Aiming at getting some valuable hints and tips before making the journey over!

What do you wish you'd known before arriving? i.e. lifestyle, culture, prices etc.

It's quicker to go through the "Something to Declare" channel. Bring in some Bisto and chocolate just so you can go through quicker.

Go to your local favourite curry house and kidnap the Chef and stock up on good value, well made kiddies clothes. Also, good quality cosmetics & hair products.

It's more American in Australia than I originally thought - the language and I can't believe the number of McDonalds, Burger Kings, KFC's, Subways etc. and the housing areas are more high density. I imagined larger blocks and gardens instead of huge houses taking up most of the garden.

I like it here and also like living in the UK and I think it really helps if you go with the outlook that no country is either better or worse - just different.

I really like the Aussies attitude to authority as they just go about doing what they want to do anyway in a laid back, calm manner.

My dad always told me

"The grass isn`t always greener but its always different"

A big change for us was the early to be early to rise lifestyle. That may not be so in Sydney.

Also by a Highway Code Book..I have learnt some expensive lessons!!Different road rules.

Ditto Incy Wincy`s findings too!!

If you get a statement from your car insurance company re your no claims bonus and bring it with you it is acceptable. It will be easier to do it before you come out as my company would only send it to a UK address. Other than that I wouldnt want to spoil the fun but get ready for a slower pace of life and if you want an electrician or plumber be prepared to wait a long time!!!
