View Full Version : new needing Autism Help
HI there!!
I am a father searching for info on the ADOSG autism testing method. Our daughter Fin {she is 3.9} was observed using this method a couple of weeks ago with an outcome score of 4 on the first module. We are told she doesnt meet criteria for autism but nothing was mentioned about PDD and since the scoring criteria was not explained to us we are left wondering. Does anyone know the scoring system and criteria of ADOS? Could you explain it to us if at all possible. Thank You.
Coop
Hi Coop
I can't help with the info that you need....sorry. I just wanted to know if you will have an opportunity to discuss the results of your daughter's assessment with the professional involved any time soon?
Is your daughter just being assessed with the one test? Our son was diagnosed after completing the Psychoeducational Profile Revised, his behaviour was rated on the Childhood Autism Rating Scale and we (his dad and I) completed the Achenbach Child Behaviour Checklist. I also completed a questionaire about sensory issues (Short Sensory Profile I think). We then went on to see a speech pathologist, and paediatrician and get his hearing checked before his diagnosis was confirmed (he saw an OT and psychologist during his initial assessment). I think it takes input from many different professionals, a child's parents, as well as having different tests conducted on different days to get definitive diagnosis for autism (or any other developmental disorder). So I was wondering if you had been offered anything else for Fin?
From the little I could find about the ADOS, it is used to diagnose PDD-NOS as well as autism, so it should have shown up in your daughter's results. Maybe you could arrange a follow up appointment to ask any questions you have and discuss the PDD issue?
