Hi,
I love the sound of hunter rose. i think is is a great little girl name and it wont outgorw her either.
i am expecting baby no 2 in sep and we have picked out soraya
I like the names Tirra, Aurora, Willow, Zara, Imogen, Annabella, Isla, Kiara, Marella, Camille, Christa, Tasha, Miriam and Xanthe. These are names you don't hear too often.
Good luck. Naming babies was one of the hardest things I ever had to do :p

Hi there Ela23, My name is Haana Rose, so I am biased with Hunter Rose... Another really neat name is Harper, I like this one alot... Much to the disgust of my Husbands family... We are due with bub #3 in August and aren't sure what I am having yet, we have 2 girls already, Their names are Raoni Rose and Lily June, I was going to call Lily, Lily Rose, But my husbands mum felt left out as my middle name was named after my mother, So June comes from my mother in laws middle name... This time around I don't care about anybody, I really love the name Jude for a boy and my husbands family hate it, All the more reason to call him that... I also like Bella Grace for a girl, which they say sounds like a dogs name, I love it, and if my husband was going to pick up a baby book to help with the decision making then maybe just maybe I would consider his ideas... :)

I love all those names too. Harper and Hunter especially, and I know someone with a little girl named Aurora, just beautiful.
We have had a girl's name picked since our son was born, over 3 years ago, Jenaya Paige. Our only problem will be the spelling, as his ex was called Jennifer and he wants to spell it Genaya.
I just hope we don't get sick of it by the time it comes to choosing :)
I understand Haana about the husband thinking about it too. I found I have to walk around the house with a book going "how's this? what about this one? etc".
Much easier if he reads it!
Have fun
Christine.
My partner picked our sons name, from the sound of things i was lucky he took an interest :)
I worked in childcare before having my son and some of the girls names were SAVANNAH, KALIA, SIENNA, LAYNE...they are the only ones i can remember, that must say something about those kids  My sisters middle name is Siane.
Just make sure that the name you choose doesn't sound funny with your last name and that it doesn't give them embarassing initials, (like P.M.S., thats mine, for a few more weeks til I get married) but then my name will sound funny with my partners last name so i really can't win either way :(
Anyway, just something to think about :D

Harper Rose and Hunter Rose both sound beautiful. Rose must be one of the most popular middle names as I work in a public library and i see it all the time now, maybe just take more notice because my daughters middle name is Rose.
Good luck
I think that girls are easier than boys, its a good thing I have not had a son  .
I like Cadence (music ?), Aurelia or Aurelie (golden), I LOVE Anastasia (but its too long for our surname), Amelia (but we already have a cousin, Millie)
Best of luck (you both need to like what ever name you choose), our DD2 was named the only name hubby and I could agree on :o
Cheers
ps do check out the initials, my hubby swears he knows a family with the surname Ness (or something v similar) and with sons Andrew and Peter. Think of it, A Ness and P Ness (you'd think after the first you'd be sure to make sure DS2 didn't suffer that same problem ;) - perhaps its an urban legend... )

My partner and i had such a hard time naming our daughter. She was 5 days old and we had left the hospital before we named her. In the end i got my pick on the first name and dad picked the middle.
I love unusual names like Echo and Chardonay but there was no way my partner would let me chose a name like that.

Hi guys,
As an ex-teacher I thought I would just throw in a few comments that you may want to consider (these are just what I think - feel free to disagree!!).
1) YES definitely think about initials
2) YES make sure you think about your surname
3) Think about possible shortenings - kids are cruel (I'd worry about Harper getting "Harpie")
4) Give your kid a name that they could cope with if they are shy, acne-riddled, having learning difficulties etc. Your kid may be the most quirky, outgoing, popular, smart kid in the school (in which case they could get away with being called Stinky) but on the other hand they probably won't.
5) Be VERY careful with names that could be either male or female (especially for boys, as names tend to 'drift' in the female direction - just ask a man called Kelly or Tracey what they think of their name!).
6) If a name has a standard spelling USE IT. It's a pin for kids to constantly have to spell their name.
Good Luck!
Lucy
Absolutely agree with Lucy!!
Uncommon names are great, but to want to call a kid Chardonnay is just cruel. Just because you like the sound of the "word" doesn't make it a name. Just think of the teasing they'll get at school - lots of kids get teased but why guarantee it by giving them a ridiculous name?
Just my 2 cents...
Its all too hard when my daughter was born she was nameless for a few days as both my husband and myself did not want to make a bad call on the name as it is so important these days to get it right or its never forgotten. We decided on Zara as our daughters name.
My name is Feriel i have sisters called Fadeliah, Soraya, Aisha and Kallila. :D
thanks all, there are some great names, i guess the child will make the name when they establish there personality :) .

