I found this recipe this week's New Idea, and tried it today....they worked! :yelclap: I have NEVER been able to make good scones, even using the kindy kids lemonade recipe, so this was a major feat for me!

Ingredients:

3 cups SR flour
Pinch salt
1/2 cup cream
1 1/2 cups milk

Preheat oven to 240C and grease baking tray.

Sift flour and salt into bowl, and into the centre, add the cream and milk. Stir with a knife to form soft dough. Turn out onto floured board knead lightly. Roll to about 12mm in thickness and, using a 5cm cutter, cut out the scones. Place side by side on baking tray.

Cook in very hot oven for 10 mins. When cooked, remove from oven, and brush tops with melted butter to enhance their appearance.

Mine were small, and next time i'll use a bigger cutter, but they taste scrummy (so good in fact, that i ate 5 while they were hot, with butter and jam :o)!

Michelle, that's what mine used to be like! :o These were so soft!

Mine also didn't brown on the top much, even though i brushed them with milk before putting them in, but when i put the second lot on a higher shelf, they browned a bit more. Even so, they were still fab!

Mmmmm... yummo!! I'd actually forget waiting for them to brown or even become golden.. when they are brown they are overcooked IMO!!

I actaully really love that lemonade recipie (if it's the same one) 1 cup lemonade, 1 cup cream, 1 cup SR flour.

Will give yours a try next! :D
