Hmmm, not too sure about that. Though there are medications that can make you produce milk, adoptive parents etc have been known to use it overseas.
Get in contact with the hospital LC to find out more.
Blessed Thistle, it can be taken from a week before due date (or on date bubs born if before that) fantastic for your milk supply :)
you can get it at a health shop.

& not a stupid question. A very intelligent one for a wanting-to-be-fully informed mum!
Evaluate your home surroundings too.. make DP and EVERYONE understand how important it is to support you!
i never breastfeed with DS either as i just wasnt producing anything.
so i am worried about whats gonna happen this time too.
my doula informs me i should attend classes run by the ABA. only thing finding the time and money.
but at least i will get the support i will need this time where as last time i had none. i think support plays a big factor.

try the aba online. they have a discussion forum too, almost as good as meetings-better coz you can talk there while still in pj's!
def. talk to your hospital and let them know you would like to breastfeed and find out about prescription galactogogues(sp?) now while pregnant.
join/subscribe to aba and pay yourself back when you get the baby bonus:thumbsup: then read the book that you get included it's fab.
if you produce colostrum while pregnant you could consider expressing and freezing a few mls in little syringes, ask at your hospy for some maybe, to give you some back-up to use after birth.
colostrum is really a concentrated super food, there isn't much of it, but a newborn has a small tum and will only need small feeds but often. babies lay down a special fat to help them survive in the first few days of life aswell, so they don't starve. this is reassuring as it gives you some time after birth to see how things go for you and buub.
did you produce any colostrum last time?
hormones play a roll in kick starting breastfeeding. i know one woman who physically wasn't able to produce milk who told me that she had been diagnosed as not producing enough of the right hormone. she had herself tested as she desperately wanted to breadstfeed. as a last resort she used the supplementary nursing system for a time to feed formula to her babe at the breast before weaning to bottles eventually.
i haven't read your birth story with boof, but knowing it was traumatic, it could be that this also played a role, perhaps your body was in shock last time, whereas this time you may have a much better birth experience and also the knowledge of what life with a baby is like to help you along.
good luck with it all.
