ovulating and bf??

i think i am ovulating (sorry tmi) i haven't got af since i have had bubs who is just under 4 months old.. the last week she has been funny with her feeds... she had lost too much weight so the pead said i have to comp feed her every feed... coz i said i still want to bf... so i am offering hr the breast when she takes it, and then i am to offer her up to 120 mls of special formula ( she has cows milk allergy so she is on the pepti junior) she has changed so much with doing this...she has not screamed at all and is sleeping heaps better... she is so much happier...

but now on monday she didn't feed much - only at 6 am and then at 8 at night and then i wasnt' even hard in the boobies..i went to express and all that i could get was 80mls .. and that was after all day without feeding.. i did offer her the breast but she wouldn't take itas soon as she got the milk she would screw her face up and not take it ...

yesterday - she feed a little more - short feeds every 4-5 hours... today she has feed three times but only for about 5 mins in total each feed....

last night i went to bed after being realy neausous (SP?) and again woke up this morning wanting to :barf: .. and today i have had three really big pimples start to fester.. i usually only get these just before af coming to town...
so i don't know whether she is loosing interest or my milk has changed... and if it has changed will she get back on .. i have to comp her as she lost over 600 grams in little over a week.... and dr is not too happy with her weight... she really is thriving on the extra comping - but now i just went to express and i only got 50mls after having not feed since about 4 this afternoon... i try to express more during the day and even putting her on the breast when she is not hungry but nothing seems to be working

i was taking feenugreek but didn't work and was even on motilium - but i thought i did have milk as when she does get on she gets the let down and when i did express with the lets downs i would get 60mls each side....any thoughts...

I cant really help you with the ovulation/af stuff as i havnt had either yet,but i have heard a lots of babies go off the breast milk when af returns,some even playup every month!Iv even heard of women eating garlic when af is due as this apparently masks the different taste of the milk:eek: ! If it is af then every thing should settle down and milk will go back to normal.The best thing you can do is keep offering booby often,even if LO rejects it most times or only has a quick feed(my LO feeds on both sides in about 7min & has done since he was 2mths old),a little is better than nothing, and theres nothing better to boost your supply than your suckling bubby,unless of course its the lactation cookies!!! They are absolutely brilliant to get that supply up.They might even help you to be able to express more.On the subject of expressing,I have an electric pump and the most iv ever been able to express in one day was 15mls!And that was after 3 different sessions!!So 50mls to me sounds like a marvelous effort.
Just a thought,my first bub was losing weight too so i was told to comp feed him.Once he'd got the taste of the bottle and realised he didnt have to work for his supper i could never get him back on the breast:crying: .I wish now id persevered and tried to boost my supply,but thats all wishful thinking.I just wanted to let you know that the bottles might be the reason for the breast refusal and if you still really want to breast feed then maybe you could comp feed through a supply line. I really hope you get something useful from my ramblings.Good luck withit all.:wave:
