18 month old with dry scalp

Hi,
my son has a really dry,scaly scalp under his hair (he has quite alot of fine hair). Is this because we are washing his hair too much or not enough? We are using Curash 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner which says it is dermatoligically tested ph neutral and says it contains moisturisers. Any advice how to get rid of it?

I find if/when DD gets a bit of a dry scalp that if i massage a bit of olive oil on her scalp & leave it for a little while ( usually while she in her hichair having dinner) then shampoo & condition as normal, i have also found her scalp to be so much better since only shampooing it every second week ,she has very curly hair at the back so she gets dreddys if i don't use a little conditioner every second night just to comb her tangles out ,but that is just on her hair not her scalp.
