I heard that private kindies can deny kids due to not being vaxd - true or false?
My MIL said that Montossori because they're private have the right to refuse non-vax'd kids.

Not sure, but I was researching schools and one wanted kids to have I think the measles vax before they were allowed to be accepted.....

It is completely utterly and totally illegal to discriminate against a child due to vaccination status.

even at a private school??
positive?
I have not looked into this to be honest as we did vax our DS, but I was under the impression that as Duchessa said, it is illegal to discriminate based on vaccination status.
I thought the only difference was is that if there is an outbreak they ask you to keep you children at home if they have not been vaccinated - and I was actually under the impression that this was actually to try and ensure that if a child was not vaccinated and there was an outbreak, that said child would not be exposed to whatever illness there is an outbreak of. (So I didn't think it was an 'exclusion' thing)

is that true dutchessa?? dont you need to have filled in forms stating why??
if you have done that, its my understanding they legally cant refuse you.

Itd be considered discrimination. I think all they would have to do is ask you not to attend if there is a outbreak of something.
Edited to add - great minds think alike!! we posted the same thing at the same time

Discrimination is discrimination. Imagine if they tried to refuse a child based on the number of fingers they had, or whether they were born in a hospital or at home... Or if you were refused entry to university based on your immunisation status. Immunisation is a choice in this country.
it is ileagel as the others said to discripimate against them for not being vaxed however at aprivate school or kindy where they have so many aplicants they would find a way around it i doubt they would come out and say you kid cant come here cause they arenot vaxinated but they may use another excuse such as ther kids names down first ect

I'm not 100% sure that they can't, but as if a Montessori school would refuse on that basis!

Your MIL is wrong. You just need a conscientious objection form. They maintain the right to exclude your child if there's an outbreak, but can not deny your child a place because they're unvaxed.
Having said that, that could very well claim to have no vacancies for a veeeeeery long time if you hear what I'm saying. So best keep it on the down low til you actually get in :)
