Hi Sunnyday,
When we first signed with IVF we told no-one... then I told 2 friends interstate.... then I told a friend here who had been through IVF herself.... then I told another friend... but told no family members.... but then my hubby told my folks and he has told his brother and friends..... I was trying to keep it a bit low key.... but eventually it gets out. I just don't want the fuss when it doesn't work. I am not on good terms with my mother at the moment.... never really been close to her anyway.... I will take a week off work in May when they do the transfer, etc.... I just don't want the stress of it all.....
Have a good day everyone.....
Love,
Andrea
xx

Maybe me
Hey did you guys tell many people when you were doing ivf. I remember the very first time we didn't tell anyone except for my mum, only because i needed her help with the girls, & then next time we told a few others, my sister, DHs mum & his sister. This time i've only told mum & my girlfriend. I found it was harder when more people knew. I was always worrying about them & how they were feeling about it (when it didn't work) or even what they were saying about me. That sounds silly, i know, & they were forever asking if it had worked & when you would find out the results not all the inbetween things that were happening to me.:ecomcity: :ecomcity:

You actually hit the nail on the head.... since joining an IVF Chat Group it does make it easier to chat about what you are going through and then keep it more low key with friends/family members.... especially family members - because not all are well meaning.... most gossip.... that is what I am annoyed about.... the gossiping behind ones back.

Yeah she the biggest b**ch i know. My DH's mother should have never told her in the first place:shame: so next time we have decide to try and keep it a secret. Especially now that i have found you girls i have someone else to talk to who knows what im going through:yelclap: :smiliedance:

Hi everyone

Hope you are all travelling well. Congratulations Bradysmum for being the 100th page first post, and a big :hugs: to Beatrice for starting this great thread.

IVFMummy - DH moves around a lot with his job and at the moment we are in a really quiet location and :smiliedance: I am not working! After :fingerscrossed: EPU and :fingerscrossed: ET the biggest fear I have is that my very sociable friends will try to make me get out and about.

Sunnyday - Only two of my closest friends know about our journey and trusting them was hard, but the best thing we could have done - when we travel to the clinic (four and a half hours one way) they take care of DS, feed our pets, feed us, and generally help us to make all things possible. I hope they know how much I appreciate them.

It was hard not telling my own mother, she is a midwife and also had problems ttc, as a result I am an only child - not much pressure for grandchildren then! Don't want to get her hopes up though. Both my parents and IL's live overseas so it is not hard to hide it from them.

Am going away for the weekend - to have my scan etc. Will try to check in next week.

Take care everyone, all the best.

Hi everyone!! OMG I can't believe how busy this thread has been lately. I haven't had time to post lately with my parents down for the weekend etc....

Let's see if I can catch up with most people..

First, hi to all the newbies, Miche, Kelly, Gravel, Babybernie, IVFMummy, and Blaize. Good luck on your journeys :fingerscrossed: for all of you and congratulations Kelly on the safe arrival of your little one!! I love hearing success stories such as yours.

Bradysmum, Wow, Brady is 4 months. How time flies, hey?? Enjoy every moment!!

Beatrice, I'm glad to hear that your scan went well, but I am still concerned about your bleeding. I really hope that it stops soon so that you can feel a little less stressed. It's also great that you are eating more. I was like you in the beginning, eating whatever I felt like which was usually totally different from my normal diet. Only in the last couple of days have I been feeling a little bit normal again and reverting back to my usual eating ways (only a little more in quantity). Take it easy, Beatrice.

Mum2jo, hi there!! I get to see my babies again on Monday at my 13 week scan. I am praying that all is well and I don't get any bad news. If all is okay at the scan I think I will be feeling a little more relaxed.

Miss Ellie, sounds like you had a lovely time at the gala ball!! I rarely get to go to things that like so when I do I usually get done up to the nines and really let my hair down. Hope you did the same!!

Leanne, I know what you mean about the nasal spray. It is a bit yucky and does give you the ocassional headaches, but it is definitely worth it in the end. Hang in there!!

Shajake, how is your little man? I hope he is feeling better soon. And has your AF arrived yet. Why is it that it is always late when you don't want it to be??

Mandymoo, only one for sleep for you love. I know what you are going through today. I remember exactly how I felt the day before and on the day of my BT when I was waiting in the reception area. I was literally shaking. I have everything crossed for you!! Can't wait to hear your news.

Sunndyday, how are you going? Hopefully you are travelling along okay.

Sunflower, hope you are doing okay too. Haven't heard from you in a while...

Spiral, how are you and your little bub. You must be very close to 10 weeks by now. How exciting for you. I know that is when I started to think "hey, this must be real". Hope to hear from you soon.

Michelle, still packing? Not long now until the big move.

Kerry, how are you going? The weeks seem to be flying by at the moment and it will be time for you to have your baby before we know it. Can't wait.

I am really starting to get a little belly this week (12 weeks). It's starting to get really rounded and hard down low but is a bit softer still up towards my belly button. My size 8 clothes are certainly a very tight fit now and on the weekend I actually starting wearing my maternity pants. I have bought some fairly funky ones from Pumpkin Patch and with a long boob tube over the top you can't tell that they are "fat pants".

Only 5 more sleeps till I get to see my babies again :D My DH is coming with me this time and it will be the first time he has actually seen them on the screen and not just the picture that I take home. He is really excited!!

Big :hugs: to everyone. Sorry it took me so long to post but I am still struggling to keep up at work because of my reduced hours!! Hopefully will get on again soon.

Lisa

First a big :fingerscrossed: to Miche for today's result ... we are all with you ...

Gravel : thank you for your kind words and thank YOU for being with us ... It sounds like you live pretty far from a big city ... good to have people you can trust when you go away ... good luck for you scan ... and let us know how you are going ...

ivfmummy : you are an early bird !! I remember been very exited when I started the spray because I felt like I was really starting the IVF treatment ( even if the spray was not the best thing !!! ) . It's good that you ca take few days off after transfer .. you'll need to relax for a while ( even if they say you can go back to a normal life .. but I could not !! ) .

Hope everyone is traveling ok , Take care.

Fablis ... nice to hear from you again .. I was starting to be worried !!
That scan is going to be a great one .. a big change .. don't forget to bring your tape ...
I'm like you , I feel like having a scan every week to see if everything is fine !!!!!
I'm feeling better everyday , and I've been feeling hungry at night during the last few days .. which is good .. and I started to put on weight ...

Mandy :Just one sleep to go ... how are you feeling ? ...:fingerscrossed: for you tomorrow ...

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all having a great morning. Well "hot" i am feeling fairly hot, i have a dull headache. Last night i went to bed thinking, well this spray isn't too bad, i can handle this and then woke up through the night boiling. I just keep on drinking cold water maybe that will help. Other than that i am feeling okay. Spoke to my nurse again this morning, she is so lovely, i am lucky to have her to chat with. We just chat about everything, the cycle, shopping anything, its really good to have her. I have told my best girlfriend about the ivf, she is coming for lunch today, she does remedial massage and so i am lucky, i will get a little massage from her today, that helps with the stress, as i stress about everything and anything!
Well it was you Braydysmum, good on you for opening the 100th page, this is huge. I am glad you started this thread Beatrice, it is sure a great help to me. With not telling alot of people about the ivf, its great to come here and talk with all of you great people.
ivfmummy: Don't worry about getting too excited, i do that to myself as well. I say " maybe i'm getting too excited, just incase it doesn't work", but you know, i say to my DH, if i don't get all excited about it, i will just be worrying and thinking what if it doesn't work and then i will get all depressed, beleive me it is better to be excited. I have gone the other way previously and i just got really depressed, once even cancelled a cycle because of it. So get as excited as you like!! I AM!!!!
Fablis, thankyou for thinking of me. I am okay, just have a few hot flushes and a bit of a headache. Glad you had a nice weekend.
Gravel, goodluck with your scan, have my :fingerscrossed: for you.

Well, i'd better go do some work, brought work home to do and havent even started yet & my friend will be here soon.

Hi Girls, a big :hugs: to everyone. This thread has really taken on a life of it own, so many new ladies. Too many of you to name but a big hello to you all.