My husband and I picked Atahlia Shilo for our girl, before we fell pregnant we both just clicked with the name. Although I'm now due with our second bubs in july and we still haven't picked a girls name, so if it's a boy we will be right. We don't give names out until the bubs is born due to opinions of others and it also makes it exciting to tell everyone at the end. Don't worry too much about not having the name some people swear that when they see the bubby they know what name suits. Please let us know what you decide and good luck. :D
Hi all,
My husband and i are due in august with our 2nd child of this marrige. (I have 2 and he has 1 from previous relationships) Any way we like different names two our son is Jazz Salvatore. Some girl's name we like are Italia and Caprice, which are Italian. The hardest thing is thinking about what the names could be shorten to. And please do remember the initals, i had to grow up with the initals V.D! and my dads was B.A.D. I also knew a friend whos were L.O. but so was her mums and sisters!! Which made mail time confusing. :o
My husband and I named our 7 month old Scarlett,... It never fails to get a gasp of delight from people when they hear it!

Hunter Rose is beautiful.
My husband and I are expecing our first baby on 30th May and have had names picked out since before we even started trying. We wanted something unique also, because there is nothing worse than a name being called and 10 people answering. My name is an old Gaelic name - and i have never really liked it because i was always called Donna or Danielle. Can't tell you what we have picked because we still want it to be different but what we have done is look at our favourite books and movies for inspiration. Or just watch the credits at the end of shows for idea's. My sister and her husband combined their names - also an option if it works with your names.
The problem we have with the names we have chosen is that my husbands mother is VERY critical. She has said that she refuses to call our son by his name if we choose it. But in the end, its up to the parents of the baby. As you said, the child will make the name
Hope that helps and good luck.

Hi,
I think Hunter Rose is nice. People always say you'll know what to call them when you meet them. I don't know about that, but I also like Lillian Rose, Willow, Isabella or Belle, Erika. I don't know if that helps you but good luck. :)

How did you go?
I like both Anika Tamsyn and Hunter Rose.
I also like Tamsyn Rose.
Anika Tamsyn would go with a one syllable surname because of the sound or a three syllable surname.
Hunter Rose would suit a two syllable surname or a three syllable surname.
Tamsyn Rose would be the same as Hunter Rose.
I also like Thomazin and I liked Thomazin Amelia.
Hi
We found it really hard picking names. We wanted names we could do something with (eg. Jasamine can be Jaz and Alexa could be Alex), but we ended up going pretty conservative. We also quite liked boys names that were also girls names (e.g. I have a sister in law who is Aunty Jack - which has some unfortante connotations for people of our generation). I quite like Harper Rose (we have a nephew called Harper - and yes he does get Harpie).
I also like Anika Tamsyn. Both of the names you mentioned seemed to go well together in my mind.
I know a couple who recently had a daughter called Fuel.
You could always check out Kath and Kim for a few "unique" names apart from Epponnee Rose :) .
Good luck!

I love unique & unusual names! My'n is really boring! My older sister is called Billie-Jane, my dad & his 1st wife wanted Jane if she was a girl or Bill if she was a boy, in the end they just combined!!! :p
I am a nursery nurse, so have heard some gorgeous names come through the schools I liked, Jayminni, Piper-Louise, India, Sukki, Indigo, Arrianna. But I also love Irish names, if we have a girl we have had Bridie picked out for ages! But I have always really like, Niamh (Neave), Rhiordan, Sorcha (Irish gaelic for Sarah) and names like that. Our little boy is called Kye, which spelt this way means combat in gaelic.
Sarah xxx :)

Hi all,
We have a little boy named Charlie, but if (when) we have a girl, we both love the name Eva Grace. I would like it to be Eva Kathleen Grace, but we are still debating on that!!
cheers
Jennifer :)
Hi Ela23,
My daughter's name is Lily Rose. Iam pregnant with bub number 2 . Girls names I like are Caela Renae and Allyra Jayne.
I heard another unusual name for a girl I liked the other day - Verity. I just love that :p

