arbitrage/pages/73)

Don't worry guys, I was peeved too, but I was somewhat mollified by the fact that we'll be getting delivered all brand new replacement parts courtesy of Hills.

We've had our set since late last year and a few weeks ago the baby swing seat broke(screw broke through the plastic) and DD fell on the ground. I didn't even think about it being faulty until I read this, thought we must have put it together wrong/something.
Thankyou:thumbsup:
PS Could I sue for DD's hurt and humiliation at being dumped on the ground:D

Thanks for this. I didn't even know it was on recall. I have noticed how faded the seats were and that they are starting to crack and it isn't even 5 months old.

Thanks again

from Paula and Grace(a fairly cranky almost 3 year old who wants to swing all day long:D )

Bugger, ours is about a year old, and has the dates 'Replace by Oct 2008' not 09 or 10, but has cracked faster than i would have thought....was hoping it might have been on that list! :o

At least they're sending you all new parts! :yelclap:

We have that one too but we are moving to Canada in two weeks. I wonder if I would receive the parts by then.

Did you have to give them the old parts back or just throw them away?

Hmm you could be pushing it on that as most seem to have taken 6-8 weeks.

When I took mine off (and threw them out) to put the new ones on, I noticed that each one has an expiry date on it that is supposed to be 5 years from when that model was purchased. What the recall seemed to be about was that somehow they had accidently included seat parts that only had 3 years til they hit the expiry date and not the 5 that their warranty covers.

I just noticed the other day that our hills swing set that we bought in sep 07 has already started to crack on the toddler seat one of the screws have broken the plastic so we will be contacting hills as well.

Thanks so much MrsMiggins for starting this thread. I used the link to website and completed application and had my replacement parts within 3 weeks. Very efficient! Slight problem, when will my DH get around to replacing the old broken parts
