View Full Version : Isn't she beautiful?!!?
Hi,
My DS is 17 and a bit months and I whenever he is in unisex clothing everyone thinks he is a girl. I constantly get comments about how beautiful he is and today I got a comment about how she's going to break a few boys hearts when she's older.
I just let it go and don't say anything. There is no point in saying anything and embarrassing people. The lady that said that comment today asked what her name was and I said Olivia.:o
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else out there still has people getting the sex of their child wrong.

Oh no!!
I don't have anyone comment on Mac (did when she was younger ....they thought she was always a boy), but people still think Charlee is a boy at 5 mths old even when she's dressed in pink!? WT?
I'm the same though, i don't like to embarass people, but when she's in pink i will correct them.....i have gone as far as to not get any neutral coloured clothes and stick to girly ones! LOL

Ooooh I admit I have used the word 'it' a few times, how bad am I, but I only use it if I can't figure out if it's a boy or girl quickly.

lmao cosmic, geeze your gonna start some more arguements round here lol
I put DD in whatever I pick up at the time, so interesting for her first christmas photo she was in a green and blue jumpsuit. When the 'helpers' asked what my boys name was, I smiled and said cheerfully "Lillya" :p
hehehe, I doubt they were embarrassed, just had a look of concern for the 'poor boy with a girls name'
Oscars mum, I like to use "your baby".;)
Darn soy.

Oh I like that one, silly me for not even thinking of using something like that! Must be the lack of sleep! ;) Or can I use that as my reason for using the word 'it'! ;)

I did a google on soy formula (after I was told all my links were biased  ) and no kidding - a mother in a US forum actually said that to another mum who asked about soy. You heard it here first. Turns them as camp as a row of tents apparently.
She thinks she safe now......................
She's out of control. Where's your pills cosmic, have you taken them today?:p

There certainly are some real d**kheads out there
Friends of the family knitted a jumper for K and when I got it in the post, it was pink    Needless to say, I have never put it on him.
Lovely thought though......

Tee hee, my brother is gay and drinks soy!
Happy Lady I just noticed your new avatar and was thinking what a cute little boy you had.
Personally, I like to stick little dude into gender neutral colours just to torture people
:D
But I found it on the net. It must be true! ;)
HA!! There you go.. Ali's brother is supporting evidence. :p
dont worry DH and I were out at the shops with Paige in a Pink pram with a pink nappy bag and rug and bubs in a white dress with pink flowers and some one asked if she was a boy or a girl!???
DH was standing with her alone as I was at the checkout paying for something and he just said to them... NO SHE IS A BOY AND I AM JUST TRYING TO MAKE A FASHION STATEMENT! of course she is a girl!
I think the lady nearly died from embarrasment!
People just have no idea!
Happy lady- that is so funny you said his name was Olivia... I nearly fell off my chair laughing! :D
oh Happy Lady i get this ALL the time with Samuel !!
He is 21 months now and i still get it... even when dressed VERY BOYISH !!
Really... why cant boys have blond gorgeous curls and still be boys???

Here is another bad thing to admit to............
When my Oliver was around 12 months I dressed him up in his sisters clothes complete with hair clip. He made a bewdiful girl.......
Another time my mate who has a girl around the same age swapped her girls clothes for my boys clothes. Her girl looked better as a boy and my boy looked better as a girl. (sorry love....you know who I am talking about)
Thankfully things changed and she is the funniest little girl I met, so is my son. ;)

We were once at a shopping centre when a lady commented on what a beautiful little girl Lucas was! I told her he was a boy, to which she replied, "Well what's he got a pink bib on for?" - the bib wasn't pink, it had red piping around the edge...go get your glasses checked ol' girl!!
In saying that I did once dress Lucas up in a little outfit I'd bought when I was positive I was having a girl, he looked divine!!! I told my mum that I was going to take him to the shops in it and when people said what a lovely little girl, what's her name, I would reply Charlotte!!!
ONE DAY I WILL GET MY CHARLOTTE!!!:o

O used to get that all the time when he was a little one coz he had his baby hair and alot of dark curls, I often told people his name was Olivia :D it must be an O thing ;)
These days he never gets it LOL his too butch and the shaved head is a safe bet too  even when his wearing his pretty pink shirt he never gets mistaken!
Look on the up side at least people say his beautiful!
S
I dress DS in the boyest of boy clothes and people still tell me how cute SHE is!!
I have also had people tell me that there is no mistaking that he is a boy. Hmmm...WTF??
I will usually ask "What's this little cutie's name?" and hope that it is an obvious gender specific name! LOL:p

ohh I just read the posts about dressy little boys in dresses LOL :D
I did that once to O, just before we cut off all his baby hair and dark gorgeous curls.........I took photos and I have to say he made the most adorable little miss!
DH almost died when he saw the pics  I know Im a bad mother, but I couldnt resist he just looked soooooo cute :p
dont worry E, this happens to me alllll the time.:o
Cooper is constantly mistaken for a girl, he is soooo pretty, and even though he is always dressed boyish, people always refer to him as she.
'look at her gorgeous hair' 'isnt she beautiful' 'oh quick grab her, she's getting away' (i get that one alot, he is always running off on me, lol)
i nearly always mention 'oh hes a boy' because i love peoples reactions, they are so shocked! 'oh but he's too pretty!, im so sorry' lol lol :)
LOL Erin I've had that too.
If I ever say that he's a boy people have the reaction like he's too pretty to be a boy?? Don't know how that works??
Thanks for your responses everyone, so funny.:D
PML!!!!
Oh Happy Lady! OLIVIA?!! I thought you'd have a thing or two to say!
I got the same with all 3 babies - I'm definately a pink mummy - not really the frills and bows kind, but pretty pink dresses & outfits and I still got the "boy" comments.
Some oldies just need to adjust their specticles...

My MIL thinks white is for girls  She bought DD a blue blanket before we knew the sex and said she had to stick with neutral colour, blue is neutral to her WT?
I'm always asked if DD's a boy everytime I dress her in blue (got loads from DH's sister, she has 4 boys  ). Someone once asked her name and I said, "HER name is Rebecca", to which they replied, "Is it a girl?"
I think it's because of her hair so I put a ribbon on to make her look more like a girl, and she looks so gay (I used soy formula for a few weeks lol).

That is so funny HL
and Cosmic sheshh that's funny I read some stuff on soy too.
ah well least they are not saying..."wow that's one ugggaaaleee baby you have there" :D
So many funny stories here :D
I get a few people calling Elysha 'he' even though she's wearing pink - I do usually correct them though - then again people mention that she such a 'little girl' the way she looks petite etc so it makes me wonder why people think she's a boy lol
Soy and soy milk is consumed in most Asian cultures by people of both sexes, and I wouldn't say there's a higher rate of homosexuality compared to Western Cultures...I don't know where most of these "internet experts" get their facts, but I could take a guess...
