Just wondering, does anyone else's child grind their teeth??
Jett has just started because he has just got his top tooth.
Its so bad, and i HATE the noise.
Is it normal??
How can i get him to stop?
& will it wear his teeth away or ruin them?

I hear you on that one :D dd only just stopped dd9 did it for 12months ds was doing it till he was 2 and dd is now 28months and shes stopped finally just now!

I have taken them to get their teeth looked at and there is no damage there but its soo annoying! Dentist didnt seemed concerned with both of them

Just asked hubby who is a dentist. Not much you can do unfortunately until they are old enough to wear a splint (mouthguard), it is quite normal. :hugs:

Oh good.
DF said he did it as a child, & that his dad does it all the time.
Oh the noise is just horrible, It makes me cringe!

But thankyou for the reassurance.

Tremea was doing this at the beginning of the year. (approx 14 months). I was really worried that she was going to grind her teeth away.

We noticed she was doing it more so of an evening, so as much as I hated giving her her dummy whilst awake, it seemed to help for that hour where she was doing it most.:wizard: We think she may have been teething at the same time. After a couple of weeks she had stopped and the dummy went back to sleep time only.:yelclap:

Doesn't do it anymore.

DD did it a while back.. it was gross. She's stopped now.

I think it's the novelty of having new teeth. Before getting those extra few teeth, that noise could not have been made. How COOL it is for them to be able to make that sound for themselves... especially when there's not too much else they have much control over.

I freaked when DD started grinding... I grind my teeth at night, and when I'm stressed/angry... and I've worn away the sharp bits on my incisors (I think that's what they're called... teh vampire fang teeth...lol). They're flat-bottomed. I also have a clicking jaw as a result and have been warned that if I keep it up, I might not have much use of my jaw when I'm elderly... so I REALLY didn't want DD to start doing it.

Thank god it was just a phase!