I'm finally over the shock of the m/c but I find myself very irritable to people and things going on around me. Hopefully that will settle down soon.

Our specialist appointment is next Wednesday, then we will find out when we can start the roller coaster ride again. I'm eager to give it another go now, to get back up on the bike after I've fallen off. If that makes sense.

It's a late appointment on Wednesday so I'll let you know how we go on Thursday.

I had my appointment with the nurse yesterday it went really well although there is alot more to IUI than I thought! I also have to have injections (puregon) it's only a really small amount though becuase I'm so small the only problem is I have no fat to stick the needle in! lol I think I will get DH to inject in my bum
I have to have daily blood tests and then a ultrasound to check the size of my follicle and then the HCG trigger and then have the insemination 24 hrs later, it's alot more full on than I thought! Fablis, sounds like you had fun with your family on the weekend!!! WOW 12 weeks already, and your belly is getting harder, that is so exciting!!! Hi everyone!!!

Well I dont know if it was just me, but I havent been able to sign into this page for over a week - it said the website did not exist??????

Anyway I am very glad to see it is back and I can TRY to catch up with what has been going on with everyone!!

the worst thing is that i had trouble accessing the website when i needed you the most! I had a terrible week last week - on tues night I had terrible intense strong stabbing pains and haemmoraging. I was rushed to hospital and after a lllooonnnggg time waiting I was told that I couldnt have a scan until the next day. Bub was fine, and i was instructed to get straight to bed, and I also had some follow up tests and scans which all looked really positive.

I have had some blood the past few days, and i am hoping that it is just he old blood from the first bleed, but I am seeing the DR tomorrow and he said he may send me for another scan

it has been so scary and makes me paranoid - every pain i feel and every drop of blood scares me to death. I am just glad that all the tests so far have had good results, and i got to see the little waving sprout more often than I would have normally!

anyway huge hugs to you all, and I will try to catch up on your news!!!!!!

love spiral and sprout

Spiral, i just saw your post. Im so sorry you have to go through that. Thankgod your little one is fine. That must have been so scary for you!! I cant believe your computer wouldnt let you access the site, of all times when you needed us most!! You poor thing!!!

Please stay rested!! Did the doctor say what it could be from? Beatrice had a similar thing happen too. Very scary for you girls. My heart goes out to you. Please keep us posted on your progress. Take care Spiral and Sprout!!xoxoxox

Hey Bradysmum - I dont know why i couldnt get into the site - i tried 3 different computers too!!!!! It was so frustrating, and it seems it was just me, as you all have been chatiing still!

The Dr told me that a bleed at 8 weeks is common, as you would normally be having a period......I bled at 8 and a half weeks.......he said that a blood vessel on the placenta burst, and that there are thousands of them on the placenta, and he said that I am not M/C because my hormones levels are fantastic ( he said they would drop heaps if the placenta was coming away) He also said that because the pain was sharp and stabbing rather than cramping and spasming, that suggests a burst vessel, rather than a contraction......

it was a very scary ordeal - my hubby was amazing and strong and calm through the drama, he is so wonderful!!! I thought for sure sprout was gone, but the scan the next day and hearing that heart beat was wonderful.......cant believe how much i love that little bean!

Im just hoping that the blood at the moment is the old blood coming out and soon I can start to relax again and breathe!!!! I am 10 weeks on Friday, so I am nearly through the first trimester, cant wait!!!

love spiral and sprout

Hi Spiral :

Poor thing , I know exactly how you feel . That happened to me 2 weeks ago today . I lost a lot of blood and HAD TO REST strict in bed for 4 days . Little one was fine . I still have a collection ( heamatoma ) and I've been bleeding brown , dark blood for the last 2 weeks ( it started the next day after the thread ) . I've been having 2 scans since and I'm going for another third one soon . As long as it's brown , dark color , it means that's the residual from the bleed . It still freaks me out everytime I'm going to the toilet ...
Just keep your feet up .. and lots of rest ..

I've been having trouble to log on as well on the website ...

Talk talk you later all .

Hey Spiral, I'm sooooo sorry to hear what you have been thru. It is so unfair that these things happen to absolutely scare the wits out of us??? Thank God your baby is okay. Big :hugs:

IVFMummy, how exciting for you - starting Tuesday. Everything crossed for you.

Bradysmum, yes I had heaps of fun with my parents over the weekend. I also got very spoilt. Not only did Mum and Dad load me up with my first baby clothes (they're soooo cute) but Mum cooked a heap of meals for me to freeze, did all my washing and ironing and vacuumed and mopped the entire house. I am having chicken casserole with rice tonight, courtesy of my MUM - what a darling!!!!

Beatrice, yes me too, I wish I could have a scan every week. Then I probably wouldn't have a care in the world!! Hope your bleeding is settling down....

Sunnyday, I had forgotten about those terrible hot flushes. I suffered from them when I was using the nasal spray as well. Just remember that every hot flush and headache is worth it in the end :D

Cindy, I'm so glad to hear from you again. I love your message and all the positive vibes. I just know that things are going to work out for you, you'll see. Good luck with your next cycle.

Sunflower, there is a lot involved in IUI isn't there? That's the first time I have heard how it works. Don't worry about having no fat to inject. I didn't have much at all either but the nurses taught me how to sit down, bend forward and pinch my stomach so that my DH could do the injection. It works well!!

Hi all
well havent you all been very busy chatting today, it took me a while to catch up.
hope everyone is ok.

Ivfmummy: you sound exactly like me. i am so excited as well but think maybe i shouldnt get too excited incase it doesnt happen first time. And about telling people at the start we werent going to tell many people only our parents. then i told my 3 closest friends, 2 good family friends and my boss ( so i could organise shifts around my app). the only 2 people i havent told are my brothers because i dont what their wives to tell me they know it all when they havent even been through it. but i think i should tell them as they are my brothers. i might tell them over easter.

well today has been a good day no headaches yet:fingerscrossed:

when i went to see my nurse and asked her about nurofen and other drugs, she said that i pretty much cant take anything a pregnant women cant, and to just check with the phamacist if i was worried. i dont know what to do as i have just got a coldsore and iam prone to them. i have been told that pregnant women cant use coldsore cream. should i check with the chemist or am i just being a bit silly? coz i dont want this great big coldsore sticking out my lip for ages.

Miche :fingerscrossed: hope everything is ok.

its so soo cold here in melb

Leanne :For your cold sore , I would definitely have a talk with your pharmacist ...

Mandy, fingers crossed for tomorrow!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!:fingerscrossed:

Beatrice, when I was pregnant I played normal music, especially Robbie Williams (yum yum) and Bon jovi and guess what? Brady loves Robbie's songs!!! His fave one is Tripping, when he hears it he smiles so much!!! I used to also sing "I knew I loved you " by Savage Garden when I was pregnant and still do and he just loves it, makes him fall asleep, but makes me go all teary!!!

Spiral, hope you are fine!!

Evening all - you guys are so hard to keep up with - so many posts - I'm not even close to personals yet as I am still trying to keep track of everyone - I need a list!!!

As for me, I continue to inject my Lucrin each day. Still waiting for AF to arrive. I have been wondering if the Lucrin would stop it from coming and have been thinking I should ring my clinic to find out if this can happen (I'm only one day late though so I'm not too worried). Anyone else who has been using Lucrin - can you tell me when abouts you started on your Puregon? I think I remember something about day 5 of your cycle?!?!?

I have been interested in reading about the number of people you have all told about your journeys. We really struggled with this issue and hope we have made the right decision. We have let our immediate families know because they already knew of our fertility struggle. I feel that sometimes they tip-toe around us as I’m sure they feel they don’t know what to say. I have also told my boss due to needing time off work and a good work friend for a shoulder when I need it at work. Lastly, my best friend – who we know will likely go down the IVF road in the future due to PCOS – is also sharing the journey with me. Sometimes I get scared that too many people know and that the whole disappointments side will be amplified. I guess we are trying to control that by keeping a little more secretive about significant dates etc. If anyone has any more experiences/ advice with this issue I will eagerly read.

