View Full Version : Hair Loss.....
:(
Hi all
My bubba girl is now just over three months old -everything is going good with her. But its me ... my hair on my head is coming out buy the bucket loads :( I mean Im not balding or anything - but I reckon it has gotten thinner in thickness. I know that you are supposed to 'lose 100 hairs a day' but this is more ... way more. I knew that during pregnancy the hormones in your body could trigger a form of hairloss ... but wasn't sure if it was too common for post pregnancy??
I don't think that I need to run off down to the wig store just yet just wondering if anyone else been through it?

I lost hair by the handful after no2 was born. He's nearly 10 months old and I still loose it but not to the same extent.
Like everything else, it's probably a hormone thing!
Hi petal
I'm going through the same thing at the moment as bubs is just over three months old.
Don't worry too much, It's quite normal to have "extra" hair loss 3 months after giving birth. The reason for this is that when you are pregnant, the hormone progesterone prevents you from losing your "100 hairs a day" ie your hair doesn't fall out and actually becomes thicker. I think it takes about three months for your body to get itself back in alignment and so you actually lose all the hair that you didn't shed all at once! So it seems like you're losing a lot of hair, which you are, but you will not go bald. It will settle after a few weeks.

Hi Brooke,
I posted this same question a couple of months ago - I was freaking out.
Taiya is 6 months old and I am still losing my hair by the bucketload. I am not balding (thank god)
I have been told by hairdressers it is completely normal.
I am used to it now (although my husband still gets peeved off with blonde hair everywhere!)
Same here. When DS was 3 months old my hair started to fall out. He is 5 months tomorrow and I can't tell if the hair loss is slowing down or I am just used it it by now. If I am staying home and not expecting any visitors, I usually don't brush it, just smooth it back and clip it all up. (Dead straight anyway.) Got to keep it out of DS reach!

Same here... Its all normal... Spoke to my hairdresser when bubs was about 5 months and he said that because I was breastfeeding, its normal.. I am still breastfeeding at 8 months and it is starting to slow down a bit...
