This looks so cool. I found this on the Make Poverty History website - we're going to do this with our church and maybe even get some schools involved.
Help create the world’s longest banner for Make Poverty History
Southbank, Victoria
7 July 2007
On Sunday, 01/07/07 …the halfway point to achieving the Millennium Development Goals
Southbank, Victoria, Australia. We are aiming to achieve a Guinness World Record by building The World's Biggest Banner on the 1st of July 2007.
We are aiming to achieve a Guinness World Record by building The World's Biggest Banner on the 1st of July 2007. This year, people from all over the world will send their poverty-related banners (3m long x 1m high) to Melbourne, Australia to be joined together. On the 1st of July we will lay out the banner along Southbank to be shown to the public as a display of the people's commitment to achieving the ultimate goal of Making Poverty History. At 1 pm we will raise the banner to hold a minute's silence from Alexandra Gardens to South Bank to reflect on the 30,000 children that die each day as a result of extreme and unnecessary poverty.
How can you get involved?
Anyone can be involved with the World's Biggest Banner! If your school, church, uni or community would like to get involved - email your details to banner.group@gmail.com and we would be happy to send an information pack out to you.
