View Full Version : at what age approx. does a baby hold the bottle?
I have noticed my 3 month old baby is starting to hold the bottle but not quite there yet.. I didn't teach her she just did it herself.. and also when I prepare a bottle for her and bring it to her I would wave it to her so she is aware of bottle etc and she would try to grab it and pop it in her mouth herself...she just can't hold it up I will hold it up for her of course and she will hold it
is this the right age or there is no such a thing of a age limit kind of thing all babies are different??

My first baby started holding his himself at 6wks. :eek:
I think my DD was around 5mths and DS2 was around 3-4mths.
Not toally sure. Jacob stood out the most as he did it at an unbelievably young age.

It's so cute when they do that! Mine, starting grabbing and holding the bottle himself at just over 4 months. I still nurse him while he feeds though.

DS didnt hold his bottle till 10 months!! :eek: :rolleyes: not that he couldnt he just rathered me feed him lol! i ended up getting a bottle with handles and he finally held it!! :laughing: :laughing:

The whole manipulating the bottle holding it up so the milk comes out about 8 mths. Could hold it around 6 mths.

DD was trying to hold it from when she was about 3 or 4 months.. Not the best at it for a while... By about 6 months she could do it properly (only when she wanted to of course!! lol)
DS did it pretty early too... we have pics of him, its cute....lol...um it was around 4 weeks. but he was born pretty big (just over 10lbs) so i guess he was strong enough to do it on his own.
Tyler has always grabbed out and reached for it.... held it himself at about 4 and a half months... but now at 7 months, he has only done it a few times himself.... I am still holding it for him 99% of feeds as he won't do it himself...

My daughter started around 16 months lol. But she only started on bottles at 6 months.

Chloe started holding it a few weeks ago, she's only 7 months old.
I don't let her hold it herself all the time because I miss holding her and feeding her myself.
Pretty soon she'll be walking and she'll want to feed herself entirely and I wont have my little baby back. :(

Breast feeding here.. but I swear, Auryn only became aware of the boobies this months (7months old) and he holds it FIRMLY in both hands.. :laughing:

My bub has held his bottle a few times (he is 4 months) but I won't leave him alone with it until he's a bit older.
He knows when I put the bib on that it's coming and gets all aggitated lol
