View Full Version : baby capsules
:) hi i was thinkin of hiring a baby capsule when i have my baby in august, has anyone else done this.
We r then goin to buy a car seat, just wanted the capsule when newborn to get out of hospital and those first couple of months when still tiny and may fall asleep in the car.
Anyone have any suggestions if this is a good idea or were to hire them from.
if not what sort of car seat have u got for your newborn
thanks

I think they're great and I've hired one for both my bubs as newborns.
DD went into a carseat at about 4 months and DS at six months.
You can hire them from the Ambulance - in QLD it costs $60 for six months hire. They're very clean (actually the one I got was brand new out of the box). They fit them into your car for free and when you take it back they'll fit your new carseat as well
I like the capsule because you don't have to wake them up getting in and out of the car - they sleep so much as newborns (mine did anyway lol).

Yep we hired one for DS he used it for about 5-6 months. It was $60 for 6 months it's a great idea. Give your local council a call and they will let you know who hires them out in your area. I would ring around as some charge a bit more than others but I wouldn't pay more than $60 a month.

they are fantastic...we have 2 cars so the capsule is in my hubbys car as we use that more when we go out and our bubba is 7 months old and still in it (although for not too much longer as she is nearly at the weight to get a forward facing car seat).....we hired ours through our local hospital...
in my car we have a rearward facing Safe n Sound Royale car seat.....its fantastic too....spend a bit more but get a good product........I would rather have paid more for a good car seat than spend money on other things....
good luck
We hired a capsule for DS#1 and DS# 2 and 3 and it's the best thing especially when they are asleep. The down side is they do get quite heavy and hard to carry. We're paying about $77 per capsule and I have hired 2.
i didn't hire a capsule but bought one that fit newborn to 18kg, reversible, so can use it for awhile. it's hipod from target and $240, but one of the safest rated from Choice
