Hi

DS is nearly 20 months old and just before his first birthday finally got diagnosed with reflux. Since then we have done and gastrocopic procdure done and he has been diagnosed with GORDS.

Every meal time is almos a battle ith him more often than not refusing to eat, unless it is pureed or custard. He wont feed himself and has also worked out if he puts his drink in his mouth he doesn't have to eat. It got to the stage tonight after 20 mintues of trying to eat is vegies, I got angry and then ended up locking myself in our bedroom in tears over the whole eating thing.

How long does it last?? Will he grow out of it??? WHAT DO I DO???????? I am not sure how much moe of this I can take.

hi belinda

i have 14 month old that also has servere GORD so i know what you are going through its so hard

as for the feeding, has your son seen a feeding therapist they can be realy helpfull in a lot of cases not so in my dd case as she has other digestion issues other than gord but i do know of a lot of cases where the feeding therapists have really helped if you contact the childrens hospital that your pead GI works out of they will either have a speechy team there with a feeding therapist or can recomend you one

Aslo maybe talk to the pead about getting a video swallow study done to see if there are any underlying swallowing issues as that can play a major part in it, also what test has the GI done has delayed gastric emtying been ruled out if not maybe get them to do a gastric emptying study as that again can play a major part in food aversion

what state do you live in if your in perth your son probably sees the same pead GI as my dd

Hi

We live in QLD

I have aksed for a referal to a speech through our Paed GI, but am still waiting to hear from them. I will have to contact them to see what has happened with it.

He has had a Gastocospic procedure sone earlier this year. Everything looked really good expect some infamation in his intestine.

Thanks for the advice
