hey all :)

I emailed avent yesterday cause I am a little annoyed with the breastpump. I have been using it 4 times a day (approx) and loving the way it is easy to use. However I went to mum's house the other day and the small white piece (dont know what it is called!!! - but it kinda looks like an * on one side and has something to do with sealing the vacumn area) kept popping out- of course it happened at mums... where I had no spare parts!!! ..

it happened every 5-10 pumps (so you can imagine how frustrating it was to express!!) and occurred BOTH times that I expressed there .. and continued to happen even though I took it apart and put it together several times.

I have replaced the part with one of the extras they put in the box... (and the pump is working) but I am worried that since I have only been using it moderately for not even 2 months .. that I will have to replace the part again soon!!! and it only came with three spare bits!!!

anyone else had issues??? I love the pump... and really just want them to send me some extra spares - you cant buy those bits anywhere!! just in case...

Ive got one but havent used it as yet though am meaning to soon. I remember reading in the instructions something to do with that part since it wouldnt work without it (a valve?) and they saying i think had to order it direct from them of lost but that dont loose it etc...

You'd think they would give a reasonable amount of spares since it is so hard to get

Hi

I used the avent pump daily about 6 times a day and didn't have to replace that valve'y thing once. I have stopped using it now (after 6 months) but maybe it is just bad luck?

If it happens again it might be something dodgy but you should be ok. If you want, I can mail you one of my spares?

I no longer use mine.
Had no problems.
I can mail you the spares as well or I can mail you the whole thing so you have spares of everything (maybe then you can keep one of the pumps at your mums).(Not having any more kids so I don't need it and I would only chuck it out anyway - it has been packed away after sterilisation)
PM me if you want the stuff sent (I'll cover the postage from Melbourne - don't know where Browns Plains is) - it can be my christmas present to you :D

No probs Jenny - received said PM.

If the bottles fit in the box (I can never repack a box and all its attachments the way it arrived - stupid me) I'll send them too. I think there was two - have to check.

Your local pharmacy can order spare parts for the pump.

Don't bother trying to get our local ones to order stuff for you...they wont
I needed some stuff ordered early last year and none of them would do it, they told me to contact the company myself...it wasn't Avent stuff tho...

I have had the same prob with my pump. It has happened a couple of times. I have been using it once every day for 3 months now, and I too love it.

You can order sapre parts over the next from the avent website, andi think they have a store, office at eagle farm, I am not sure.

Belinda

PS Has anyone seen the new battery operated ones, and know if you can buy an attachment of the manual pump???????

I have been using mine for about 6 months now.

I have had the same problem. I found it happened if I held the trigger for too long or pulled it all the way in. It must have something to do with the pressure.

I just stared not holding the trigger down for as long and it seemed to fix the problem.

I thought about this when the thingy popped out (note the use of technical words like thingy :) ) - I never hold the trigger down for long.... but I guess the pressure does build up after awhile... I have now been releasing the pressure a few times when expresing... (it can get messy then though!!!)

thanks

I contacted Avent when my BP was actually making a really annoying squeaking sound everytime I pumped. They were really good about it and sent me replacement valve thingies - give them a call - they were excellent.:D

I have just had the same problem, after only 3 weeks pumping. when I had a closer look at the white valve, I saw it was a littke cracked around the star pattern, which must make it a little bendable, and able to pop up into the top section. Obviously this is a pretty common problem

Hi
I'm having trouble with the motor of my breastpump. As soon as I squeeze the handle it stops working.:-(
I called Avent today and guess what??? They are sending me another one, and my pump is not under warranty anymore.
She said the one they are sending to me is like in "new condition", but it has been repaired (2nd hand).
I don't mind as long as it works!!!! This is for FREE! Very happy with the service and with this forum, cause I read that a lot peolple here recommended to call them so I did!
