Its been raining a lot here (which is great) and the night nappies are just not getting dry. The flats are looking like a great option at this point.

I am wondering if anyone uses terry successfully on their older bub? Av is 18 months. I would rather buy a pack of terry flats than a pack of disposables. He has quite a few flats but we don't have many left that are dry and clean.
ETA - I mean for nights - what boosting do you use?

I used flats on Laura 9 years ago, right up till she was almost 2..

I used to just use back then, the kite fold, with a terry, and a flannelette folded into a booster shape, with a plastic pilcher over, or a fluffy pilcher, Id change her as late as possible, then again when Dad went to work, 5.30, then she would come to bed with me..

I know things are waaay different now, but it did the job for back then.. (lmao, Im still using the same pins..)

Thanks Jodie, that sounds like what I do during the day. I can't fold though. :o During the day no cover but at night I would use wool.

I use flats at night on DS who is 13mths but am looking into what else I can use as they are just not lasting the night anymore - he still wakes most nights for a feed which doesn't help. I boost them with 2 microfibre boosters.
What brand of MCN do you use at night normally?

Very Baby Simple Nights mostly. Always wool. I have great wool covers so that isn't a problem. I do worry about nappy rash though. Do you think that is more of a problem at night in terry?
I sometimes use silk liner at night.

I use liners too but can't remember what they are made of - maybe microfleece?? I bought the stuff from Spotlight and made my own. DS wears terry at night and during the day and doesn't get nappy rash I still do put a bit of nappy cream on him just at night though.

I used terry flats on Matthew at night when he was 2.5yrs old, but he wasn't a big wetter at that stage (which soon changed for some reason).

I'd just use the kite fold as it was the only fold that fitted him....some nights I would use 2 nappies...one on top of the other, other nights I'd just fold a face washer in thirds and use that.

I'm using terries with Scarlett for night times when our bamboo is drying..

Just use a bat fold with a BB wool cover..never had a leak yet..

I use flannelette flats origami fold boosted with a facewasher folded in half. Works well.

Don't use new nappies at night, though. Use some older ones, they will work better.

I only use flats, did for both DDs, and now for DS.

 Have a few but they are wet too! That is why I am thinking of what to use that is quick drying.

Atm Av is asleep in a Bits For Bots bamboo towelling fitted with a bamboo flat over it and wool cover so I think that would work well.

Thanks for the replies, I find it all very interesting. I will have to try for myself and see how we go in terry flat even for one night.

I have used terry flats overnight, that's pretty much the only time I use them coz they are so bulky (flannelette thru the day).
I used the terry with a microfibre cloth folded up in the middle of it. Then I folded another terry into a pad shape and put it on the outside of the nappy, then put the cover over that.
DD can soak a BBB & bamboo fold up most nights, so the terry was soaked by the morn too, but it wasn't dripping like the BBB was the time I forgot to add the fold up.

Good luck trying terries at night :) I've got DD in a sposie tonight coz all our nappies are on the line and it's been cloudy all day so they are all still wet, all I have dry is one terry and there's no way that would last the night.

For my 4 yo son (who I wish would not wee in the night!!- at least not in the bed!) I stuff a Beetlebums pocket with either bamboo flat or normal terry flat and a bamboo terry booster. Works a treat. I think that is 12 layers towelling with extra 6 layers bamboo at the front. Fantastic thing iis that it dries so quickly- I have been using the same nappy each night for about 3 mths.
