How much did your kids weigh, and how did they arrive into this world?

How much did your kids weigh when they were born? Was it a natural birth (how long was the labour?), an elective caesarian, or an emergency caesarian. What pain relief, if any, did you have?

My DD weighed 7pound, 8 ounces. I was in labour (gas & pethadine) for 18 hours but still only 3cms dilated so they took me off for an emergency caesarian. I had a spinal block for the operation, then morphine (good stuff :yes:) for a day or 2 afterwards.

Zachariah arrived by emergency csect at 31 weeks due to severe pre-eclampsia and IUGR. He weighed 2lb 12 ounces (1260grams). I had a spinal block for the op and then panadeine forte and volataren afterwards.

Isobella arrived by emergency csect at 35 weeks due to severe pregnancy induced hypertension which left me with bp at 225/165, fitting, in and out of conciousness, on oxygen as I couldnt breathe properly etc. She weighed 5lb 12 ounces (2615g) I had a spinal block for the op and then onceagain had panadeine forte and volataren after the op and was still on bp meds for a few days after birth.

Savannah was born by scheduled csect at 38w6d due to PE and gestational diabetes. SHe weighed 7lb 5ounces (3350grams), once again I had a spinal block for the op then afterwards I was having morphine til the day I was discharged (day 4) mostly because my afterpains felt like they were tearing me apart. Then I switched to panadeine forte and voltaren!

Caleb arrived by emergency c-section after 11 hours of labour. I had gas and an epidural. He was 8lbs 9oz. 53 cm long.

I had my baby boy, Jacob on the 8th September 2006. He was 9lb 11oz. I was 1 week and 2 days overdue. It was my 22nd birthday on the 9th and I had spent the whole week worried because my gynae told me he would induce me on my birthday if I had not gone sooner. I had put on 30kgs and was pretty well over being a whale! I actualy went into labour on the Tuesday (4 days before Jacob was born) and was having contractions 20mins apart. I kept telling my self it wouldnt be real ones and that I was gong to forced into having my baby by induction on my birthday!. Jacob was posterior so the contractions that went on until Thursday were trying to turn him the right way around, which did not work. By Thursday night I was still thinking I was not in labour even though everyone was telling me I was, my contractions had only gone down to 10mins apart but were really uneven. Finally at about 10pm that night they started moving along and by 12pm they were at about 4-8mins. Then my waters broke. I had been told to put towels down on the bed, but stupidly left them beside the bed so I sent DF to grab the towels from beside me and clean me up lol. I went into the hospital at 12.30am. Jacob was still around the wrong way after all :( I was given pethidine at 3am because they said I needed a break and a sleep! (sleep? yeh right!). I then had more pethidine at 7am some gas and a shower, he still had not turned. I eventually finally dialated fully at about 11.45 and gave birth much to the doctors shock so quickly at 12.15. Mind you Jacob turned to the right position at the last second as he was coming out. Better late then never I guess. I was so proud of myself, as I am sure everyone is. I had no stitches even though he was huge. I made the doctors check me over and over because I always knew I was having a big baby and was convinced I would get them. I hope I have not wrote to much for you all to read :)

Samuel weighed in @ 9lb 3oz and it was a 5 3/4hr labour with no drugs.

Brandon & Tori were a c/s due to both being naughty twins and a transverse lie.
Brandon weighed 6lb12oz and Tori weighed 6lb 10oz. Boy/girl born 1 minute apart.

Dermott & Thomas (yes twins again) were born VBAC and Dermott weighed 8lb 4oz and Thomas weighed 6lb 13oz - non identical boys.
2hr 53min labour and 7mins apart. No drugs either.

Zoe weighed 8lb 12oz and was a 2hr 57 minute labour and no drugs. Vaginal delivery.

Blair weighed 8lb and was a c-section by my choice. Reason: tubal ligation.

So um yeah....
I did have to fight the medicos to get my VBAC with Dermott & Thomas and I was determined to do it and I won!
I also "knew" when they'd be born by - time wise- and I was also correct... the Dr's just laughed at me when I said they'd be born by 2pm that day in August 1998.. Dermott was born 1.53pm and Thomas was 2.00pm on the dot!!!:smiliedance:

Oscar came out of my vagina weighing 8pd 14oz (4.03kg), 55cms long with a 38cm head circumference. He came 14-19 days post dates.

My labour was 36 hours of active labour and another 12 or so of early labour and a few days of pre-labour. Oscar was Occiput Posterior.

I had an epidural 3 hours before he was born and syntocinon to augment my labour.

I had a 2nd degree tear.

Used gas for 3 or 4 contractions right at the end of transition, no other pain relief. I had an episiotomy, but only because I was beginning to tear really badly. Weighed 4.5 kilos, or 9lb 14oz.

DD2. I was pregnant with twins. Lost one of them at around 8 weeks. Taht caused a big infection behind the placenta & made me bleed from 11 weeks. So i was induced @ 23 weeks and DD2 was born after 36 hours of labour, morphine & a couple of pushes. She was 30cm & weighed 513gms (1lb 2oz). Was in NICU for 5 months. She is now 3 & 1/2

DD3. Induced @ 39.5 weeks. 10hrs of labour when they realised my cervix wasnt dilating past 5cm. Ended up having an emergency c-section. She was 50cm & weighed 7lb 3oz.

