BBH Hemp

First, have never posted on this forum but you are all the reason I purchased MCN in anticipation of my DS's birth and have been using them (with posies for outings) since he was 6 weeks old. Before that he was just too small for the ones I'd bought. So a big THANK YOU to all of you!

Anyway....was just wondering if anyone has tried any recently made BBB hemp nappies and how they think it compares to the original model.

Recently received my BBB order and was just about to call and say they got my order wrong when I realised that there actually were hemp nappies in my order - they just looked and felt alot more like the bamboo rather than the courser material I was used to. Not sure when the material changed as my other BBB hemp were bought on ebay. I do like the feel of the new hemp ones and still feel quite soft after being in the sun all day but had grown quite fond of my older ones!

Also, I have noticed DS has a rash over the cheeks of his little bottom as well as where the leg and waist bands sit since using the new nappies. Am hoping this is just because the nappies are new and not as absorbant so leaving his skin wetter than they will once they've had a few more washes? Have bought some polar fleece so may cut out some liners and see if that makes a difference in the meantime.

I was the other way, got the new ones first, then bought some second hand ones, and thought "what the..." I like the new ones better, so much softer, and I find them heaps more absorbent then the old ones.

The older version definitely benefits from a spin in the dryer to soften them up a bit!

I'm kinda tempted to try one of the new BBHs... I've never been keen on hemp, but these ones sound nice.

The only thing stopping me is that my hemparoo's (hemp fleece pre-folds/inserts, I use them in GKs) are also hemp fleece- and while they started off very lush and soft, they fast became hard and scratchy.

Would these be the same? It's 55%hemp/45%cotton, isn't it?

oh I hope not, its sooo nice and soft.... cant check right now, as its in the nappy bucket lol.

I find the old ones not very absorbent though, they dont last very long. Have just bought some microfibre cloths, am going to try and put that under the snap in.

i only have 2 old BBH cause they always ended up quite rough after washing

but i want to get a new one to see how they go.

but i do love the bamboo!
