When to change a nappy?

I am a BF mum and and was just wandering when do you change your bubs nappy when he/she wakes for a feed.

Do you change before a feed?

Do you change half way through a feed?

Do you change at the end of a feed?

This thread isnt just for BF mums i would also like to hear from FF mums too.

I change it before a feed - just in case he falls asleep during the feed.
If I am planning on giving him some no nappy time, then I'll wait until after, unless the nappy is really full.

I've only just registered...so I'm not up with the lingo (BF, FF, DH, DD etc)!!! So sorry if my reply isn't appropriate!!! I found it best to change my daughters nappy before every feed, everytime she woke up from a nap...and when I knew it was soiled. It meant that she was comfortable to enjoy her feed, and sleep afterwards if she wanted without me bothering her. I did this, and used Curash Nappy Rash cream at every change as a preventitive...and she has never had a rash (touch wood it continues!!).

I have always changed my DD's when they wake up, then they have a play and then I will check their nappy before a feed and if it needs changing I do it before their feed because they usually go down for a sleep straight after.

because I use clothies I change LOTS during the day (doesn't cost me anything to have a few extra in the machine :) ) so Jack is usually changed before and after a feed.. he is a very pee-ee (is that a word :D ) baby ... the nappies aren't always 'drenched' but I hate him going to sleep with a damp nappy..

If i know she's gonna be awake for a while after a feed, i do it after, but if she's going to go to sleep during or afterwards (like her early morning and last night feeds...) i do it beforehand.

hmm lemme think, it all gets a bit complicated for me lol

Change after waking, check before feeding (if shes full a change again), If I want her to have a full feed I change her between sides (Im BF), anytime she needs it and before bed.

I also have a thing where if she hasnt done a poo between 1-2pm I won't change her... she always does one though, but if I want to change her and she hasn't... then shes always on time doing her business on the table :rolleyes:

I change before a feed cause usually if its during the night she can get pretty wet - also she doesnt really like being in a wet nappy (as is understandable lol)

I always change DS nappy before a feed...
If we are going out and he has just been feed, I generally check him... Poo-ey nappies are usually done while feeding (he must be relaxed or something while eating) so he gets changed afterward his feed...

I change my DD either halfway through a BF if she is falling asleep or I wait until after her feed because she tends to fill her pants while she's feeding! The only exception is in the middle of the night feed - I always change her halfway through so she can go straight to sleep once she's finished feeding.

hmm hard one... FF. change when wakes up. This is gernerally when needs to be done. However new nappy before bed time at night. and always check before sleeps if needs to be changed then will do so. Always poos while sleeping. ewww

I used to change before a feed as the poor bub had bad reflux and would be sick with the slightest movement (Including nappy changing :( )

The poor bub would cry and cry whilst getting changed coz he was such a hungry, impatient little thing!!!

But you gotta do what you gotta do ;)

I use to do it before but now i do it either way as every time i feed they do their rockets poops so i have to change them again if they have done poop then i will chang immediately. I find when they are hungry they will scream the house down until they get that feed so I am more relaxed bubs is too if I feed first..
