Hello everyone,
I thought that I would share my story with you all..
First of all I was 9 days overdue, and on the day of my meant to be induction I went into labour all by my-self (YAY!). It all started on Friday the 9th of September when I woke up with a chronic back ache, my mum and partner were sure I was going into labour but I was still a bit skeptical.. Nope nothing happended on Friday or Saturday (except all I could do was pace around the house - no sleep either though for the 2 days! As every time I went to lay down my back would just ache and ache). Then on Sunday enough was enough I was meant to go to the hospital at 12pm for induction, but by 8am I had enough and went into town. When we got there all prepared to have the baby, the doctor did an internal and I was only 3cm dilated , and as the hospital was quite busy they had to send me home, but they did give me some sleeping tablets so I could have a rest (which considering was quite nice of them!). So off home we went, and I went to sleep (A whole hour, but it was GOOD!):D . By 3pm I had well and truley had enough, so once again we packed my bags and set off for the hospital, when I got there they did another internal and I was now 6cms dilated and in a fair bit of pain so they gave me a shot of pethidine which quite personally didn't think did any thing! At 5pm they came in to break my waters to move things along a bit, which really didnt. At around 9pm I felt the need to pooh (or push!!). I was pushing for ages and the doctor told me the baby would be out by 10:30pm at the latest, which was really reassuring but then it probably wasn't the best thing to do as I kept looking at the time and concentrating more on that then pushing! I was pushing and pushing and it didn't really fell like anything was happening. I was so tired from not having any sleep and I didn't have the energy to keep going. The mid wive then checked the babys heart beat and it seemed to be dropping which meant the baby was getting distressed, the other doctor called in another doctor (who was at home getting some sleep!) as they really needed to get the baby out QUICK! Luckly the other doctor was there within in 10 minutes! By the time the other doctor came the heart beat was dropping more rapidly so they decided to use Ventouse extraction method, as this time I didn't care as long as the baby was out and healthy. So they used the ventouse but at the same time had to cut me - all the way from my vagina to my bottom a 3rd degree tear and the unfortune thing for me I didn't have an epidural so I felt the WHOLE thing! At 11:27pm - Septmber 11 2005 Jacob John was born, very healthy except for the big red circle on his head the poor little munchkin! Oh and he weighed 7pounds 11 ounces and was 52cms long.
I would do it all over again 100 times for my precious one, he really puts the sunshine in my day! We are so excited about having a little baby we can't wait to have another - hopefully around the same time this year!
Thanks for listening to my story sorry it's so long, but it feels good to tell someone!
xx Mel
