DF organized for me to be picked up in a limo and driven to Kings Park botanical gardens where he was waiting with a champaigne breakfast.. Was lovely.

We were in a very busy restaurant in QLD and he went down on one knee, the whole bit. I loved it!! I do love a bit of attention though:o
Then the waiter came over with a bottle of champagne that another table had bought for us to say congrats! So nice!

Hadn't thought about it as he proposed after only dating 1 year, I wasn't expecting a ring just yet!

No thank goodness.

My DH proposed when we were in Samoa.

He did intend on asking me on the beach but because it was raining he asked me out of the blue in the room we were staying in.

Yes.. We had an audience.. My DF got down on one knee and proposed infront of our whole family and friends at our sons 2nd birthday party.. I was quite embarassed!.. I'm not one for spectacle or fan fare, but it was really sweet of him. I just remember him being very nervous.. and then of course DF's good old Aunty having a bawl at the whole thing! *LOL*..

My husband got down on bended knee in front of a very large busy restaurant on Sydney Harbour (the Waterfront) - the place where we had our first date.

It was strange because it really only felt like we were the only ones there until I realised everyone was cheering.

I'm usually not one for attracting attention but it was nice.

DH proposed in front of my whole family on Christmas day. We had all opened our prezzies and were sitting back relaxing when he "found" another prezzie with my name on it, and i had to unwrap it in front of everyone. I still cant remember saying "yes", and DH still says i didnt give him an answer ! All my family was bawling. (DH had asked my mum for permission earlier that morning...and she had to keep composed for the rest of the morning!) DH said he did it like this way because he knew how important my family is to me and it would make it even more special. Awwwwww. He is such a sweet man.Valentine

Valentine those are some romantic stories to tell the grandkids.

My DH never proposed we were sorta forced into marriage and agreed over dinner table one evening, but three days after I had our fifth child it was our 11th wedding anniversary.
I was awakened by DH kneeling beside the bed and asking me to marry him again whilst offering a beautiful new ring (my original was a cheapie). No witnesses but I felt on cloud nine after all those years hearing others romantic stories. A close friend was staying with us and we jumped up and down admiring and squealing over my new ring like young girls again. Think health nurse arrived after that for my checkup so sorta broke the spell then.

When my husband (separated) proposed to me i was 7months pregnant, working and quite bored that night lol.... boy did he lighten my night at work up AND i got to go home early :D

It was actually really sweet the way he did it.

My family ended up hiding around a corner to watch him do it then all came rushing out after i said yes.

It was such a beautiful moment.

I wish...actually i think it was more of a "Do you want to?" casual kinda question while i was sitting in a recliner nursing a migraine one day, not romantic no. But the first anniversary was worse, no card and only a small bunch of wilted flowers. I cried for two days over that effort, but never said anything, i should have...

Yes, it was on christmas day. All his family were there. Definatly not what I expected, my DH is not the romantic type. I cried, he cried (although he says he didn't), his sister and mum cried! It was very special! Gives me goosebumps thinking about it!!

We were on the banks of the yarra and there were people around but I don't think many people really knew what was happening, we did get some nice smiles though lol I liked it being intimate I wouldn't have wanted a lot of people around!

mine was so far from romantic, we had been together for 6 months and i was 9 weeks pregnant and i had spent all day saying, hey shane, ask me to marry you, hey shane, ask me now. just mucking around and then that night in bed he was just going to sleep and i said you really should ask me, and he rolled over and did. i was like holy $hit he asked me! i gave me quite a shock.
we were staying with his mum at the time and we kinda forgot to tell her till like 3 days later, we were talking about it and she was like, what? back up! whos geting married?
it was good to be able to tell mum and dad he had proposed befor we told them i was pregnant. altho they actually took the baby news better than the engagment news.

Yep - about 2000 of them

We were at Stonehenge on the 27th of Dec, thinking it would be quieter (seems everyone else had the same idea) He got down on 1 knee and a couple of tourists stopped everyone walking past us until I said yes.

I think we got congrats from about 200 people - was a very sureal and memorable experience!

No audience- DH asked me "so when are we getting married" when we where lying in bed one night. I laughed at him because I thought he was joking (we had only been together about 5 months) then he went real quiet. I asked him about it the next night (whether he was serious or not) and we talked about it and became engaged. So not romantic! LMAO- I told the girls at work what happened and they gave me HEAPS and told me I was mean.

