Do you know a basic scone recipe?

I make my scone receipe then roll out my dough nice and flat (about 5mm) spread with vegemite and sprinkle with grated cheese. Roll up into one big log and then slice into peices so you have large pin wheels...if that makes sense.

Bake for about 15 minutes depending on how big you cut them :D

This is from the Vegemite website :

3 cups self raising flour
pinch of salt
50g butter
375 ml milk
1-2 tablespoons VEGEMITE
200g grated tasty cheese

SIFT flour and salt into a bowl then rub through butter. Stir in enough milk to make soft dough. Knead gently on a lightly floured surface, and then roll to form a 40cm x 25cm rectangle.

SPREAD the Vegemite over the dough then sprinkle over 3/4 of the cheese. Roll up along the long side to enclose the cheese. Cut 10 x 4cm pieces from the roll and place close together, cut side up on a greased baking tray.

SPRINKLE with the remaining cheese and bake in a hot oven 220ºC for 15-20 minutes or until cooked and golden.

I have a very easy recipe for vegemite scrolls but they are bite size. All you need is some puff pastry (the frozen stuff), vegemite, grated cheese and an egg.

Lie pastry out (one sheet a time)
spread vegemite all over
sprinkle with grated cheese and then roll into a big log
cut into bite size pieces
place on bakeing tray
brush with beaten egg
place in oven until cheese has melted and are golden brown

Hope this helps, its a favourite around here.

Thanks everyone... I really never thought to look at the Vegemite site!

I have some frozen pastry in the freezer so I can give them a go first...

My youngest is dairy allergic so I can adapt his so he doesn't miss out.

Thanks again!
