I'm very stinky. I smell like teething wee.

I wash clothes & nappies together
I use 1/2 washing powder
I have a front loader
Wash at 60deg
Use prewash, additional rinse + canesten
The machine isnt overloaded

So why am i stinky? Even if i wash nappies alone, it just makes sure all the nappies smell like wee.

Has anyone else had this problem or does DD just water-immune wee?

I'm more of a tumble dryer girl....but i have tried sun and while im sure they get sterile, they dont smell like flowers.
I havent even had them long enough to build up a detergent residue.

Are they hemp?

Try a COLD pre-rinse. I have heard from many people that it works better than a warm/hot pre-rinse, as it doesn't 'set' the smell in them, iykwim. Worth a try :D

How often do you wash?

All our nappies had that smell too, tho once they were dry (line dried) the smell wasn't really noticable unless you actually smelt them. I have started doing a cold pre-rinse and the smell seems to be going :)

I always washed nappies separately from the rest of our clothes. We too have a front loader plus I always used my clothes drier - mine always came out smelling fresh so not sure what is could be. Is your bub teething at present or having really stronger smelling urine for some reason?

Eternally teething I think! lol
I think coldest setting I can get on a rinse is 40deg unless i do it gentle 20deg wool. Will a gentle rinse have an effect do you think?

Means i have to visit the spider hut again to start a real wash cycle. Wish washing machines had wireless remotes.

Not enough line drying makes a big difference imo. If I've had to tumble dry a few times then the nappies start to smell a bit. I try to hang them out on the line when it stops raining, even when they're already dry, if I've had to use the tumble dryer a few times just so they get a bit of UV light.

i can't wash nappies with other stuff unless they have been rinsed off first as the wee smell gets into everything. is it possible to fill up the nappy bucket for an hour or two and then drain and add the nappies to the wash, or alternative do a prewash/rinse and spin cycle on the nappies before adding the clothes?

 Yeah I have to agree... When we have a rainy week (or 5 LOL  ) I hate the smell of my nappies- the sun makes a huge difference. Also we wash ours together too with clothes and have no problems.

Anything's possible! Although doing that would be a bit time consuming and a waste of water imo.
I've never had any problems with my clothes smelly like wee - I cold wash and don't prerinse or add an extra rinse at the end.
However, I think it's about finding what works best for you.

personally i've also found that if the nappies are really getting smelly from being hung out inside or inserts from being in the dryer, it takes a few times of hanging them in the sun (or one all-day long hang) to really help with the smell.

We've had a few probs with smelly nappies, and I hang mine outside, and have only used the drier to finish of maybe three or four times in 6 months.

I use the canisten in wash stuff when it's really bad, and I don't wash mine with clothes, because I have enough to do a full load every 2 days.

I honestly think it is more to do with your baby and thier wee, and how strong it is. But hanging them outside does seem to help, but there are times when you can still smell it, even if they have been outside in the sun all day.

If I don't wash on hot, the smell is 10 times worse

it's not a perminent thing, and it does seem to come and go so it's probably a teething issue and :fingerscrossed: you will have non smelly nappies again soon