my little girl is Elliot Leigh. we shorten to Elle and Elli. we also had Harper picked out. (might use that one next time)
thanks all for your suggestions. i am 5 days overdue and am currently now looking for a name that means "stubborn" :) i will be sure to let you know
I was pregnant with our first baby, we had an idea it was a girl so we had decided to call her Georgia. My mother suggested another way of spelling it and i loved it but my husband was completely against it. 9 months went by and it was a firm no until after a 15hr labour- i said "i want her spelling different" and he kissed me and said yep okay lets do it. So we spelt it Jorjia. Childbirth can be a wonderful thing... :o
Hi Becus,
Sorry I have only read the last thread, because it caught my eye. My first daughter's naming circumstances are quite similar to your daughters only we spelt our little girls name "Jorgia".
my gorgeous new daughter is Matilda Jayne (Jayne after my sister) my DH likes to shorten Matilda to Tilly, which is also cute, it can sometimes be hard to think of something unusual that is also not silly. ps i think Hunter Rose is a lovely name :)
I also liked Poppy, Bonnie and Piper, but my hubby wasnt to fussed on these.

Hi guys
We are also having our first baby in june and are having a girl.
We have picked out Hannah Rose.
Rose does seem like a popular middle name from all that I have read here, but as well as being feminine, its also a classic for a first or middle name.
I also like Hollie for a girl but unfortunately we called our little cavalier hollie !!!!!
We also contemplated Chelsea and Taylor.
I lived in Ireland for while and they have some beautiful names (although they're spelt a little differently.
My favourites are:
Niamh (Neeve)
Aisling (Ash-ling)
Saoirse (Seer-sha)
Aine (An-ya)
My step daughter is Saphron Rose, and it can be a bit of a hassle for her because she is constantly correcting people when they go to spell it with a ff, it looks quite nice though :)

Some girls we know....
Saxon, Mackenzie, Aidan, Piper, Alessia, Allegra
Hi All!
We named our daughter "Kaelyn Adeline" after both our mothers Kay & Lyn and my late grandmother Adeline. She is now 6 months old & very cute!! :)
I like the name Kaelyn, and all it's spelling variations, as a girls name. It seems to be becoming quite popular too.
But I have to admit, i'm a little disapointed as we thought we had picked an uncommon name for our son when he was born and now there are little girls called Kaelyn popping up all over the place.
My sons name is spelt Caelan.
I don't think i have heard of any boys called Caelan, not yet anyway ;)

When I was naming my daughter Hayley 8 years ago, I was tossing up between Caillin and Hayley. I chose Hayley because it is English. I am not really great with spellings etc. and had I thought of Kaelyn, that would have been English as well.
My Mum's friend has a Caelan. She was told it was a type of Colin I think. This was one of my favorite things once, this name. I am starting to forget now. It was my test of a good name book.
With my three year old daughter, I was thinking Callan for a boy.

Sarah O'Hare and Lachlan Murdoch's son ...... born recently....is Kalan Alexander.
Don't like the spelling much but just thought I'd mention it! :)
Hi,
My husband and I agree on NO names, I like very different unique names and he likes Plain names, he thinks that every name that I pick is silly and i think all the names he chooses are BORING!!!! i'm sure we will get it together and find a name that is great, fingers crossed anyway, but I have had a girls name in mind since i was in high school, it is different, still now i have only ever heard it once, it is the most beautiful name EVA (sorry cant share it just yet) but he is laughing at it, I guess I can always hope that he crumbles at the birth and gives me go ahead if its a girl...... :D
i'll keep tryna persuade him!!!!!!!! ;)
Hi Jiminy
I'm also in your position, I like different names and hubby likes plain ones. However, we were able to agree on names for our DDs (though we'd better not have any more girls, because we could only agree on one name for DD2!). I think that this is really the best way to find a name, because we do compromise. The names aren't so out there as to make our kids a target, but hopefully there won't be a classroom full of them either!
Cailin (when used as a girls name at least) is a gaelic form of the Irish "Colleen", meaning "girl". For DD1 my hubby got to choose between that and "Catlin" (sim to "Caitlin") but a closer gealic form of the original name "Catherine", which is derived from a greek word meaning "pure". While I'm at it, DD2 is "Brianne", one of the feminine forms of the celtic name "Brian", meaning "strong". (I had to do LOTS of research to get names that we both liked ;) ).
Best of luck, keep persisting and respect each other's vetos. You'll eventually agree on something.
Hi guys! I'm new at this, I stumbled on this website yesterday and I think it's great! I have 4 weeks of pregnancy to go with my first baby, we don't know what we're having I like the name Chloe if it's a girl but I'm struggling to find a middle name that goes, any ideas?
FiveLittleDucks
27-03-2005, 16:39
Chloe is a nice name. I would avoid a two syllable name because it won't sound as good when you say the whole name.
If you have a one syllable surname try a three syllable (or four) middle name.
If you have a two syllable surname try a one or three syllable middle name.
I find this help narrow things down. That is how I found my daughter's middle name Brook as there really wasn't any other one syllable names that fitted the meaning etc. that I wanted.

