My little man has been in daycare now for 2 days per week for about 4 weeks....a few little things have happened and I just don't know whether I'm being too picky (ie bad experience with daycare when he was younger) or not...so, here they are...what do you think?
another kids nappy was put on him rather than his own (both his and the other kids had their names on)
his water bottle hadn't been touched (ie I put a mark where the water was up to and it wasn't any less full...I asked them if they fill the water bottles up during the day...they said no. They do have a bubbler there, but I know my son would just not drink out of it)
they haven't been able to get him to have a sleep during the day. I have told them about 6 time, written in our communication book etc that he MUST have his dummy or else he just WONT go to sleep.Am I just being too picky?:o

I would ask to speak to the director. They need to care for him as you would care for him. Little things like nappies and dummies etc arent all that hard!! I would put in a complaint
IMO - yes and no.
The nappy thing is an easy mistake to make - especially if "home" nappies are stored in the same basket. I had it happen with both kids a bit. In the beginning I minded, but figured a nappy was a nappy, and it only had to last just over an hour until bath time anyway.
Most centres offer drinks (apart from whatever you might send) at meal times, so it could well be that they are providing him with milk at morning tea, and water in their cup at lunch time and afternoon tea. Does he seem excessivly thirsty when he gets home? If not, then he is probably getting enough fluid through the day. Just ask the carers if this is what they do, rather than just assuming that they aren't oferieng him drinks.
Getting children to sleep whilst they settle into daycare is the hardest thing of all. Most children go from sleeping in their own room to sharing a room with 3 or 4 others at daycare, who all sleep at different times. The sounds of a daycare centre are also immensely different to those of home (always noisier!), so IMO he is still getting used to the different sleeping conditions at daycare.
All that said, you are his mum and we always worry when we put our babies into daycare. He is still really new to the childcare experience and is still setting in.
I would put in a complaint
Personally, I wouldn't make a complaint as such, but would first chat to the room leader about your concerns. They should be able to give you all the answers to your questions.
Good luck - I have had children in centre based cared now since the end of 2002, plus worked in centre based care myself for a number of years.
Apart from the TT issue and the temp issue I've had no problems with the boys centre and they've been there since beginning of Feb.
I know that once one of the boys had a different nappy on, but the girls told us as soon as we picked them up that Jord was wearing a different nappy coz he ran out.
The boys have a 2 to 2.5 hour nap at home... but we're lucky if we get 45 mins to an hour at childcare... I think Roxy's right.. there's a lot more happening at a centre than at home... so harder to get them to sleep. He might settle into it.. or just do what we do and put him to bed early on child care days.
With the water, I know that sometimes the boys water bottles don't look touched at all... but they have a big jug of cold water which they keep on the bookshelf and the kids drink this out of cups all day... as well as the bubblers outside. So maybe just ask them how they make sure they're getting enough drinks during the day...

i would agree with speaking to the director.
if you are not happy with a few things then you might need to bring them up with him/her.
it is hard to trust our children in others hands and they would know this so they should be able to make you feel better
:hugs: hope it all works out
