Help!!! I have just found out I am having twins. I know nothing and I don't know where to start looking!

I would like to know things like:

Do I need extra care during pregnancy? At the moment I am booked into a share care programm with my GP.

What are the risks?

How will I cope with 4 under 5?

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations :yelclap: Its all abit overwhelming when you first find out isnt it. I have 19month old twin boys and a 3yo DS.
I did share care with my GP and the hospital, and after my first visit to the hospital knowing I was expected twins I was allocated a proffessor as my doctor so that was really good. Alot of people thought I should have a ob. and at the start when I found out I was expecting twins I rang around a few trying to get one but they all had closed books for the dates of my pregnancy. I ended up being very happy with my care. It really comes down to what you want and what makes you feel like your in good hands. You should really ask at your next appointment about all the risks of a multiple pregnancy there is more of a risk with multiple pregnancies but alot of women breeze through it just like a single pregnancy. My pregnancy was really good up until the last 6 weeks or so I got pre-eclampsia (hope spelling right) and was admited twice over night for observation, on the second admission there was talk of inducing me the next day but my waters broke that morning anyway so that was good. I was 38 weeks and 2 days. The birth was fine they strongly recommended I have a epidural because Lucas was breach and they were unsure if they would have to assist him in turning but after Nicholas was born he just flopped down (now that he had room) and was born normal.
As far as coping goes you just do! It was and still is very hard at times. When my twins were born eldest DS Corey was only 19months and that was a really big adjustment for him to have 2 new babies in the house. Have you got good support, some family close that are going to be able to help you? My mum came to my house just about every day that my husband was at work for the first few months which made it alot easier.
Everybodies different and it all comes down to what works for you, but I did everything for my twins at the same time. If one wakes for a bottle wake the other and give them bottles at the same time. Put them down for sleeps at the same time. I got my twins into a really good routine after a week of being home they would feed every 4 hours during the day starting at about 6ish and then at 10o'clock every night would wake them for another bottle and after doing this for a couple of days after that 10o'clock bottle they would sleep through till 6o'clock. It eliminated the middle of the night feeds which let me get a good sleep so I wasn't sleep deprived.
I'm no expert but I hope some of this helps. Congratulations again!