Yeah unfortunately.....nothing like i had imagined. I always told DF that I would want it done privately never with an audience bc I think it should be intimate....he ended up popping the question at my 21st with all my family and friends around. I knew it was coming too when everyone was calling me to cut the cake so I ran and put some make up on (i had a 2 week old at the time....so not in the mood for parties and make up) and he help my hand and i knew i just knew it was coming.....and then everyone just crowded us and we barely got a hug together! :(

We were kids, both 18 and soo in love. I had gone to DH's place because my family was driving me crazy, and DH comforted me as I was quite upset. And then all of a sudden, he grabbed me by the hand and took me to the end of his street where there was an electricity box thing, he lifted me up on there and proposed, it was soo sweet:kiss: he was planning something more romantic, but felt compelled not to wait any longer. We went back and told his family, and I didn't tell my mum for a couple of days and my dad for about a week because I was embarrassed about it and they thought we were too young. Well, here we are approaching 6 years of marriage and happy as everValentine

DH proposed to me on our 18 month anniversery in May 2005 i was 7 months pregnant with DD. He took me to lonestar for dinner as that's where we had our first date then took me to a beach and while i was looking at the dark sky, the water crashing in and counting the coal ships these arm's came around me and i looked down and he was holding a box with a ring in it and then asked if i would marry him and i said you have to get down on one knee haha and he said just answer me and i screamed YESSS finally LOL been waiting for a while for it, you know all that hinting we do lol. I was just sick of being JUST the GF when i was pregnant with his child and been together a while and wanted to be with him forever. Noone was watching it was 10 pm at night it was really nice though, & DD agreed she kicked around the whole time  We got married 28th October 2006. Im glad we didn't have an audience i would have killed him if he did that to me.

When we were at the Delta Goodrem concert in Newcastle the band that was on before Delta, the lead singer of that band asked his GF to marry him in front of the PACKED Entertainment centre, She was in the front row in front of him and we all yelled out what did she say and he said she said NO  to this day i wonder if he was kidding, i hope she really didn't say no. I did think it was amazing though, but i felt upset when he said she said NO.

my DH proposed on one knee in a beautiful park on our way to dinner on a night when i was sooo buggered from work! he wanted to go for a walk before we met friends for dinner. he was really nervous and i realised just beforehand that he was madly fiddling with something in his jacket pocket. it was the ring box. i said yes, we met the friends (who were in on it) and had a wonderful dinner together.
we married in the same spot 10 months later with a string quartet etc. it was beautiful!
Ahhhh memories!!!:crying:
oh and we didnt have an audience, it was almost dark and winter and those with any sense were indoors!!

My DH & I were living in Darwin at the time & my mum & Dad & best friend were flying up from Adelaide for my 21st Birthday.

My Dad only arrived the night before my birthday & DH Met him for the first time. I had things to do that day - hair nails etc & apparently DH went & saw my Dad again & asked his permission! He also asked my mums!

The morning of my 21st he woke me up at the crack of dawn to say happy birthday - he got me up out of bed & took me in thr car & said he was taking me to get my birthday present & see the sun rise on my special day.

We sat on the beach & watched the beautiful sunrise over the ocean & i told him how lucky i was to have him & im glad i was sharing my 21st with him.
DH said "will you spend the rest of your life with me & make me the happiest man?"
In a shell he had just a (quite large!) diamond & said "will you marry me?"

Of course i said yes & jumped on him & Kissed him & hugged him! There were just a few people walking their dogs that saw - they were smiling & clapping. It was just perfect!

A few days later we went & designed the ring together & then when it was ready he got on his knee again to put it on my finger!

He's such a sweety pie & i love him oodles :)

You ladies sound like you have romantic Hubby's too - made me all mushy!!!!

Nope, just the two of us, we had been living in our new home for about 1 year and I came home from work to be presented with a seafood dinner and candles and wine....he said after dinner " I have a present for you but you have to find it" So I searched the whole house, he gave up in the end and pulled a ring box out of his pocket and sat me on his knee, and said "Marry Me"

We have been married now for nearly 4 years:hugs:

I know! And my Dad's not the easiest of men to get to know - he can be quite abrupt & blunt. Most Dads are with their daughters though arent they? Especially when it comes to a male in their life! And to make it worse, DH is a sailor in the Navy - and unfortunatley Sailors dont have the best reps LOL!

Now though, my Dad thinks the sun shines out of DH's bum! Its so sweet!
