I was just wondering coz i was car sick first day ever two days after conception???

If i were a betting person i would not put any money on that statement. I have never had morning sickness and never had any problems with either DD or DS or #3.

I also know if plenty of other people who never had morning sickness and never miscarried or had any other issues of any kind.

I think its just an old wives tale!!

I too had no morning sickness with both my pregnancies and, so far so good, have had no problems with either, and my son's birth was straight forward.

I have heard this wive's tail before but wondered if it was made up to make those suffering terrible m/s feel better and give them something positive to look forward to.

I am aware that it has been said that morning sickness is a good sign during pregnancy, I don't know necessarily that it is an old wives tale or not, my OB has tried to reassure me through my shocking MS that sickness associated with pregnancy is positive in the sense that it shows your hormone levels are rising and may prove your pregnancy/feotus to be healthy/more viable. But then, I have a friend who has delivered one healthy child and is pregnant with her second with nil MS at all. I just think that it is best not to worry as long as scans are normal, blood tests are normal, and that little peanut in there keeps growing!

I def read somewhere that Pregnancy's with No M/S were more likely to misscarry.. Soooo not what I wanted to read at 8 weeks Preg with No M/S..

My Doctor said that No M/S can sometimes indicate a slow hormone rising level.. But on a case to case basis, family history was more important. My Mum had Bad M/S with Girl Pregnancies, my Sis had no M/S with any of hers (she had both) so I was relived to hear that.

As far as I know there is a statistically significant link between bad morning sickness and the pregnancy resulting in a healthy bub.

Really bad morning sickness means bub is happily messing with your hormones, if you have it you KNOW bub is healthy and strong (if it wasn't it wouldn't mess with your hormones as much) and are therefore less likely to m/c.

However no morning sickness dosen't always mean bub isn't healthy and strong. Just that this particular pregnancy isn't messing with your body in that way.

I have heard of some so called studdies on m/s + healthy outcome but I do think it is wives tale concocted years ago to make you to put up with the inexplicable reason of m/s and stop complaining. Low or high hormones can still result in a m/c and while magazines can spruke it's 'better/healthier' I don't think any doctor in their right mind would tell you that your m/s puts you at less risk for complications or m/c because it's simply unproven.
I do not feel it is a reflection on the health of the baby or pregnancy at all. It would therefore mean that women with severe m/s never m/c - and that is simply not true. They can't even tell you exactly what causes a m/c, the list is so long. A very low hormone/s is just one of many many possible explanations. And who's to say that you may have plenty of estrogen and hcg - and get m/s but are too low in pregesterone and m/c?? I'm not doctor but it makes no sense to me at all. :)

I didn't really have morning sickness with either of my prenancies, I felt a bit queasy at times but no vomiting. One pregnancy was successful :smiliedance:, and one was not :gloomy: . I think it's a wivestail!

I think it is to do with the hormones so if your sick it shows the baby is still thriving and hormones are growing as well.
