Hi all
Little M stayed with Nanna and Poppy on the weekend and came back with a chipped tooth. It is the front one and a fair bit off.
Took her up to the dentist and they said it should be fine as is unless it darkens.
Anyway, on the one hand I think these things can happen to all of us - on the other hand I think that MIL and FIL are not as agile as to keep up with her.
I know how much MIL and FIL love her and love to have her with them
How should I be feeling about her staying over with them???? Or elsewhere for that matter!

When I was 2 my mum and dad went to Tassie for the weekend and I was staying at my Grans & Pas. My Gran was pushing me ever so gently on the swing and *bam* fell face first on the concrete (never was one to put my hands out in front of me!) - the fall knocked out a couple of teeth and banged my mouth up pretty good - my mum said although she was devastated when she was called by my Gran she knew how awful my Gran was feeling because my Gran couldn't stop crying and saying it was all her fault.
I think these things can happen anywhere and at anytime...if you stopped any sleepover visits imagine how ridden with guilt and devastated they'd be - it could have easily happened to anyone.
I suffered 3rd degree burns on my hands with my mum standing in the kitchen with me! Jesse got into the dishwasher powder in the time it took me to pick up the phone and say hello...that's why they're called accidents, they're not meant to happen.
I think banning any overnight visits would only hurt the parties involved - your daughter and her loving grandparents!

I agree with Carlyb. It's so hard especially once they become more agile, to keep and eye on them every second and to prevent accidents.
When I was 3 I slipped in the bath as mum was taking me out..and cut open my chin. My little sis (she was about 4) fell over in the front yard onto the water metre and cut her head open and my littlest sis (3 at the time)fell on the front door step as she was coming inside and cut open her chin! My poor mum!!!:(
I worry all the time with Charlotte, but unless I put cushions down everywhere she goes I know I can't prevent every accident that is bound to happen.:o
Little M's nanna and poppy would be devasted if you stopped overnight stays esp when it could easily have happened anywhere.:)
BTW, did FIL and MIL tell you what had happened?

I know it seems aweful.... Ds broke his very front bottom tooth right off & to this day I have no idea how!!! I felt bad for ages but I know it wasn't my fault. These thing happen... at least they get replacement ones ..... eventually!! :o

it is so easy for accidents like that to happen and it can be fixed i had a chipped tooth which was an adult tooth and they can just fill it up or wait till she / he gets there adult tooth. It was an accident don't punish anyone by preventing sleepovers.

What great comments!
Thank you so much - I guess I just wanted to get a few opinions other than my own.
I had drawn pretty similar conclusions myself - it just really helps to hear it from others too.
I love MIL and FIL - I would never want to upset them.
Besides - it could definately happen anywhere
It is funny reading your posts, I sound like I am molly-coddling M, this is so opposite to how I am. I really believe that they need to fall a few times type of thing. It was just a funny mixture of emotions when I saw her tooth
Charlibum - yeah they were totally honest about it all

Things like that just happen.
My DD#1 managed to slip at swimming squad and chipped one of her permanent teeth. It was no one's fault.