I’ve been wondering if there are any more Jens in this thread or if there is only me,… I’ve seen my name here and there but not sure if it’s referring to me or not - can anyone shed some light on this? :)

Enough rambling from me - hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday and an even better Friday ('cause that will mean it is almost the weekend!!!)

Babybernie, YES you are the Jen we are talking too!!! Silly billy!!!!:hugs: !!! I didnt want to tell alot of people about out treatment either but so many of them were asking "when will you have kids" "You've been married for a while, hurry up", "hurry up and make your in laws grandparents" used to drive me nuts, I think I just wanted them all to shut the hell up!!! Tell the people you trust and know love you. At least they will want the best for you!! It is hard when they ask how its going and what stage are you up too, especially if you are having a bad week, etc. So tell the people who you can be honest with and you can tell them, "I dont wanna talk about it" or "Im sad about this" And they will listen and try to understand. Sorry Jen, does that make any sense??

 It's been a long time since I've been called a silly billy - lol - you made me giggle.

What you said makes total sense to me and I think it's the point of view both hubby and I are coming from. It's just so hard to know the right thing to do - I'm used to being a pretty open person but it's like my self-preservation mode has kicked in. It's amazing the different sides to yourself you see when placed in a situation such as ours.

Thanks Bradysmum - and again- you did make total sense :)

Hi Babybernie,

Nice to hear fro you again ... and YES , it is you that has been mentioned previously !!! we look after everybody :hugs:

I don't know about Lucrin and Puregon because I have been on those medication but I'm sure someone will be able to help you .

Like Bradysmum , I had enough of questions every 5 minutes about falling pregnant . I made the choice of telling my close Family about IVF and few close Friends only ... could not be bothered answering the questions all the time ... I wanted to keep my energy for myself ... and I think it's something so personal and already not easy to go through that I did not feel like sharing with everyone ...;) .
How are you going with the injections ? let us know about your journey ...

Take care Jen ( yes , it is you .... !! ) .:D

Hi Jen .
Are you talking about the signature ? at the end of our messages ?
If it's the case , you need to go on the top of your web page ( if you are writing a post , it's on the top of this page ) and find the section "user control panel " , click on it and on the next page , on your left you'll find many sections like : signature , avatar , email / password ... click on signature ( I think ) and write what ever you want ... I hope that's what you are after .. otherwise , I hope someone else will hep you ...

Thanks Beatrice :)

The injections are fine - although I was scared of them when we started with our previous IUI's, I have now become used to them. I will add though that I am not particularly looking forward to when I have to have two a day (once the puregon starts.

I hope your bleeding has settled down and am pleased to hear you were feeling better today - look after yourself and take lots of care. I wish there was a smilie to send you a virtual bunch of flowers but I can't see one anywhere so I will have to make do with a :chef: and send you some virtual brownies - guareenteed to bring a smile to your face :)

Hi Leannej
I didn't realise that you couldn't use cold sore cream whilst undergoing treatment.... just makes us all realise how careful one has to be....
Try rubbing a cut orange on your lip or affected area.... apparently this will help heal the cold sore without the cream....
Let me know how you go with that one - ok? :fingerscrossed:

Hi all
well havent you all been very busy chatting today, it took me a while to catch up.
hope everyone is ok.

Hi girls. Well the result was a BFN - another bloody NO!!! But I'm ok - I think maybe my downer last week helped me prepared for it all abit better. Last month I was devastated.
SO - plan of attack - straight back into it. Taking Serophene days 2 to 6 of my cycle. Just wait for the good ole AF to come, I expect it will arrive on the weekend.
I know its disappointing but the financial strain of it all isn't the best either. We have just managed to max out our home loan and credit card. :crying: But good news is that we can re-mortgage and get abit more money. Its costing us out of pocket $1600 every month for a FET transfer!!! Oh Well - it will all be worth it in the end. Bradymum - i'm using your history as my goal post. 6 attempts for you wasn't it? Maybe I can make it by then. My DH just says "Keep going and going until we get there".
Hope everyone else has a great day.

Hi Mandy, Im so sorry about the result, I know how you are feeling right now. It took us 6 attempts for us to get pregnant and the funny thing is my DH had the problem not me!!! My ovulation was late and we never picked that up before until that cycle. We were the same as you and your DH, we were not gonna stop until it worked. Our first IVF cycle was in Feb 2004 and we did the 6 cycles up to March 2005. I couldnt stop and didnt want too!! Money wise was hard, we went through all our savings, borrowed off my parents and we still havent caught up at all, but yes, it is all worth it in the end, that is for sure!!! If you ever wanna ask me anything you can PM me or I can give you my email address.:hugs: :hugs:

Please take care, and Im so sorry this attempt didnt work.:hugs: :hugs:

Mandymooso sorry to hear of the BFN but you sound so positive and it's prob a good idea jumping straight back into it, goodluck for next cycle :fingerscrossed:

Beatrice yeah the iui is alot more full on than I thought at least I'll have something to do everyday so it should fly by! just have to wait for AF now but with easter coming up hopefully the next few weeks will also fly by, I've already started knitting a baby rug and a beanie to keep me occupied!

Jen just wanted to stay goodluck with your treatment and also sounds like I will be doing the same IUI treatment with the puregon shots that you did. Can I ask how many times you did it?

Well hopefully everyone has a great day!! I'm off to cook a Apple Pie :chef:

Hi everyone :)

Hey Mandy - as I'm only new I have only been following your journey over the last couple of days - I am really sorry to see your results - but gee the way you handle it is quite inspirational - you have such a positive attitude - all the very best for this new cycle :fingerscrossed:

Sunflower - we did the IUI twice and bombed out both times - we have male factor issues and in retrospect should probably not even have bothered with the second cycle - but I think we both wanted it to work desperately so just went along for the second ride - I'm more than happy to talk to you about our experience any time you like :)

Thanks for the avatar compliment Beatrice - it's actually a photograph I took and played around with a bit - I'm a bit of a frangipani girl.

I spoke with my clinic today and they have told me not to worry about the lack of AF yet and that being on Lucrin can defer the start of AF for up to 10 days - so we are still playing the waiting game,..... I am so not a patient person.

Hope everyone has had a lovely day :D

Hi everyone

well i got some coldsore cream from the chemist. the pharmasict said its fine for pregnant women coz its all natural injredients. so i finly got something for it this afternoon and it numbs it so its not hurting much. i just didnt want to take any risks, i know it was only going on my lip but the nurse said to just check everything with the pharmasit. coz we so so so want this first go to work. so im not going to take any chances.
my chemist might soon get sick of me asking questions, but oh well that what their there for.

Miche so sorry about you results. :fingerscrossed: for next time.

Hi girls,
Well you sure have all been busy typing. It has taken me a little bit to catch up on what ive been missing.
Babyburnie, just wanted to say hi and goodluck with your journey. I too havent told many people about my cycle, i am a pretty private person and don't like too many people to know, too many questions for me. Although last night my mum told me i was probably worrying too much, which made me upset but we talked about it and i explained to her that i need for her to be there for me not saying negative things, as that doesn't help me. I just get more upset. So just my DH and my mum and my girlfriend knows, but i think my girlfriend doesn't really know what to say, she just listens, but at least she is there for me if i need her. Hope that helps you! :fingerscrossed: for you!!!!!
Beatrice, it is so good to hear you talking about music for the baby, at least you must be feeling a bit better to be thinking of something else other than the bleeding, thats good for you, good on you. I hope all is well with you today, thankyou for all of your advise so far. I think for me the spray is maybe worse than the actual injs. I couldn't eat much last night i felt not well at all, so sick and light headed I went to bed early. it must be the spray making me feel this way. Today wasn't too bad, but still not 100%. Did you feel anything like this when you were taking it.
Leanne, how are you feeling?
Bradysmum, how was your little ones nurses visit? Hope you have a nice day today. :)
Fablis, Its great you had a nice time with your mum and dad, your mum sounds lovely doing all those great things for you.
Well, off to bath my girls, have a great night & keep warm.

hi ladies

well I had yet another scan today ( this bub has so many photos already and its only 3cm long!!!!)

