Ok, DD seems keen to start using her potty(she used it the other night for poo's and was so proud of herself!).

I have the potty, I have some training pants(how many pairs will I need?!?), but where do I go from here?

We have started putting her into training pants of an evening, from before dinner until bath time(basically straight after dinner) at her request. I have already talked to daycare and they suggested that seeing as it is coming into winter and getting a bit cool for her to be in training pants all day, that perhaps we try for a few weeks just at meal times(at home and at kindy) so that we can all get used to this new adventure. It makes sense and seems like a low pressure way to start(seeing as she's only 17mths). What do you think? Is this a good way to start? Have I forgotten anything?

Any tips and advice would be great!

TIA!

I am probably not going to be able to help you too much but it might be best to let her guide you. If she continues getting the potty right and starts with wees aswell, you could start using pull-ups all the time (can be very costly) but it might be best to start fully training her coming into summer. (easier to clean up when she has accidents and easier and cheaper to leave her in undies, they also get a clearer wet sensation/feeling when they do this in undies )

If she poos around the same time every day, you could try putting her in undies around this time of day and see if this encourages her to ask to use the potty.

DD trained herself at 2.5 years old (november). I found this was also a good age as she had just learnt how to pull her own undies up and down so this helped heaps.

She is still having problems with her poos. She wears undies all the time including nighttime in bed but when she needs a poo she comes and asks for a nappy on, goes off and does it, and then comes back about 2 minutes later and asks for it off. This has been going on now for 6 months and for the life of me i cannot get her on that damn toilet to poo (really, how hard/different can it be  )

Good luck and hope this go smoothly for you. If not, she is still very young and i would have another try coming into summer.
