A girl friend is going home to the states on the 6th June to see her family before her bub is born in November and she is still able to travel and guess who is going with her………………..ME :yelclap:

I am so scared we are leaving on the 6th June and returning on the 22th June.

I have never been away on a holiday without DH before and I am so nervous, but excited at the same time. I can’t wait but I wish it was both of us going, part of me feels guilty about experiencing this all with out him, but he wants me to go and take these opportunities when they come up.

I can’t believe it, the 6th is only 17 days away. We have got our tickets all I need to do is get some travellers cheques and get on that plane.

Has anyone gone on a holiday without there partner before, and how did you survive the flight? these are my two fears and I am one for getting over fears.

Depends where in the US you are going but I have been to mainland 4 times and Hawaii 5 times - love love love it!! Everything is HUGE - meals, shopping centres, cars etc. People are really friendly, on the whole it is a really easy place to get around. Don't forget to tip - the service is always pretty good so you don't mind slinging the service staff a dollar as a tip.

Have a great time. Shopping is normally really great too - there are some great chain stores - Walmart, Sears, SuperK, Target as well as others like Ross Dress for Less which are unreal for cheap bargains.

Don’t be nervous I am sure you will have a wonderful time!!

I have been to the states numerous times with my DH plus when I was younger with my parents and alone! Loved my hoilday/visit there each and very time!!

I often fly overseas without my DH due to work, I usually just read, sleep and eat on the plane…I do miss him when I am way, but thanks to modern technology we are able to keep in touch via emails, phone & web-chats. Remember distance make the heart grow strongerValentine (corny I know…but true:yes:)

Beside you won’t be alone will have your friend right next to you the whole flight!!:D Don’t stress and have a wonderful holiday!

Thank you so much, I am looking forward to my trip, only 16 days to go. I am feel OK, still sad that DH is not coming with me, but trying to keep positive and looking forward to all the things we will be doing.

My friends family lives in Sheridan, so this is where we will be spending most of our time, but she has been telling me the sort of things we could do, things like;

We could go to South Dakota (three to four hour drive depending on where we go, with stops along the way) and go to Deadwood (which is the little old western gambling town), go see Mount Rushmore, and visit Devil's Tower.
We could go to the mountains around her home town and either see about "camping" or we could even stay at one of the lodges on the mountain. Her mum also mentioned that we could take her 4-wheelers out and go for some trekking around in the mountains and see some sites (waterfalls, etc)
We can go visit her dad in Montana (about a four hour drive from Sheridan) and there we can go floating on the river, go to the natural hot springs, and look at spending a day driving around Yellowstone.
And so much moreI keep telling my friend that she needs to take care of herself and not over do it as she will be about 17 weeks pregnant by then, but she thinks it will be all fine, but it all sounds so exciting.

Her mum sent me an email the other day and also said that she has planned a home coming party for her daughter and also a baby shower, so much to do and we are only going to be there for about 3 weeks.

Starting to get excited now.

Thank you for your advice and if you can keep it coming :)

What a great experience it will be. I have been to the states before and really loved it. It will be great going with someone that knows the place and can show you around. I say enjoy it and don't get homesick. It is for such a short time.

Thank you so much for your kind words and support it has been wonderful and helped so much.:hugs:

Only 11 more days til I am going to be on that 14hr flight, OMG 11 days!! Wow, I am starting to get rather excited, but I am trying not to think about it to much as I don't want to make myself sick with nerves, but I am surprise on how well I am doing, I thought I would be a nerves reck by now, but I'm not and DH is so wonderful he is so supportive and great about the whole thing, I guess this is what is making it that much easier.

With the counting down of days, in two days I will be in single digits, wow, it has happened so fast and wow, that is I can say is WOW :)