The results were that the bleeding i have been experiencing is all from the original bleed, the old blood coming out, so that is all great news. No new blood present, and the bub was dancing away like mad and had a great heartbeat and has grown a whole centimetre since last week!

the Dr said i may continue to bleed as the old blood all comes out, or i may stop and the clot will just stay there ( he said that wont hurt the bub.)

Beatrice - i know what it like - i have been bleeding for 2 weeks now and i am OVER it! I cant wait for it to stop and I can just enjoy the pregnancy again! And i am sick of being in bed - never thought i would say that!

anyway, all seems well, and my sprout is starting to resemble a human in the scans! So cute!!!

love to all

Miche...Sorry about the results...

As for me the journey begins...AF arrived 11pm last night, so called the nurses and today is day 1 so I start taking the pill on Monday...The nurse said I had to wait for a letter from them that will explain what to do next.

Spiral, I am so glad things are going well for you. :D Wow, your bubby is already 3cm. the last time I saw mine they were 2.5cm at 9 weeks. When I go for my scan on Monday at 13 weeks, the books tell me my babies should be about 7cm!! I can't believe how fast they grow.

Bradysmum and Sunnyday, yes my Mum is wonderful. She would do absolutely anything for her kids and after all I have been through in the last few years, she (and my Dad) can't wait for these babies to arrive.

Shajake, glad to hear your AF has arrived. Time to get started!!

Jen : any AF yet ? Jen , I don't even know what fangipan is ?? is it a flower ??? need some explanation on this one !!!

Shakake : yeah... at least .... that's great and remember that we are here to help you in your journey ... all the best ... How is Jake going ?

I'm classified as "high risk pregnancy " , so I'm going for another check in 2 weeks and been told to take it very easy . Hello everyone,
This is my first time on the forum as I just joined.
Some history about myself.
Am 43 and never had children and my hubby is 43 and has had a vasectomy. We have to wait 12 more days for the pregnancy blood test. We have just had our 1st ICSI cycle and were able to get 7 eggs with 5 fertilizing. I had one implanted yesterday and 2 eggs were suitable for freezing.

The waiting is going to kill me as my age is so against me, although the doctor increased my chances after all the blood tests from 1 in 10 to 1 in 5.

Cross our fingers

Evening girls – don’t know where you are all located but if you’re in Sydney, how cold is it tonight!!! I hate the cold weather – bbbrrrrrrr - where is the freezing cold smilie when you need it?

Now for some personals – If I don’t mention you it’s just because I’m having so much trouble keeping up with everyone – I have to read for ages and even type my posts in Word before posting them. No-one warned me how much time I would end up devoting to this site!

Bradysmum – so very glad to hear that Brady was brave for his needle. I hope his fever has settled down and he is feeling much better.

Beatrice – thinking of a tiny little 9mm littleone like yours just makes my heart melt. Hope your nausea has settled down - have you got something that works well to settle your tummy?

Sunflower – I adore your colourful posts – don’t change them – a little bit of colour certainly brightens my day – would love to see a pic of the cool beanies you create. I used to know how to knit but I could only ever knit blocks – didn’t quite get up to following patterns

devilwoman (chris) – welcome to what I am sure you will find is a super supportive thread – congrats on your first ICSI cycle – we are just embarking on ours also so I may just have to pick your brains if you are up for sharing your experiences – I hope that the TWW passes very quickly followed by some awesome news :fingerscrossed:

beckkles – wow what a journey – it never ceases to amaze me the strength people can show when it comes to IVF – welcome to the thread and I hope you create a best friend for Eliza soon :fingerscrossed:

And to everyone else - hope you are traveling well and enjoying your weekend.

As for me, I have had a crappy couple of days. I ended up bursting into tears at work (and I swear there was absolutely no trigger for this) on Thursday. Very bizarre. Has anyone who has been on Lucrin noticed any wild emotional up and downs? I was flabbergasted as I am usually much more in control of my emotions and it was so sudden. Anyway, I ended up treating myself to a day away from work on Friday which seems to have helped (and also seems to have eased the headcold I have had for the last week or so)

On a positive note, I think AF is finally about to arrive. This makes me very happy as maybe we can finally get this show on the road!!!

Sorry this has turned in to a bit of an essay - If I can manage to wrangle the laptop away from hubby I am hoping to be online a bit tonight so hope some of you are out there for a catch up :D

Hi Jen .

I'm so happy for you ... AF arrived . As I said to the other Girls , it's very rare for women to be that happy to see our period arriving !!! but for us , it's the beginning of our the treatment !!! :smiliedance:

I don't know anything about Lucrin , but this type of hormones in general get you feel VERY emotional ... one day you smile and one day you cry for NON reason ...It's good that you managed to get your Friday off...

Have you evening , and hopefully pinch your husband's labtop !!!

Hi girls,

Brady is feeling a little better. He has had a temp pretty much all day on and off, just been giving him panadol and it seems to help. He is very grumpy and niggly, poor baby and has a lump on his leg, but he is in bed now so hopefully he has a good nights sleep and feels heaps better tomorrow.

Thanks Sunnyday, I put the cold facewasher on as you said and it seemed to help in a little, he was cooing at me when i did it so he liked it!! Hopefully the spray eases up on you mate. Your girls sound too cute doing their dancing, that is gorgeous!!!! Bring on Thursday!!!

Beatrice, I dont know what to say except your wonderful and put a huge smile on my face today!!!

Jen, hopefully your AF comes very soon!!!! Dont worry, its so normal to go through those emotions at this time!!! Hoping you feel better soon! and like you said "Lets get this show on the road" its feezing in Melbourne too!!!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your wishes of good luck. I am in Melbourne and am in the good hands of Monash IVF. They have been wonderful and would recommend them to anyone.

It's been 3 days since the transfer and all I wish was that there was some sort of symptoms of it having worked. All I have is tender breasts and nipples but that could be from the Crinone progesterone cream. I did notice though today when I visited my parents and my mother was cooking chicken, that it made me feel queasy but I was alright when I cooked my own dinner.

What, if any, symptoms did other woman have that indicated that the transfer worked?

This suspense is going to kill me!!

Hi Chris, the symptoms I had were extreme tiredness, cramping (felt like AF was coming), nausea and going to the toilet alot more often. I started getting these symptoms towards the end of the second week.
This 2 week wait can make you go a little crazy cant it? I wish you all the best and have my fingers crossed for a BFP!!!:fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:
Just try too relax and take it easy!!!:hugs:

Hi Chris ... good to hear from you.

It was hard for me to pint point symptoms as I was still hyperstimulated from my cycle . Two days before my blood test , I had sore nipples, sore back , very bloated abdomen and definitely abdo pain like I was going to have my periods ... I was actually happy with any possible symptoms , they were all good enough for me to think that I was pregnant... I drove crazy at the end ...:banghead: . I even done a pregnancy teat 7 days after transfer that ended up negative but turned up positive later on !
Try to take it easy ... easy to say though ... if I take it easy I'm bored and then I start thinking

Take care.

As usual I am in a mad rush and trying to fit a post in between all my work!!

Welcome to Chris and Bec!! Chris I found the 2ww to be the hardest part - oh the waiting. I have everything crossed for a BFP for you!! Good luck Bec on your new cycle. Sounds like you have had a very rough trot and you deserve another beautiful little baby!!

I am going for my Nuchal Fold scan at 1:45 this afternoon. I'm 13 weeks today!! Can't believe it. I am soo excited about my scan but soo nervous at the same time. I hope everything is okay.

Hi to everyone else!! I will try and post a bit later and chat to everyone individually.

Hi everyone

Fablis - how exciting! Have a great time at your scan.
Bradysmum - sorry to hear bub was unwell and happy to hear he has recovered, amazing what you miss when you go away for a few days.

Welcome to the new names I see, and hope everyone is is going well. This is just a short hello as I am back on my way to the clinic, this time four and a half hours the other direction!

All was not well at my scan, things are happening but not nearly fast enough and I am now on double the dose and have to be re-scanned early tomorrow. Am feeling fine on the increased dose, perhaps, if I am honest with myself, the bigger dose actually suits me better - have less side effects than the small dose. Looks like DH was right - as usual - Easter eggs may be on the cards!

Take care of yourselves, will check in when I return.

