I am not married, but if I ever do get married, I would want one because I stand to inherit my father's estate, and I would want to make sure that my son's interests are protected.

I believe that people should walk out of relationships with what they walked into them with, particularly if they walked in with major assets.

I believe that the stuff accumulated during the relationship should be what is divvied up.

I wouldn't want to marry someone, inherit my father's estate, to have my partner walk away with half of that, of which I would want to go to my son.

And I wouldn't also want to walk away with half of my partners assets he aquired prior to the marriage.

ETA. Relationship breakdowns are hard enough. Anything that makes it easier gets my seal of approval...
