I've been reading a recent thread in 'General Health Issues' where someone suggested putting a couple of phone books under the top end of baby's cot to put them on a slight angle to help them breathe better when they have a cold. (I actually put a pillow under my son's mattress which did the same job and yes, he did seem to breathe better).

I had a thought that this might help an unsettled baby sleep better? I say this because when my son was a newborn he always fell asleep in his rocker (even when not rocking) better than he ever did in his cot and always suspected because of the angle is was on. Not to rub it in to you poor Mums but I can't test my theory because my son is a good sleeper when he doesn't have a cold.

So for all those desperate mothers, here's just something else to try! You have nothing to lose!

We did a similar thing with our son's cot and put bricks under the legs on his head end. I was told to do it to help babies who have trouble with colic.

We have an entire set of encyclopedias under Troys mattress, lol.

But he only sleeps in the cot at night, during the day he is in the pram and he sleeps better when sitting up (with a car seat head snuggler to stop him falling over). Then I go and park him in the laundry with the washing machine or dryer going.