Hi Everyone,
Not feeling that great today, have AF early this morning and headache since last night. I am starting to feel a little anxious about the whole thing. I just hope it works, thats all i can keep thinking!!! thinking is all i seem to do, doesn't matter what i do, i seem to go back thinking about it again. Can't seem to stop :banghead: Not long till Thursday when i have my BT and get all my gear for the inj. I will have my first inj while i am at the clinic. I don't like needles at all. BT for me is nightmare, i sometimes feel like passing out, have been this way my whole life, think its just the thought of it all and the blood. yuk!!!!!! Then have to do the inj at home after that. I did it last time and survived, but just not looking forward to it. Trying to stay positive. I had to get some bread this morning and saw three pregnant ladies in the matter of 5 minutes...........They are everywhere!!!

Enough of my :ecomcity: :ecomcity:

Glad Brady is feeling better Bradysmum. It is so hard when they aren't well. I still don't like it when mine are sick and they are older now. It's not nice at all.

Hi to everyone else. Goodluck Gravel, have been thinking of you!

Hey Girls!!!

Sorry to be missing in action, but I'm nearly all packed up now! We move on Saturday. I'm lucky, Mum's on holidays this week because she's a teachers aide at a school, so she can look after the bubs while I keep packing and cleaning.

Hi! to all the new girls! Good Luck to everyone this month.

Well, we had a huge weekend. Wedding on saturday night, christening yesterday, then mum and dad's 30th wedding anno today! So out for tea tonight. The babies have been grea thru it all. We had a night off for the wedding though. Nanna and Gumpy looked after them while we had a great time at the wedding. Kept missing the little buggers though!

They are 16mths this week. I'm loving this age. They are interacting really well, and developing very big personalities! I can ask them if they love mummy now, and they nod their heads! They don't know what they're nodding for, but cute anyway!

Talk to ya all soon! Can't wait to see how Lisa's nuchal scan went!

Love Michelle

Hey Bradysmum!

Wow, Brady's 4mths. Let me tell ya, don't be leaving him on the lounge or the bed by himself for too much longer, he'll be rolling soon, if he isn't already!!! One minute they're these beautiful babies that stay where you put them and the next minute they're gone!!

Have you started him on solids yet?

Hope you're having a great day!

Michelle

SuperWoman
10-04-2006, 15:30
Michelle, he isnt rolling yet! Trying too though!! He is going through the faze now, that when I put him down in the playpen he cracks it and makes this girly squeally noise, its quite funny and even when i put him in the rocker he does the same, but the funny thing is, when we spy on him he is whinging but still hitting his toys!! Cheeky monkey!!

The health nurse told me to start him on solids at 6 months. When did you start your two on solids?

noah&layla'smum
10-04-2006, 15:38
Bradysmum,

Yeah they say not to start solids until 6mths, but my mum was saying oh we used to start our babies at 3mths and so on. So I started the twins at 4mths, basically because they were really hungry babies. They loved it and started sleeping thru the night straight away. I took it really slowly though, and let them get used to each food for about a wk each food.

But definatley don't start him on solids until he's ready. And get ready for the big messes!!

Michelle

SuperWoman
10-04-2006, 15:44
Thanx Michelle!!

Well Brady isnt really a hungry baby!! And he has been sleeping through since around 10 weeks so i will probably start him at 6 months. A little scary for me!! cant wait to see him in a high chair though !! Oh the mess huh, I will get the dog to lick up the mess on the floor,  !!!

Take care Michelle and dont forget to pinch their gorgeous little cheeks for me please!!!!!:hugs:

Hi girls!!

Well, what can I say?? That was the most awesome experience of my life so far. Our babies are doing fantastically. They measured 7.3cms and 7.2cms and each has their own placenta. I am meant to be 13 weeks exactly today but the babies dated at 13 weeks 3 days!!

The sonographer said they are very busy little bubs. They hardly sat still the whole time. At one stage, one of them was even standing on its head with its legs dangling down in front of it. I can't believe how clear they both were, we could see everything, their little face profiles, fingers, toes, foot prints, their spine and the best part of all - we heard their hearts beating!!

Well, that's my rave... I feel all weepy this afternoon, because I am just so happy. And I think it finally hit home with DH, he was literally gobsmacked.

Woops, nearly forgot to mention that the babies risk of being down syndrome are very very small (1 in 4500) so that was good news as well.

Hope everyone is doing okay. I will desperately try and catch up with everyone soon.... there are not enough hours in the day !!

Ok - now for some proper personals:

bradysmum – so pleased your little man is feeling much better. Every time I see his little face on your avatar it makes me smile :D

devilwoman – good luck for the remainder of your TWW. I have my :fingerscrossed:

Leannej – do you mind if I ask what sort of cycle you are doing this month? I am currently on an ICSI cycle and am on day 1. Have been injecting Lucrin for the last 12 days and have a blood test scheduled for tomorrow to see if I can start my Puregon – perhaps our cycles are in a similar time frame?!?!? Good luck with the sniffing – I balked at that and went the injections instead - would love to hear how you are going with it.

ivfmummy – good luck with your forthcoming cycle :fingerscrossed:

fablis – how exciting your scan must have been – seeing two littleones on the screen – too exciting for words – congratulations .

gravel – how are you going with your increased meds? any closer to a pick-up?

sunnyday – I hear you on the blood test front. I have blood regularly taken from my hands now as they have so much trouble getting it from my “weird” veins (that comment made me feel really special – not – lucky I love all the nurses at my clinic so much or I would have been offended!). I really hope the start of your cycle is smooth. Just remember to breathe during your injections – I find this helps me a lot.

Beatrice – that walk on the beach sounds wonderful – I hope to be doing that when my holidays start too – sorry to hear about the most recent bleeding – keep looking after yourself – hope your dinner was lovely.

Well – as I have already mentioned, AF is finally here. Now the fun starts. Feeling quite good about this next stage although am still feeling quite irrationally emotional. I hope this passes.

On a side note, I became an aunty again yesterday. Welcome to the world my gorgeous first nephew Matthew . Thank you for sparing your mum any stitches even if you weighed in at a hefty 10pound 1ounce.

I really hope everyone is doing well. Not long now until the Easter Bunny arrives – I’ll take any excuse for chocolate!!!

Take care

Good Morning Everyone!
Yes got my bag of goodies yesterday!!! Yipppeeeee LOL :smiliedance:
Met my IVF Patient Coordinator (Nurse) Sharon, she was really nice.....
Of course I was a dill and forgot my medicare and medibank private cards at home.... but all the info was there in my file anyway, so not too much of a drama.... just didn't win any friends at reception LOL But all is good! Hubby took part of the day off and we stopped off on the way home to have a nice lunch to celebrate..... I had a couple of glasses of wine (my last hurrah LOL) and of course I wanted to sleep the rest of the arvo hehehe. So from this Sunday no more alcohol or caffeine.... maybe just a little chocolate lol My IVF nurse said to try to cut out any alcohol and caffeine whilst on this treatment :shame: .... I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.... Did anyone else have to cut out caffeine? I am not worried about cutting out alcohol as I had planned to anyway.... but I love my tea or coffee in the morning LOL :banghead:
I start the nasal spray on the 16th April (Easter Sunday) and then stop the pill on the 20th.... and then there is a blood test on the 26th April..... so it is all happening!!
Have a great day everyone!!! And thanks for all your good wishes!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry that I've been away from the action for a few days...There's just too much to catch up on so I'll update you all instead.

I've been on the pill since Monday and have had nothing but headaches and nausea since then ( I forgot that this is why I hated taking the pill), but I feel aweful. I'm fine until I eat something. I had this same feeling when I was pregnant with Jake.

So I'm just counting down the days till I can stop taking the pill.

Did anyone else experience that or is it just me?

Anyway I'm sure it's going to be a busy weekend for everyone, so happy easter to everyone in case I'm not for a few days. We have a big family dinner tonight, tomorrow night and Friday night so I'm not sure if I'll be up to getting online.

Speak to you all a little later today.

Greetings fellow travellers!

