Anyone else had problems converting your partner/hubby to Cloth? DP is really reluctant move to cloth as he hates the whole increased poo/wee contact.
He is trying it, but when I say I want to head towards FT cloth, he says he prefers disposables...
Any sage words of wisdom or advice to get him over the line? I dont want to end up the only person in the house who changes a nappy.....
If you're using something like a pocket or a AIO there really won't be that much difference in wee/poo contact compared to a disposable. Alot of dads prefer these as they are simple to use (especially if a pocket is already stuffed).
I use fitteds and the only bit of the nappy I touch when wet is the snaps to undo it. I keep the cover around the nappy when taking it off, and once I go to put it in the bucket I just let the nappy go and hang onto the cover. Easy peasy!
Have you talked about the environmental issues and the money savings you will have?
I do 98% of the nappy changing in our house, only because df works 50-70hrs a week so he's just not here to do it. But if he's here I'll try and get him to do as much as possible which he doesn't mind. He loves them and has discussions with another workmate, who's dd is also in MCN, about how great they are and the detrimental effect of disposables!! It's quite hilarious to hear them:D but very touching to know he's been listening to me.

Yep, had the enviro talk, he is just not that into it and he hates putting the poo in the loo bit. He actually looks hysterical just changing a sposie: tries to have absolutley no contact whatsoever with the nappy or the poo. So it is pretty funny watching him with a MCN! I have some fitteds, but I am heading towards AIO and Pockets as they are easier for him
The good news is he loves the Black BP we have! At least he thinks one part of the whole concept is good! (and yes I ordered another one to encourage him!)

DH converted pretty damn quick when I showed him the cost savings. I started him on BBH, and then bought a few GKs. Now he only uses the GKs! I assemble the nappies every time, and he just grabs them from the change table, so it's very little effort for him.
In recent times though, he has started using the little squirt (he used to just leave the pooey ones in the loo for me to deal with) and does the washing a fair bit. The only thing he ever pipes up about is the "girly" BP I bought for DS. It isn't even girly. It's Northern Lights:rolleyes:
My DP doesn't change nappies. He has put a nappy on DS a couple of times, but that's after DS gets out of the shower, not actually 'changing' a dirty one.
Upside is that I get to choose the nappies I want to use and spend as much as I like and he never notices.
So the answer to your question is....
um, I don't have one, LOL
we have a little squirt which i think makes a difference. but really, wiping bub's butt is pretty close contact!!
my DH loves BPs too :)
and he loves saving money lol
i do all the washing and pocket stuffing but he does plenty of nappy changes when he's home.

Why do you even consult with him? lol.
I TOLD DP of this switch I was making. I figure I'm the one doing hte washing, I'm the one dealing with nappies far more than he does... what difference should it make to him?
If he has complaints about price... well, the evidence is your favour.
I use pockets mostly, and have a few AIOs... and DP has quickly learnt that they pretty much work the same.
He didn't scrape poo from disposables, and he won't with cloth either... but I just take them from him and do it myself.

I was wondering if I would end up been the Poo-dispenser-with! I guess that is not such a bad thing, at least he will change the nappy..

LL, I agree totally, what difference does it make! Seems to matter to DP, I guess I will just end up doing more nappy changes than him, at least it will end the "your turn to do the Poo" converstaion we have ALL the time!

My Dh was sceptical(sp?) when we started, but after a couple of months he said, and i quote.."i was a bit suss when you mentioned this, but i think its the best thing we have done, not to mention the money savings!!" He was generally grabbing the few pockets we have first, but now he is up to boosting the night nappies....sorry this is not a brag about my "cloth dh" thread :ecomcity:
so...my answer is....just do it, and he will see its not as bad as it all sounds...and i second getting a little squirt!!! (they are the best as i am poo squemish too )

I just told dh i was getting cloth nappys and let him think they were going to be terry flats, then he was pleseantly suprised when i came of with mcn. He will chnage if i hand him the stuffed pocked, or bbb with everything in place. I must say he hasn't chnaged as many nappies since we started mcn, because i am still loving the nappys so much, i enjoy doing the changing.. i guess that will wear off eventualy.
I have always been the primary nappy changer so I dived into cloth. Hubby wasn't happy and wanted to go back to 'normal' nappies
But now he is an advocate for cloth even if he still needs help with changing. (Yes he needs more practice - he never folds a nappy - he uses the fitteds and wool covers)

My DH refuses to change them:no: He hasn't changed a nappy for over a year now!
But he STILL whinges about them anyway. Mainly me always wanting to buy them. But I only have 9!
