Hi Ladies,

Im so confused!! When I first started BF I hated it!! I counted the days till I was back at uni (which will be July) and then I could stop. BUT now as july approaches I dont want to stop!!!

I have nervous feelings about BF a 1yr old + though, I dont know why! I feel like a little person walking up to my boob seems strange!! :o

How much do u find ur bubs drink while on solids?

DD will be 7mths old when I go back to uni full-time in July. Im thinking I would just express the 3days im away from her and then she would drink that milk the next day

I dont think my DH is crash hot on the idea.....only b/c I havent been "intrested" in him , which I put down to BF and not feeling like a sexy person, more like a milk maker... hehe. But he doesnt really weigh on my decision, sorry dh!! LOL..

Does anyone else work/study away from bub during the week and still BF? How do u find it?

Hi Angelzara,

I can not help on the breastfeeding back at work or study. I thought I would say thought that I do understand your ambivalent feelings about breastfeeding a 1+ year old.

I had very mixed feelings, I loved it for her sake, because she loved it. I did not feel comfortable myself about feeding a three or four year old and sort of worried about what the impetus to end it would be.

I breastfed until Aoife was 21 months however for the last 6 months she was on an evening feed only. From about 12 months on, I started cutting out a feed every month or so. In the end, she had her evening feed and loved that.

I had friends staying with me after Christmas and used that visit to change her night time routine so that she played with Neill, my mate, rather than had a breastfeed after her bath. It worked fine.

You will find a way to do as much or as little as you want to do. I would not stress about that aspect of it.

I think if you don't want to stop- then don't! It's great breastfeeding after 12 months :D You feel so proud when that little kid walks up to your boobies :D

Although it is up to you to make the last decision! Good luck!

Firstly, you have ages to worry about feeding a 1year old +... cross that bridge when you come to it! Who knows how you will feel in a couple of weeks, let alone months :)

I am a studying, breastfeeding mumma, so hopefully I can help! I have been at uni 2 days a week since bub was 4 months old (she is now 7 months). I pump whilst at uni. It's amazing how quickly I can get a letdown listening to a borning lecture  I use a manual pump, so it is quiet, and I use a jacket or blanket over my shoulder so no-one can see. Only the person next to me really notices. I don't get enough milk for both the feeds she needs at daycare though, so I pump every other evening at home to make sure I have enough for her. It has just become part of my routine, so it isn't that much of a hassle.

I love the fact that I am still breastfeeding her, as it helps me still feel connected to her when she is at daycare, if that makes sense? It is so good feeding her when I pick her up from daycare - she just snuggles in and makes a face that says "it's so good to have you (and your boobies) back mummy" :D

I absolutely hate leaving her at daycare, but it makes it a little easier to bear knowing that she is still getting mummies milk while we are seperated.

Oh, and regarding how much bub drinks while on solids, it really depends on how much they are eating. My baby doesn't eat large amounts, but she feeds roughly 4 hourly. On daycare days, I send her with 2, 220ml bottles of EBM and she has one solids meal. I think that is alot of milk per bottle (I don't even get 220mls from pumping the whole day I am away from her), but I like to know that she has plenty! She is there from 9am to 3-4pm for 2 days a week.

Sorry this is such a long reply, hope I helped!
