Hi
I wouldn't be too worried ... my dd is nearly 5 and has only ever had 3 nights in a row of dry nappies in the morning, so has not yet had a night without them!
If you ask the kindergaten teacher at school, you will find out that most of the kids in the class are stil wearing night nappies or similar ... it is not something that you need to worry about until around age 7 or 8 ... then it is a good idea to see if there is something medically wrong - often if there is, it is simple to treat!
My nearly 3yo is better than my dd when it comes to dry nights, but he has absolutely no idea during the day!
Every kid is really different, so don't worry!

Hi Karen,
I agree with Kyra, at this age it's not really anything to worry about yet. If you can't help worrying (and let's face it - we're mothers, we worry!!) take him to the doctor and just get confirmation that there's nothing physiologically wrong.
If the price of night-nappies is an issue, get one of those vinyl-backed sheet thingys, or even just a couple of garbage bags laid out under the bottom sheet will do the trick. I remember when I was little and a cousin of mine wet the bed until she was 7 or 8. She used to get belted some mornings, because the mother was annoyed at having to wash sheets.... I think stressing the child out will make the issue worse.
My DD is 4.5 yrs old, and she's still in pull-ups. I think it is something they grow out of eventually, it's just that some kids are earlier than others.
Good luck!! :)

Oh PS.... about the drinks after dinner thing.....
I agree, it's hard to say "no you can't have a drink" especially in hot weather. I think it's probably more important to insist that he goes to the toilet right before bed, and you could even wake him up a few hours later, just before you go to bed, and put him on the toilet then. We've done that with Vallerie a few times, she's not even awake properly but she still does wee's!! Sometimes I sorta go "pssssssss" and that prompts her to do it.... sounds weird I know!!!
