I have put in a report to docs re my cousin as in the last month there power and phone have been disconnected and everytime I ring my dad is stoned to the point of not being able to hold a conversation

I am worried about it now and him but I think it is for the best

I just rang his school to speak to a counsellor and she was so rude she said to me "if you are so worried why aren't you there... and I turned around and said I live on the other side of the country with a family of my own it is not that easy to uproot my life to go there and not be able to change the situation anyway..."

apparently he is already seeing a consellor so I thought that made her rudeness even worse - I feel bad enough as it is and she has the nerve to have a go at me for trying to make a 13yr olds life better!!!

I was only trying to draw there attention to him that he may need a little support.

Have I done the right thing???

You did the right thing:yes:
The counsellor is probably just worried the the boy herself and also frustrated at his family:hugs:

You'd never forgive yourself if something happened and you could have done something beforehand.

You have, you're very caring and it's not your fault an incompetent counsellor was unhelpful.

If things don't shape up, call the principle and ask if any other school counsellors are able to help you.