Babybernie - Yay :smiliedance:, glad to hear you are now ready to go, and congrats on the birth of your nephew. Hope you get loads of chocs and treats for Easter. Thanks for asking, the increased meds really seem to agree with me and all the side effects I was feeling on the small dose seem to have disappeared - how strange is that?! I now have six or seven follicles trying really hard to grow - the largest is nearly ready to be emptied but my FS wants to stretch it a few more days so the others can play catch up... Am travelling again on Friday for a re-scan on Saturday. Suppose I will find out then when the action starts :fingerscrossed:.

IVFMummy - What a great day to start sniffing - if you find the taste nasty you can always get rid of it with a few kilos of chocs! Good luck with it. I confess to treating myself to two cups of real tea a day. The rest of the day I try to stick to decaf. My clinic has not told me to give up, but I would like to swap to decaf completely sooner rather than later.

Beatrice - Glad your night out went well, even if you couldn't enjoy the food - you poor thing! Am sure it will pass soon and you can make up for lost time. I hear you when you talk of food in France - would love to picnic again in one of the parks in Versailles with a chunk of bread, ripe cheese and a bottle of wine - just watching the world go by! How romantic is your homeland...

Devilwoman - Hi, and goodluck with your 2ww :fingerscrossed:.

Fablis - What great news, what a fantastic day you must have had!

Sunnyday - Please try not to feel anxious :hugs: , I try to think of it as giving it my best shot - for me, doing something is better than doing nothing. I also get emotional at times, but, for example, when my follicles finally behave and start growing, I will regard that as a victory to celebrate, then I can concentrate on the next challenge, my EPU. I suppose we all have a story and a way of coping, but honestly you couldn't be in a better place than this thread for support and help. Chin up, will be thinking of you on Thursday.

To everyone else, have a fantastic evening. It is bitterly cold down south, snow on the mountains and all that. Am out tonight for a meal with DH and some of his work colleagues, hope its a casserole, or something warm!

Take care!

Hi Shajake

Can't stand the pill! Made me very sorry for myself, huge breasts, spotty, miserable, weight gain, headaches, and so on. Don't remember any nausea though. Can't believe I actually suffered it for a short time in the name of contraception - - if only we knew then what we know now...

Really hope you feel better soon :hugs: , maybe in a couple of days when your system gets used to it, it won't be so bad.

Have a super family dinner.

All the best,
Patricia

Gravel : have a great evening as well ...:chef: , something to warm you up ... Glad to hear that you are tolerating he higher dose of hormones ... .

I've been feeling so low today, and feeling so sick .. don't know what to do ... I've been crying all afternoon ( must be the hormones playing up on me ! ) ... feeling not well , not myself ... I'm at the same time so happy to be pregnant but feeling so awful at the same time. Hope I'll be better tomorrow .. sorry to be a winger ...

Hello everyone

It's been a while since I've popped in and I've just been catching up on all your posts. I can't believe what a busy thread this is, it's fantastic :D

DH and I saw our fertility doctor last week and he is confident that he can get us pregnant, which is good to hear. He said that last time there was a problem because I got OHSS during the IVF cycle, which meant that they didn't want to risk a fresh embryo transfer at that stage as it could have put me in hospital or even killed me. Eeeek! I know I was really sick at the time, I didn't realise it was that bad! Apparently although he had me on a slightly lower dose of puregon than is usual for my age my body reacted as if I was 28 not 38 according to him (nice to know I'm so youthful :) )

Anyway, all this meant that all our embryos were frozen and we ended up having the three frozen embryo transfers that failed. The doctor said that frozen transfers have a lower success rate than fresh and he is going to put me on a lower dose of puregon this time to avoid OHSS so we can have fresh embryos transferred.

I rang the clinic the next day and they couldn't get us in to sign papers (and hand over our life savings :( ) until next Thursday. As AF was due on Monday this week (10 April) I asked if it would be possible to start this cycle. She said that if Monday is Day One then paper signing day would be day 11 and we could probably start this cycle.

Unfortunately AF decided to arrive early, last Friday (7 April), and I suspect this means I will have to wait another cycle. But never mind.

I was looking back at my schedule for the last IVF cycle coincidentally 7 April 2005 was day one so it would have a nice symmetry if we could do it this cycle. And my first BT was on day 13 so that would be after paper signing.... you never know!!!

So sorry about the long post but I had lots to say. I hope you have all been keeping well :smiliedance:

Bye!!!

At the end , and specially after the trigger injection I was nauseated , headache , sore abdomen and sore nipples... ( but I ended up being hyperstimulated so I might be good to see what the other Girls are telling you ).
Good luck for tomorrow ...:fingerscrossed:

babybernie : good on you too :smiliedance: , it's all happening today !!! How did you go ??? did your Dh did it for you or you did it your self ? can't wait for friday to see what's happening !!! :fingerscrossed:

Morning everyone,

Hope everyone is well today.

I Started my injections yesterday. My nurse said that it would be the synarel giving me the headaches and to take some panadeine for them. Yesterday and the day before nothing would make them go away, I almost felt sick driving to the clinic. Last night about 5, it eased off a little. I have been taking panadeine every 4 hrs to keep the pain away. They are like migrane headaches. Not very nice at all. Right now though i am feeling not too bad with then, which is good :) . I actually feel like doing things. I gave myself the first inj yesterday, which wasn't too bad. They don't really hurt just stings a little after. It's just the thought of it all that i don't like. But i am fine with it. I did it myself again this morning. I am on puregon 300. I have started to feel it a little already. My tummy inside is sort of like little pains type thing. My body feels everything. I think it is because i am a small person, i feel it all right away. I suppose everyone feels it differently.:ecomcity: :ecomcity:
Beatrice, Hope your feeling better, it must be so hard being away from your family, but atleast you can send photos and talk by phone, i don't know if i would cope without my family as we are all fairly close, but stay happy, think of that beautiful baby that you have in your tummy!!!
Bradysmum, Hi, thankyou for asking about me, feeling ok, i am feeling so positive now, i am feeling and hoping this is going to work for us this time. Just wish headaches would go away.
ivfmummy, I too have a cup of normal tea each morning, but after that i just have the decaf tea. Yesterday with my headache i had to have a normal cup of tea, couldn't help it. I have been trying to eat healthier with salads and vegies everyday, trying not to have takeaway food, well junk takeaway, just go for the healthy things.
Shajake, You've started on the pill. I don't like taking that pill either. It gives me headaches and i also felt sick in stomach with it. I couldn't wait to stop taking it. Come to think of it the headaches were only when i first started taking it and then maybe the last couple of days before i stopped, so hopefully it will settle down for you as well. Take care and look after yourself.
Babybernie, you too started inj same day as me, so we are up to same stage. Do you know the diff between the puregon and Gonal F. I too am doing ICSI with blastocyst.
Hello to everyone else hope you all have a great Easter & get lost of chocolates.

Hi all :)

Yeppers - I did the injections all by myself - I just find it easier that way - they didn't hurt but not having used the Gonal F pen before, I was a bit worried that I hadn't given myself the correct dose - when I was taking puregon (50), the pen extended by about 1cm and it does the same for my Gonal F (150) dose - oh well - I'm sure it's fine.

Hey sunnyday - it looks as though you are at the same stage as leannej and I (started injecting on Thursday) :D

leanne - you mentioned you received an Easter Egg from the kids at work - are you a teacher? I am.

Hope everyone is having a lovely and restful start to the weekend. Take care all.

Sunnyday : WELL DONE for your injection Sunnyday ...:smiliedance: , It looks like your headache is giving you a hard time poor thing ... try to keep up with the panadeine and hope it helps a bit ... Your body is reacting very fast to the drugs ... take it easy ....

babybernie : again , well done for your injection last night ...:smiliedance: . That was my fear too when I was using Gonal pen : not to give myself the quantity , but you can actually see the plunger moving when you push , not a lot but a bit ...thought that helped !!!

It looks like 3 of you Ladies have started the injection the same day ... that's exciting !!! :D

Well , keep sniffing at stabbing Ladies ... your doing a great job !!!

Beatrice: i havent taken my injection again today, as it is only once a day and they recomend i do it in the evening. i have decided to do it at 7.30 each night. last night when i went to bed i felt a bit funny in the tummy and very tired. but i was probably more tired from work then anything.
me and dh was also unsure if we got it all or not. so tonight i will watch to see if i can see the plunger move.