I love Hunter Rose, very pretty. I think that the baby grows into the name, when they come out they just look like a baby, not a name! We just had a little girl and called her Jessamy Brooke :)
hi bubbalove, I havn't heard of Jessamy before & I think its very pretty, just wondering how you came up with it, whether it is 2 names combined or if it is an old name what does it mean? :)
The best advice I have heard about naming your child is to pick a name you would be happy to have been called yourself.
The thing with unusal names is that they do tend to date what is trendy in 2005 can really date you in say 2015.
Not everyone is going to like the name you pick just as long as your daughter doesn't hate you for it!

When I was pregnant I had picked out "Tahlia Rachel" but my husband has an accent and couldn't say it right so she ended up "Jacki Michele" my second daughter is named "Jayme Lee"
I also loved the names Mahalia and Arabella much to the disgust of my husband, lucky we aren't having anymore children
i agree Mahalia and Arabella are both nice. i love AVA, i've seen alot of people say they like Eva which is nice but I think Ava is beautiful :)
Gosh us woman love to discuss our favourite baby names dont we?! I dont know about the rest of you but it seems to be something we even do as girls, i can remember my girlfriends and i gushing about our fav baby names when we were about 8 yrs old! :)

Yes we use to talk about baby names in our young days also when we were teens. My neice had a daughter and she wanted to put bothher mum & dads name in it (shane & janice) and she came up with the middle name shanice which I think is pretty.
I don't mind unusual names but not farout names that children will be teased with. I like the name Zali it's pretty
Kay
hey thats quite clever, shanice is nice :)

How about Amelia? Guy at work just had a bub and changed that name to Emilia. Very pretty.
my husband and i liked amelia until my best friend who is a casual school teacher said that every single amelia she knew were big sooky cry babies, it turned me off a bit after that :p still think its a nice name though :)
Isn't it funny how people you know influence your choice in names,
if there's someone you don't like at work or on tv then that turns you
off that name. I've tried to choose names where I don't know anyone
with that name.

My partner and I spent a who lot of time discussing names for our baby, if she had of been a boy she was going to be named after him as its a family tradition he was named after his father and his father wad named after his father and so on. But we had a girl, so we considered a lot of names but both decided on Anissa, he had some really old fashioned names which I wasn’t hot on, Because she is bi racial I really insisted on something different, other names we considered were Asia & Affrica. I Really like Hunter I think that’s cute.:D

I went to school with a boy called Olz his middlename was Thruster and his brothers name was Drimsby. Now they were very unusual names.
I think it is important that you pick a name for your child that won't affect them in later life. My father hates his greek name while his sister got a normal name. He has always told me to make sure his grandchildren got normal names so they will never be picked on.
I have seen my father cry over his name, (that was after a few drinks).
I have a daughter Caitlin Louise. But I love the name William for a boy or Alex for a girl for the next ones.

Hi there! Just had to tell you I ran into a family that I hadn't seen for years the other day. I used to look after their eldest daughter (now nine) in my room at the child care centre I used to work at. Her name was Maya.......when she was two her parents had a second baby girl and had great difficulties trying to name her. The poor bub was nameless for about two weeks and they still couldn't come up with a name they both liked. All they knew was they wanted it to start with 'M' like Maya.
I love the name Matilda, and suggested it, which to my delight they chose! Seeing seven year old Matilda the other day, who is just beautiful and really suits her name gave me a little buzz! :D
Hunter Rose is a nice name:)
I'm already being asked what names Ive thought off though my boyfriend's not too impressed with some of them lol
Ive always liked the idea of Savannah Nevada for a girl (Nevada was my mother's middle name) though in a way it sounds like a geographical location lol
I also like the name Callie but since I had a cat called that which recently passed away people are a little eek you can't call it that :/
I spose ive lots more time though to think of names - I find picking girls names the hardest at pres though

Hello
I love the name Anika or Hunter!!! My hubby isn't very into different!! We called our little girl Imogen - I really loved the name Amali - which if we have another girl I am hoping to twist his arm - it is a pity that my hubby hates it, hopefully it will grow on him!!!! I think he has realised that it is nice to have something a little different.......
Good luck with choosing
Imogen is a gorgeous name! It is quickly becoming popular as are some of the other names mentioned here.
Just thinking with all these names here, if we want to keep them off the Top 50 list, best not to print them all over the internet ;)
