Hi, my hubby has been diagnosed with Psoriasis and I am wondering what others have found good to treat it. At the moment he is using a special cream, bath oil & shampoo. I don't know much about this condition at all. Does it go away?

it doesnt go away:no: mine flares up more in winter tho. I use paw paw cream that helps alot. Also theres a cream called 'urtica urens' which also works good. Sometimes the doc will prescribe a steroid cream to help like cortisone or something. My hands do get immune after a while to one sort so im always changing

Chickweed compound (not gel). It's a grey paste that coats the affected area and stops the itching. Smells like a burned down house but DH says it's the only thing that works long term for him, cause everything else seems to stop working after a while.

I've also heard compressed avocado oil works well but DH has yet to try it.

I have had it since I was 16 and have tried pretty much everything. Unfortunately he will need to try different things to see what works for him.

You can buy the T-Gel products but you can smell the Tar in them.

I use Daivonex cream (script only) and it is the only thing I have found to help.

Also Diet is a big thing you can get some advice from a naturopath.

He can also not use products with soap in them and fortunately there are alot more available now then when I first got it.

Thanks for the info. At the moment hubby is using Dithrasal cream on the really bad patches, Nourish Psoriasis wash instead of soap & Polytar Plus as Shampoo. When I asked him last night he said that he had already noticed an improvement which is good.

gojo juice is apparently good for rubbing into the psoriasis.

That's good but don't be surprised if it flares up when it gets colder and stress is a big factor too. You also have it in your system for life whether it shows or not it can always come back.

Mine went away for 2 years and has only just started coming back.

Also salt water is great.

Not sure if your DH wants to know this but one of the triggers is alcohol, another is fried food.

My DH is fully aware of this but reckons he'd rather be drunk and itchy with a belly full of chips.

Thanks for the info. My hubby only drinks alcohol on State Of Origin night and doesn't eat fried foods so I won't have to worry about that, lol. The services dr has refered him to a specialist dermatolgist(sp) for UV treatment. Has anyone else used this? I read on the back of the new shampoo and body wash he has that you can't use them if receiving UV treatment.

There are very good treatment for psoriasis.
You see, different people suffer from different degrees of psoriasis. There are even different types of psoriasis, and many people don't know this. Everyone responds differently to each treatment too, so sometimes a psoriasis treatment will work well for one person, yet not seem to make any difference for another.
PsoriAWAY is the medicine is used for psoriasis to my Friend,it results good treatment.

Your very right. What works well for one won't mean it will work well for another. That makes it frustrating as everyone has something to offer and when you say it doesn't work they try and tell you it should:banghead:

It is usually stress that brings it out in adult men, not diet!
To stop itch take phenergen helps to sleep as well as ease the itch.
claramax excellent for easing the itch:thumbsup:
good luck
