the short answer is yes, you can do it.
the long answer is...
you can get some 'dampness' coming through if the clothes over the top are mostly cotton and the nappy is saturated. this is because of the breathability of the wool and the fact that the wool also works by absorbing the wetness that comes out through the nappy. but if you don't leave it on until the nappy is absolutely sodden, then it works well.

at night DS wears a bbb and wool cover, and singlet. because its getting so dam cold now he has his bonds wondersuit over the top of it

and he still hasnt woken up wet!

if its through the day you may end up with compression leaks though.

Yep we do it all the time. Sometimes Noah leaks through when he's got a knitted soaker on, but thats because he is doing monster toddler wees that will penetrate anything!!

We had to give up on jeans as when thw wool was compressed in the pram the jeans would think it was a nappy or something (the wool would be dry just the nappy would be damp and the jeans soaked!). Still use trousers over woollies for Church though.
