My dd had her first hair cut at 10 months and it turned out really sh!t,her hair was crooked shorter than i wanted it and all her long hair was pretty much gone :crying:.

Now here is the hard part,ds is 10 months his hair is getting long and going in his eyes.I don't want to cut it i want it long.

Am i cruel for wanting long hair on my BOY?

Do you think he will get teased?

Also his hair goes in his eyes sometimes am i cruel for letting it grow and going in his eyes?

When did your baby/child get their first hair cut.

If i cut it I WILL be doing it cause im the only one i can trust.Dd has had her hair cut 3 times by hair dressers and all 3 times it has been crooked,it was straight when i cut it though.

DS is 21 months and it will most likely be another year before he gets a haircut, he hasn't got enough to consider cutting.

I have a nephew who is 2 1/2 who barely made it to 6 months and has his cut almost monthly as it grows so fast.

I'd cut your DS fringe so at least it isn't bothering his eyes but leave the rest if you want it long. He'll tell you when he's ready to have it short (normally once they start kinder or school they want to be more like everyone else) so for a couple of years anyway you should be able to let it grow.

I wanted the same for my DS. I was tying his hair up with an elastic to keep it out of his eyes untill oneday Dh just lopped it off
I went to the shops and when I got back James was on the floor oblivious and a clump of hair, still in the elastic, was on the bench top :(
However we have just left it as is. Strangly enough the cut is perfect with just one snip! Way to go Dh :D

See how long DS's hair was (scuse the bow Btw - it was a bit of fun :o for me)

Here it is (http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o128/nats_017/Bow1.jpg)

Eliza's hair needs a trim to but how does one cut a childs hair when they don't sit still!!!

Um I like short hair on boys and men, just me but I see your predicament it's hard!

I will probably cut Eliza's hair too!

DD is 2 next week, and she still hasnt had her first hair cut...she has a MOP ...It comes down to the middle of her back, literally, when its brushed, although it usually sits a bit below her shoulders because its curly at the back.

But her fringe is past her chin :o...She looks so feral if its not put up. I wont get it cut until I find somewhere really good in brisbane.

Edit: I'll upload a photo of dd :P

Brion didn't get his first hair cut til a cple months ago - so nearly two. Mind you he has curly hair so it is easy to curl up and get off his face.

This (http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/Bellamumma/DSC01787l.jpg) is a photo of ds's hair in his eyes,at the moment i can just put it to the side but i think it will get longer pretty quick because his hair grows quick.

If you want to leave it, leave it...If you dont like it as it gets longer, just trim it ..

Im a bit sick and tired of people *mother* telling me I need to get her hair cut...And if its not direct...its the "oh poor gwen wont mummy cut your hair, isnt she so nasty for keeping it in your eyes" kind of back handed comment.

DD's does need to be neatened up, but I wont do it until I can find a good hairdresser that works alot with kids, cause its so grown out that I dont know what they could do with it, other then give her a fringe, and I want to stick away from that :)

DD got her first haircut just after 17 months.

Her hair was like your sons... that spindly soft hair that hangs in the eyes like that. I let it grow for a while, hoping that I could just push it to the side... but after several month, and her hair ALWAYS hanging in her face and eyes (and her constantly rubbing her eyes... I figure the hair had something to do with that), I got it cut off.

I have a side-swept fringe and sometimes it annoys the hell out of me. Makes it harder to see things, and sometimes it just stabs me in the eye. I figure DD's only a little girl... she shouldn't have to endure that just so her hair looks a certain way. So now she just has a fringe.

I have to admit, I feel kinda cruel sometimes for keeping dd's hair long...Hers is that thing whispy hair too because it hasnt been cut yet, and shes got a side part, so it sort of comes down diagonally across her face and swept behind an ear (even though it only stays there for 2 minutes).

She has however learnt to sweep it away from her eyes herself, and I think its long enough now that it doesnt actually annoy her eyes, iykwim? Im pretty lucky that its never really frustrated her.

Zach was 14 months when he had his first snip and thats all it was one single snip... about 6 months later he had his first proper cut.

Isobella is 2 next month and still hasn't had her hair cut, I am contemplating getting it trimmed to help it grow (tho it is quite long already) but I'm not sure I am ready yet lol

DS is nine months and I have been thinking of getting his hair cut as it is sort of hanging over his ears. But I might wait till we go to NZ in July because my aunty is a hairdresser and I think it would be cute if he had his first haircut from her because she always cut my hair when I was little.

I prefer short hair on little boys. DP would never let me grow DS's hair long, I wouldn't want to anyway. When he is older he can grow it long if he wants, but until then, he will be going with daddy and they can have bloke time together at the barber or hairdresser (wherever DP goes, I don't even know actually!).

I like fringes, especially on little girls. My niece cut her own fringe when she was two because she got sick of it hanging in her eyes  it looked adorable, she actually did a pretty good job.

DD was 7 months. She had a mullet so we had to cut the back and make it into a bob cut. Her next hair cut was 2 years later.

DS was about 6 months. He is now 17 months and I get it cut about every 2 months but he hates it. He screams and kicks and everybody who walks past just looks but it has to be done.

My DD is 21mths tomorrow and still hasn't had a haircut, mind you she didn't have much hair til she was 12mths.
Its past her shoulders now down the back, and its curly, but straight at the front. Her fringe is long but we put it up or use a hairclip, which surprisingly she tolerates well. We won't be getting her hair cut for a while, I will probably just trim the fringe myself, seems like a waste of money to get her fringe cut.

DS had his first cut at 9mths, and has had 4 haircuts since. He's overdue for another now. It grows so fast and is so thick that it gets in his eyes and goes out of control!!

In the meantime, just put his hair up into a man-tail to keep it off his face... It's cute!

Hehehe My boy had his first hair cut at 6 months old. I did it while he was asleep. He looked like an old man afterwards though. He's had about 4 hair cuts and is almost due for another (16 months old now)

Do it yourself. It's probably easier to get them to sit still when their at home... (maybe!)

I would personally cut ds's hair if it were getting into his eyes (that's why my ds had his first hair cut). I think it's too irritating to leave it hanging in their eyes when they're little and don't really know what's going on... but that's just me.

Good luck in what ever you decide. :)
