Hi all
My D is starting to get very mobile now and is staying awake for 3 - 4 hours at a time during the day - which poses the question: What to do with her!!!
Naturally some time is spend feeding, changing etc and then I let her crawl around on the floor and play with toys - she is happy to do this but I just feel I should be more 'involved' rather than trying to do the washing, cooking, cleaning etc.
We read books as part of her going to bed routine - so before every sleep we go to her room and read a couple of books before she goes to bed... And we go for a walk once a day but that is probably more for mum than bub!!
Can you suggest any other activities that I can do with her?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I get at a loss sometimes too.
Something fun that Andrew loves if he is bored of playing on his own - i grab his dummy, hold it in my mouth (the handle part, not the gummy part!) and crawl around on the floor....then he chases me! I let him catch me sometimes and he grabs the dummy back. Then I take it back again....and so on ! He loves it, cracks up laughing! Plus it exhausts him (and me!) so he goes to sleep easier at his next nap.
Its fun getting down to their level and just mucking up, and they love it too :)
Sometimes Andrew gets an impromptu bath, especially cos its been so hot lately. He just plays in there to cool down and has a great splash around. I jump in with him sometimes too :) Heaps of fun!
Thats all I can think of, its too early for my brain. Hopefully I'll be back later with some more ideas
A pack of cards or some small toys in an old tissue box will give them hours of entertainment.
I have to second the deck of cards - discovered this one last week!
Also the usual suspects...old mobile phones and remote controls are great!

Oh yes !
We ended up searching high & low to find a baby phone hehehe which bubs got for christmas & its been a case of him passing up all his other new toys etc & wanting the phone ! Amuses him for hours !
I also found that sitting bubs with pots pans & wooden spoons so we could both play drums lol he loves this !
I also play little singing games with bubs trying to teach him to clap atm so we do lots of practice clapping singing little songs. Oh & have you tried the "this little piggy" or "round & round the garden" song /games ???? My bubs loves these & would have me do it all day im sure !!!
There's a fantastic section at the Aus museum (sorry, I hope that's near you!) for babies to crawl around and do baby stuff in! It's called kids Island. And the power house has the same sort of things.
But if that's not near you, try calling the local places, there's bound to be something similar, it's a huge success!

I do that with MJ too :D She thinks its great fun. It does come as a bit of a shock when she crawls over first thing of a morning, takes her dummy out & shoves it in my mouth though :p
MJ's a little smaller but anything that is noisy she loves :) Whether its slapping the floor or having a yelling match, the louder it is, the more she laughs ;)

She just loves crawling all over me so thanks Nicole, I will try chasey too!!
Am taking her swimming in the morning and are also looking to enrol in Gymbaroo. Has anyone else tried Gymbaroo with a 9 month old??
Thanks again

I havent tried gymbaroo but a few mums at my group have been taking their daughters since they were 3mths & love it as do the kids !
Im afraid we cant afford it so its off our list right now but im hoping to get my bubs into swimming soon once home life has settled a bit more so i think thats a great idea especially as swim safety is a must IMO.
Whereabouts are you located please say somewhere near me so i have someone to go with to swimming :p ;)