:ecomcity: Hi everyone,
Hope everyone has had a nice restful day. I have. Haven't done all that much at all, didn't want to overdo it incase the headache comes back. Has a little nap this afternoon and just watched tv.

Beatrice, YEYYYYY!! I did it myself :smiliedance: very proud of myself. How are you feeling. Thought i'd let you know that i have been to Paris before. Where abouts did you live in France.

Well we are all up to the same day, Leanne & Jen, wow how exciting!!! Its good to have someone to go throught this with. Lots of someones....

So, I was just reading about the Gonal F, is it different to the puregon? I use the puregon pen to inject and you set the dosage prior to giving the inj. I think it is fairly easy to do, just got to get up the courage each time to actually do it.

Jen, you said you previously had puregon 50, this is a fairly low dosage isn't it? or have i got it wrong. I'm actually on 300 puregon this time. This seems alot to me as last time was on 250. They were going to put me on 350 this time, but changed their minds. Are you having any effects from it yet? I'm doing my injections in the mornings.

I'd better not write anymore, my posts are always so so long.:ecomcity:
Thankyou all so much for being here and caring.

Have a great night all!!!

Evening all,

leannej - I teach a Year 5/6 composite. They can be a challenging buch of pre-adolescents but I adore them - there is never a dull moment - they are a funny bunch

sunnyday - the 50 dose of Puregon is very low - my IVF Doctor had me on that because as far as we know I have regular ovulation - we are pretty sure our issue is male factor - I didn't have many side-effects on the 50 dose but I must admit, I am feeling some odd pains in my tummy this time around on the 150 Gonal F- I'm taking that as a sign that things are happening - I am going through IVF Aust. South - how about you?

Does anyone know if the doses of Puregon and Gonal F are equivalent? (ie does 150 Gonal F equal 150 Puregon?) - just out of curiosity

Will be around tonight if anyone is up for a chat :)

hi jen, well our cycles must be a little different in how things are done. coz i have a blood test and a scan to see how many folicls are developing on thurs. and i have been told to do the injec for 12 days. and hopefully epu will be around the 26th april.
so it will be interesting how close everything is going to be.

beatrice - you are an absolute sweetheart - thank you for worrying about me :)

Yeppers - I watched the plunger and it definitly moved down - so I am not feeling too stressed about it - I was just suprised - I had it in my head that because this dose would be three times as much as I have used previously that this needle would be so much more difficult - but it hasn't been - I am going to just convince myself that I am doing everything right and if not I am sure the BT on Friday will let me know

thank you again - that was a very sweet thing to do :)

babybernie
14-04-2006, 22:08
leanne - I'm not 100% sure about the scan - that may happen for me too but I know I will definitly have a BT - my understanding is that I will continue with the gonal F until the eggs are ready - could be nine days worth of injections, could be 20 - when I had my IUI's the first one I was ready after 10 days of injections and the second one took 14 days of injections (puregon)

I'm really hoping that I get to an EPU sometime before school holidays finish - but have learnt that things don't always go how I want them to in this journey :)

I'm looking forward to hearing how you go on Thursday :fingerscrossed:

Hello everyone,

Just catching up from last night, wow you girls stayed up late, i was so tired fell asleep on the lounge watching a move.

I have been out shopping with my girls today & visited a friend. I haven't felt too bad all day up until thisafternoon & my tummy started to ache again. Have just taken some more panadine for the headache. Feel pretty ok though!

Leanne, I don't mind you asking questions, i actually thrive on getting on here and seeing what everyone is up to. I Started my inj Thurs morning. I have an appt this Friday for a scan to see how its all going and then prob another scan on Mon & then EPU should be around Wed or Thurs 27/4. My ET should be hopefully if all goes to plan around the 6/5 or 7/5. Thats if it all works out, things sometimes change along the way. I keep on taking my spray until they tell me to stop. I am going to have the week off work after my ET as i have to have a needle through my lining of my uterus & after this and the EPU i usually don't feel that great, not great walking around etc. So will have a rest this week.

You know, i actually am feeling a little shakey, might go lay down for a bit. I will be ok, will get back on later. Sunnyday.

Hope you have all had a great day. We have been at my mum & dads today for lunch with all of our families which was great. It seems that we don't do this often enough. All the kids had a great time, especially me as i have a little nephew who is five months so we had lots of cuddles.

Gravel, how exciting for you, i am glad everything is moving along nicely for you. Goodluck and let us know how you are feeling.

Sunnyday - I am looking for side effects, that's for sure.... so that's why I am not sure if they are my imagination or what LOL Tonight I just feel nauseated and tired, but other than that I am ok... I don't feel moody or anything, so that is good. Had a busy day as had heaps to do around the house. Ivfmummy, so this is your first ivf cycle isn't it? I always seem to feel everything. The spray to me makes me feel the worst. Nauseated & headaches. Tonight my nose even when a little strange after spraying it. It felt like when you get soap up your nose  But it went away eventually. I CANT WAIT until i stop taking it. I have two bruises on my legs from the inj. It is funny cause of one leg i have two bruises and on the other leg there aren't any bruises at all. Strange. I said to my DH only my fault cause i gave them to myself. I had a little cry this morning, must be the hormones i suppose. I am trying not to let everything get to me, staying tough.

Bradysmum, you sound just like me, when i had my DDs same thing. I didn't read at all for a long while after they were born, it always seem that you don't have time to do these things. You will get to though, your just enjoying your baby.

Sunnyday - Yes this is my first IVF cycle... it is all new and exciting.... :smiliedance: A tip about the bruising after injections - don't rub after you have the injection... just apply pressure for a little while, but don't rub as it makes a bruise. See if that helps. I am dreading the injections although excited at the same time LOL It seems scary but at the same time it is one step closer to it all..... :D

Happy Easter everyone,

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend and eaten many easter eggs - I certainly have :D

ivfmummy and sunnyday - glad to hear you are both still plugging away positively - after hearing your nasal spray escapades it almost makes me happy to be doing the lucrin injections rather than synarel (sp?) - weirdly though my lucrin injections have actually hurt the last couple of nights - I think they gave me a slightly different syringe :( I'm also bruising with the Gonal F (but that one doesn't hurt)

From a personal perspective, I'm feeling in a bit of a slump - I find myself wishing the week away so I can go for my BT - silly isn't it - I think all the chocolate has affected my rational brain :o

Anyway enough of my ramblings - have a lovely Easter Monday everyone :)

Sunnyday : ivfmummy is absolutely right with the technique of the injection ... Take it easy ...

ivfmummy : that is NOT your imagination ... I was not really myself when I started the spray then the injection ... I'm someone who listens to my body , and I had some strange symptoms !!! .The spray hit me hard at the end as well as the trigger injection at the end ...

Bradysmum : how are you going with the chocolates ? have your shared a bit with Brady ?:hugs:

It looks like I'm feeling at bit better today . Don't know if because DH is at home so he keeps my mind off my nausea ... but I don't have to " try to eat " that often to stay away from the nausea ... I'm having the "Down Syndrome " blood test Tuesday and another scan Thursday ... YEAH ...

Hello everyone,
Beatrice & ivfmummy, thankyou for the advise about the bruises. This morning i tried it, even though it hurt putting pressure on it, there isn't any bruise, so it works.

My inj are starting to sting now, it must be because i have given myself a few now. I don't know how you do it Babybernie, with the lucrin & gonal injections. where do you do them? Good on you, you are doing so well, don't think i could do it.

Hi everyone,

Beatrice, I am doing the injections into my thigh. The nurse said to do it towards the top outer thigh and not the inside as it gets too tender. It stings a little bit now after i do it but i think this is because i am up to day 5 (already, seems to have gone quickly) and well 5 inj so far, gets a little sore after awhile. I didn't really like doing it this morning and got a little upset, but i got through it okay.

I have just been feeling so so tired and a bit of nausea & every now and again i feel a little dizzy and hot. Don't know if this is normal, i can't remember this happening last time. Does anyone else have these symtoms?

Gravel, I am wondering how you are feeling, have been thinking of you today. And will be thinking of you tomorrow, goodluck :fingerscrossed: .

