DS is 17months, and will walk/crawl- around in circles for around an hr everyday pretending to be animals?
maybe a dog one day and then a bird or monkey the next.
and when i ask him sumthing like if he would like a drink he comes up smiles and makes his animal sound.
maybe its because i have been teaching him the sounds that animals make lately..
but i wanted to no if any other children do or have done this and when do they stop??
at first i thourght it was funny i still do for the first 10 mins or so but he has been doing it everyday for almost 2 weeks now..
My 3 year old does this, he's been doing it for 6 months now and it drives me nuts sometimes!! lol

Joshua is convinced he's a cat, he won't talk to me he will miaow at me. I have to keep him away from the real cats food, i was worried till a friend of mine who's child used to do something similar said that he'd grow out of it.

My son is often a bear....plus he has imaginary bear friends he brings along on trips to the shops, playgroup etc.
I'd say your son is a normal happy imaginative little boy!

Congratulations!!! Your child has an imagination!!! :)
I think a lot of kids go thru it. One of mine was a cat, for ages.
When you think about it - we take them to zoos, point out animals ' cute pets' half their story books have animals....
I wish I could be a dolphin.....it's just I don't like raw fish....
jake watched 'cars' the other day and now he runs around the house saying 'brooooom broooooom' its so cute
 Sounds like my DS! :D
LOL Lukey is so cute Lou.
Wyatt thinks he's a Lion or Tiger most days LOL!

DD1 does it.. She will 'pant' like a dog sometimes, she use ot kiss with her mouth shut now its wide open, tongue out..
I am not worried to much it is cute..although i am more worried that when she tries to 'sing' to her songs on her show..when she takes a breath she does that weird gasping noise...dont know where she got that from.

My DD was exactly the same. She would only crawl, and if she had to speak, it would be in her cat voice (with a miaow in between each word). She did this daily for about 4 months. As soon as she stopped being a cat, she was a train. :banghead:
Yes, your child is normal. I do not think I have met a child that did not or was not going through their "animal stage."
My DS thinks that he is a horse.

Oh yes! my ds whos 3 does it each day he acts like a puppy dog and barks at me. then when i ignore him he tuens in to a yelling tiger haha
ha ha ha....
I used to this when when I was little.... maybe about the age of 7!!!! LMAO
I don't think its a bad thing... probably a little annoying. Maybe you could play around with it a little aswell. It can only be good for the imagination!!
Come on the rest of you... fess up!!
I am not the only 7 year old to crawl around the backyard and act like a horse!!! lmao
Although my DS isn't talking (or making animal sounds yet) he is fascinated with ducks and cats and will point at a pic of one until I make the sound for him.
Can't wait till he does it himself...
...but don't know if I'll be able to endure 2 weeks (let alone four months!!) of it.
Should be interesting though. Let me know your coping strategies! :p

My 2 yr old dd does this too.
She pretends to be a dog or a tiger. She crawls around panting with her tongue out when shes a dog.
If shes a tiger she growls and pretends to bite my leg.:o
I'm sure my boys didn't do this.
I'm glad she's not the only animal child though.:D

My DS used to crawl around supermarkets and shops barking like a dog!
how cute! my ds's favorite game is lions, where we crawl around and growl at each other!!
birds and cows are also favorite sounds. cracks me up everytime.
