well i guess i won't meet many bubhubbers there:rolleyes: , but being such a huge forum i was hoping that this might interest some of the mums interested in breastfeeding and related parenting stuff.

some of the things i am looking forward to are hopefully seeing pinky mckay(sp?) speak, the cloth nappy sewing workshops, and the shopping:D . oh yeah and the partying:smiliedance:

it's going to be a huge conference and one that is open to everyone but would be of especial interest to health proffessionals, ABA subscribers, and mums and dads enthusiastic about the importance of breastfeeding.
there's a kids programme too, but i am hopefull that i will get to go without kids.:smiliedance:

I never heard of it but it sounds like a great idea apart from the fact that I live Adelaide and on the web it said it was in Melbourne.. Is this right? Will they bring it to Adelaide or do i get to miss out??
Maybe you can pm me and let me know all about it

hi lochlans mummy, yeah, it's in melbourne only. it's the first time that ABA has done this big conference open for all it's members and subscriber sand anyone else interested, usually they have smaller conferences in each state for their counsellors only.

i am in qld myself, but i am going to travel to melbourne for it. the website i posted the link to has all the info, on travel accomodation and assistance with the kids. ( the are running a kids program as well for kids with a carer). maybe if it is succesful evry state will get a turn at having it.

i can't wait and the fact that i get to travel and have a bit of a holiday is great as i mightn't have ever got around to it without some sort of goal like this to go to.

No shame!

I was going to ask about this. I am interested what will happen ther - is it just a social thing - is it for ABA members only?
ETA - sounds interesting would like to meet up.

it's a conference and will have many guest speakers giving lectures, workshops and the like.
there will also be shopping and socialising, dinners, lunches, breakfasts, and even a pre conference trip to the zoo....:D
everyone is welcome to come along, not just ABA subscribers, although i think that registration is cheaper if you are a subscriber and register early.
pricewise, it's inline with most conferences, but for non conference goers that can seem a bit steep at first, medical proffessionals can gain points or something by attendidng conferences, and they are available at this one too, so sometimes work will pay costs if you are in a health related field.
many ABa groups have been working hard to fundraise and gain grants to enable them to help out members with travel assistance or fee's so lots of mums will be able to go from all over australia:smiliedance:

it will be great to meet up there. maybe i need a bubhub ribbon? :detective:

not going this year, as my little bub has only just made her appearance!! but i'm definitely interested in going next year!!

my mum used to be an ABA (well, NMAA back then) counsellor back in the 80s, and i remember going to the state based conferences with her!