Ivfmummy, How are you going with your spray?

Hi gals - hope you are all having a lovely evening.

sunnyday - can you believe we are 5 days in to the Gonal already - woohoo - I am injecting into my belly (for both injections) and I really feel like I am starting to feel a fullness in/around my ovary area. Did anyone else feel this? It's almost like a pressure or slight period type pain every now and then - it's not painful - just noticeable.

My apologies for sounding a bit sooky yesterday- I was having a woe-is-me day - thanks to the gals who cheered me up last night - you made me feel so much better :hugs:

sunnyday - you inspired me to start reading today - I havent read a book since the start of the school year but have been engrossed in a DBC Pierre novel today. I am not familiar with Jane Green though - I think reading is so therapuetic (sp?) - a little bit of escapism does a lot for the soul...

Beatrice - what are you cross stitching at the moment? I have been meaning to pull out my sewing machine and start using it again but can't seem to get myself motivated - I'm by no means a competent seamstress - I just love creating little projects - maybe a visit to spotlight will get me inspired! I would love to hear about your current cross-stitch.

Cindy-lee - yah for AF arriving and much luck for your FET :fingerscrossed:

bradysmum - I hope your gorgeous little man loved his first Easter so much - and don't worry - I found plenty more chocolate :D

Hi Babybernie,

Sunnyday

Sunnyday
17-04-2006, 20:46
Beatrice, do you think inj into your belly help with the nausea, i don't know if i could do it there. im too scared!!!!!!!

Babybernie, It is great to read, i have also been reading tonight, nothing too much on tv. My DH watching something else so can't watch the History Channel, it may be on tomorrow again.

Sunnyday

babybernie
17-04-2006, 21:01
sunnyday - I haven't really experienced any nausea with my current meds - don't know if this is due to having only injections or more to luck - to be honest though - injecting into your belly is really ok - in fact I think I would be more scared of doing it into my leg - at least my belly has some padding (who am I kidding - it has more than some!!!) - I just do my Lucrin on one side and my Gonal F on the other. I have also started to feel a bit hot - I'm not sure if this is a symptom - could just be because I have the laptop on my lap -

Jen

Sunnyday

Hi Babybernie,

LOL, still laughing about the lap top and feeling hot...... No, its definately a symptom, im sure.......Well think i'm sure, sometimes i think i could be imagining all of these things. :) I too can't wait until Friday. It hasn't been bothering me waiting as i have been fairly busy over the weekend, but i'm sure now that i have to go to work tomorrow its gonna drag out. Mmmmm, might try it in my belly tomorrow, see how i go.

Sunnyday

Cian's Mum
17-04-2006, 21:09
Sunnyday : unfortunately , it won't stop or help with the nausea if you do it in the belly or in the leg as the medication goes both ways in your system through your skin .
There is no harm at all to do it in your tommy as long as you don't inject too close to your belly button . As a nurse , I don't like doing it in the leg as there is less fat ... it is generally more painful ( stings much more ) . When I do it , I pinch the skin hard enough so the patient does not fell the needle but only the pinch !!;) .

Jen and Sunnyday : it is absolutely normal to feel pain in the lower abdomen . The hormones are forcing your ovaries to grow big and many eggs ... the stimulation face is pretty hard on the body ... we specially feel it so bad when we have been on pill , as our ovaries have not been working that hard for many years ... a big choc for the system ...
Just careful NOT to take Neurofen but only Panadol ...

Hope that helps Girls ... YOUR ARE DOING A GREAT JOB ... KEEP GOING :hugs: :hugs:

Sunnyday
17-04-2006, 21:15
Beatrice......:hugs: ......thankyou for your great advise. I always love to hear what everyone has to say about it all. So, what have you been cross stitching, i used to cross stitch alot when i had my girls, but haven't done it for a long time now. I used to do fancy work and do little bunnies and flowers and other things on bibs and singlets. They were really cute.

We all went to the movies today. My eldest DD wanted to see The Shaggy Dog. It was good actually, pretty funny. We've had a great weekend, eaten way too much though.

Babybernie, do you follow any diet while your doing your cycles?

Sunnyday

Cian's Mum
17-04-2006, 21:17
Sunnyday : I usually do little things with cross stitches as I'm NOT very patient ... I like when it's small , feels like it's going quicker !!! I usually don't keep them , always end up being a personal gift for someone .
I'm doing a big one at the moment : Christmas time , with snow , trees , chalets, and perle to look like snow ... I got this a year ago and I'm getting there ... slowly !!!
Are you doing anything at the moment ?

Cian's Mum
17-04-2006, 21:22

Beatrice,

I'm not doing one at the moment, i have one packed in the cupboard, it is actually a big one, one i was always going to do when my youngest daughter was little, its the alphabet, but it is of the Peter Rabbit characters, it is lovely, and one day i will finish it. I never seem to have the time to do it. Last winter i started knitting scarves, that about the only thing that i can knit, so i might even get the wool out and start another scarf soon. I have been reading alot though.

Beatrice,

The bunnies on the bibs are, how do i explain this........They are made with embroidery cotton, any colours that you like and you sew them onto the bib. I will dig out my patterns and scan them and send it to you if you like. They are so lovely when they are done and everyone comments on them. They are great for the baby when it is really hot and you just want to have a singlet on them, and with the little bunnies or whatever you sew onto them they look lovely.

Beatrice, :hugs: You are lovely......Yes, just get plain bibs, like any baby bibs and some nice cottons, just a couple of colours, get the cotton, not the wool. I think spotlight should have the cotton, don't know if they have bibs though.

OK

I have been avoiding this one for a while but since you asked sunnyday I have a huge confessions to make,.....

I am already a nappy fanatic - I have a stash of cloth nappies that I have already purchased :o

I know I shouldn't and everytime I go to I have such a mix of emotions - but I can't help myself - I guess if we aren't meant to be blessed with a littleone I can always sell them or give them as gifts to other expecting friends/family.

OK - now I'm going to run and hide from the shame :o

Sunnyday : I have not buy anything yet . Unfortunately , I had a M/C couple of years ago and left me with big scares ... and he thread of M/C that I had 1 month ago just make me thing twice . I went to Dimmeys this afternoon to check on sleeping bags for the Baby ... I was soooooooooo tented but did not buy any . I think if I pass my 12 weeks , I'll think about it . I've been hurt too much .. prefer to wait a tiny bit ...

:D thanks gals - I too feel scared when I buy the nappies but it's a compulsion at the moment - I have promised myself I will only stick to nappies!!!

Now that I have that confession out of the way, I will hopefully be shamed out of my compulsion - goodness knows the credit card will thank me if I stop buying them! :)

Now - to find me a project from spotlight - inspire me ladies - what should I make a beeline for when I get there?

Babybernie, Well I suppose i should confess that i have kept alot of my DDs baby clothes, i mean the oldest is 7. I have been keeping them for a lot of years, maybe i will get to use them again.

Beatrice, maybe they will be rotten too:D

Babybernie, I KNOW,,,,,I HAVE A GREAT IDEA!!!!How about, well i think its a great idea. With these bunnies, well that if you want to make baby things, With the bunnies, you could buy a white towel, like a nice soft bath towel and embroider the bunnies onto one end of the towel.

These bunnies aren't easy at first, but you just have a little practice first and then you will get the hang of them. The towels are lovely to do. Actually i might do a towel.

Wish we could go together :ecomcity: :ecomcity:

Well Sunnyday , I'll be doing what you said to Jen ... that's a great idea .. don't know if it will look alright ... people might laugh at it , but it's personnal and made with LOTS OF LOVE AND AFFECTION ( like the neckles made of noodles by the kids at school !! ) .

:D girls you have had me giggling all night - so nice to be smiling so much :D

a beeline means - something I will be heading for quickly first - not a good explanation but I hope this helps beatrice :D

sunnyday - wouldn't that be good - I think if I confessed to any of my friends that I was going to spotlight to initiate baby projects they would probably call me crazy - the towel thing sounds like a great idea - I will investigate tomorrow - we all have to make a promise to share our new creations once they are finished with a crafty photo exhibit!!!
