My DD is 4mnths old. From 2 or so months she would wake at 4am then 6am, for the last 4-5 weeks she has been waking every 1-1 1/2 hrs and it just keeps getting worse and worse, she always seems to want to suck for a minute and that's about it. She is breast fed, she sleeps in her cot in our room, she isn't wrapped & she doesn't have a dummy.

I can't sleep, I feel like I'm losing it, she is demanding to be held nearly all day. I do co - sleep, but I can't sleep well when she's in bed with us.

Any suggestions...?

Hi unsure. My dd is 5mths and since 4mths she has turned into a shocking sleeper too!!

She was never wrapped but I started doing it and it helped. Also I have a very set bedtime routine which has helped too. At 8pm I bath, massage and put her to bed wrapped and rocked. All in 1/2hr. She now sleeps 9pm-230 then wakes at 4am and 7am. So better then she was!!

But it might just be a phase.......................... If its any comfort i think there are alot of bubs doign this atm so ur not alone! :hugs:

Hi, I dont know if Ill be much help but I just want to let you know that it does get easier. My DS is 12 months now and wakes once a night usually, but when he was little I was tired a lot. I think this is one of the hardest things about having a baby- the sleep deprivation. Until people expeirience it themselves, you cant possibly know how horrible it can be. This is the only thing that I worry about with the next one.

BUT it DOES get better, so hang in there.

As for your bub, I am no expert but it sounds like she is just waking for comfort. She needs to learn to be able to wake and put herself back to sleep on her own. Have you considered Controlled Crying? It could be a consideration. I think that giving in to her every time she wakes and giving her what she wants is probably going to make it worse, as she is being rewarded for waking you up IYKWIM.

Hang in there... it is so hard trying to find a solution. Just try to sleep when she does! I hope it gets better soon (and it will)

Im going through the exact same thing :hugs: bubs is nearly 4 months and used to sleep 7 hours then another 3. He now wakes only 20 minutes afer putting him down and then every 1.5 hours! He seems to be in pain. I think its wind pain. I noticed he no longer does #2 as much but has been passing wind a lot more. I think he is getting used to that??? I need help as well.... :gloomy:

hi..i dont know if this will help...i know ur bf bub...but does bub take a bottle at all...my dd is 6 mths and from about 2mths slept 12 hrs at night..mainly because she was a **** day sleeper....anyhow...because she is teething at the moment..and just 2 teeth in a week and a 1/2:eek: ...she has been waking at least once a night for a few weeks......dd loves water.....so i give her a drink of water , rewrap her in a sheet......then back to bed.....i try to do this all in the dark ( with a lttle mini torch light) so she doesnt get stimulated and think its playtime...i dont talk to either during the night.......ive been doing this since she was born....it has helped and she doesnt wake thinking she is getting milk....though when she was younger if she didnt settle after a while i would give her a bottle....hope some of this helps...goodluck.....but like choccymudcake said....it does seem to be getting better!

Thanks for your replies - I will be trying a few different things that people have suggested to see what works...unfortunately the latest issue is that I can't sleep when she is - I've been staying awake for 1 1/2 to 4 hrs at night not being able to either sleep at all, or waking every 15 mins or so...

I just thought I was having to deal with her sleep issues - now I've got my own added to it - I feel like a zombie:gloomy:

:hugs: to you also, this has been going on for a week for me now, I hope you don't have to suffer much longer - I have been looking at the internet for tips on how to sleep better - so I'll have to see if they work...they don't really cater for Mums with Bubs though... so tired...

CC for a 4month old:no:
Even the biggest advocates of CC (authors etc) say no CC till 6months (MINIMUM)

Have you tried a side cot by your bed? It is a phase - Keep in there! good luck! The bf will pay off!
