Hi ladies,

DP and I were just discussing when we'd have another bub, and I've got my heart on a homebirth vbac next time.
I know a few people here have had successful home vbacs and I'd love to hear your stories!

Thanks

:hugs:

Yep, found it eventually Phin, lol.
In answer to the OP, yes, I have had 3 in 3 years at home after my c/s...though admittedly, the 1st was a HB as was the plan with the one I transfered for, that ended in the c/s. Guess that means I have had 1 HBPC, and 3 HBAC's, hee hee!
I would not have attempted a VBAC in a hospital, as I felt they are way too geared to a repeat ceaser.
Good luck with your choices and feel free to pm me with any questions, no matter how silly they may seem.

I would love to have a home VBAC but when I researched it, it appeared that you couldn't have a homebirth if it was a VBAC in WA.. does this sound right? Sorry I dont' mean to overthrow your thread - I'm really interested in everyone's stories. I had a really traumatic emergency caesarean and am wanting to do it VERY differently next time.

Cordelia,

I'm not sure what the situation is in WA- but could you hire an independent midwife??

I live in Qld and the only way to have a midwife at your homebirth is to hire her independent of the hospital- we have no publically funded, hospital supported homebirths in our state (which sucks)

Hi Nicole I have just sent you a PM on HBAC midwives in Perth.

Good luck.

Hi Cordelia, I had my HBA*2*C in Perth, so you definately can have a vbac at home here in WA.

The CMP doesnt have funding to do them at present, you may have to hire an IMW (I can give you details of a few IMWs names and numbers if you like). I know quite a few HBAC women at my Birthrites group. What you need to do though, is alert the CMP that you want a HBAC, as they are collecting stats of women requesting them, to speed up the funding required from the government to provide them....so please phone and apply to help accelerate the cause

Have you joined Birthrites: Healing after Caesarean? www.Birthrites.org (http://www.Birthrites.org)

We have a NOR meeting in Dianella this Friday....pm me for details if you like, the next SOR meeting is 6th of June in Leeming.

Also, we have a midwife at Birthrites who does VBAC prep classes if you are interesed....let me know, the next classes are in July I believe.

Birthrite's support were a crucial pillar in my HBA2C success

Thanks ladies.

I've had a few emails about this and I just wanted to clear something up -

I'm NOT pregnant!!
Just wanting some feedback for when (if) I do have another bubby and try for a HBAC.

hi,

There was no way I was going to risk a hospital birth. For me, homebirth VBAC was the only way to go, and it was brilliant. My only birth where there was not even one tiny complication (i.e, no tearing, practically no blood loss, etc). I would have had an initial home VBAC with my second child but I was living with my in-laws at the time, so it wasn't an option. Luckily, I was in Sydney at the time and had access to the wonderful birth centre at the RPA, so had a water birth. Here in Melbourne, the only way I could get a waterbirth was to have my baby at home, let alone I'd have had to fight the system just for the basics, such as no continual monitoring. To think of how my perfect third birth COULD have turned out, had I gone to a hospital, is scary!
