What did you do for housing when you first arrived?

Hi everyone!

I'm initially going to be staying in a hotel in Sydney for a minimum of 2 weeks and will be looking for a place to rent so that I can move in as soon as possible.

Does anyone know what the estate agents require in order to sign the lease/be eligible to rent from people who have previously lived in the UK?

Both DD and I are Australian citizens.