As my cervix were good and ready 2 months before my edd i was admitted to hospital on my due date the 7th of july 2006 and my waters were broken the next morning. Ethan was born via emergency c-section. I had a spinal block, which was so good at the time, instant pain relief. :thumbsup:

Labour had begun naturally and it was 15 hours of active labour before they decided c-section was the only way to go as my body was going into shock!

Since the c-section (7 days now) I've been taking panadeine forte -- however, when I was in hospital I was also taking Endone (Morphine), Voltaren, Panadol & some other tablet that I can't remember. I was completely out of it most of the time I was in hospital.

Can definitely wait a while before going back for more torture!!! :laughing:

DS2 booked induction 40+3 already 2cm dialated induced with gel 7 hours fairly 'easy' labour, gas though the difficult bits 8lbs 4oz

DS3 40+8 2 hours 20 minutes of labour (would have been shorter but he got stuck by his shoulders. Internal and external tearing, should have been stitched but wasn't. Gas though the hard stuff. 8lbs 12 oz.

He arrived by emergency c/section due to being posterior. After failed ventouse and 10.5hrs of labour which included 3 hours pushing, i had an epidural and just a quick top up for the c/sect.

With ds2 i went into labour 4 days before my edd. My labour was 7.5 hours which included 2 hours of pushing, i had an epidural and help from the ventouse. Ds weighed in at 6lb11oz.

With the twins i was induced at 36 weeks due to PE and low platelets and had a VB with a 5.5 hour labour with an epidural, Jett was 5lb8oz and Isaiah was 4lb9.5oz

My DD#1 was 7pd9oz 10 days overdue I was induced after 12 hrs I was not dialated and she was stressed so I had emergency c/s. DD#2 was 7pd8oz, my waters broke at 4 in the morning when I went to the toilet at 38wks, didn't dialate and was transfered to Toowoomba hospital from Dalby the next morning and chose to have a c/s 36hrs after my waters broke. DS#1 was 7pd2oz Was booked to have a c/s on the 16 of july 4 days before my due date but my waters broke while I was asleep at 11 at night on the 26of june. Got to hospital at midnight and and he was not engaged so they were worried he might drop and the umbilical cord might go first so I had an emergency c/s and he was born at 2:29 in the morning. I had a spinal block with all 3. I had my tubes taken out at the same time, So I am finished now.

DS 6lbs even! My first labour was text book! Official hospital time my first labour was 1 hour 48 minutes. Gas to begin with then pethadine, but had I known I would dialate the last 5cm in less than 15mins i would not have bothered. I was 5 cm dialated at 10.45 am Derek was born at 11.03 am.

DD 8lbs 9 1/2 ozs. Pethadine to begin with as I was not dialating so they gave it to me to make me sleep which I did for several hours. Once I woke up I was ready to go. Her offical hospital labour time 2 hrs 45 mins. They had to break my waters for me. My waters were broken at 3.00pm & Ameliyah was born 3.45pm. the student midwife I had stayed an extra 45mins after her shift ended to deliver my chunky monkey. I tried the gas again but it annoyed me being pushed into my face so once I was in real labour I had nothing.

Both 100% natural & I was very lucky to not recieve any stiches. :thumbsup: Next time I would like to go long enough to try a water birth or at the very least labour in water!!

My first born, Matthew, weighed 9lb 8oz. Approx 16hrs labour using just gas. His huge head got stuck and the midwife had to do the cut 3 times without any pain relief because he was blue and his heart rate was dropping. After delivery he needed CPR and it took 3 - 5mins to get him breathing. Scarey stuff!

2nd born, Kaylah, weighed 8lb 9oz. I was induced about 1wk past her due date due to health reasons. Labour was very slow and after 20+ hrs her head still wasn't engaged! Doc insisted I try to push for 30mins to try to bring her into my pelvis once I was 10cm, but it didn't work, so I was rushed into theatre for an em. c-sec. I was given an epidural and a spinal block for the c-sec.

I bled profusely after both deliveries and needed blood transfusions. Am praying for better results this time! :fingerscrossed:

His head was stretched to nearly 25cm with his face on one end! He was black and blue from my pelvic bone from his forehead to chin. 20 stitches. 6 pound 4 (2.8kg)
2nd (16 ) spontaneous on time. 12 hrs labour but really only about 2 that hurt. Some gas and a now broken stress ball. 7 pound 12 (3.5kg)

Corbyn (my first)was....wait for it.....10lb 5 and a half ounces (just to put off other teen mommies). Waters broke 3 days early around 5ishpm contractions started around 12 thats wen we left for hospital and born 7.35am. Constanly on gas and 2 shots of pethidine. Hopefully this one will be alot smaller as DS was always bigger then other babies (he started solids at 4 months) but now hes just tall not chubby:( Not bad for 18yrs old :smiliedance:(and im not a big person only 54 kilos befor getting a pot belly) It was vaginally with no stitches:D or complications

My twins were induced at 38 weeks 6 days, as I had held off hoping for spontaneous labour, but no luck - they weren't going anywhere!!! After induction, (I had an epidural as was recommended with twins and I was fine with that) my labour did not progress so I had an emergency caesarean, and my two arrived safely, although sadly I was under general anaesthetic as we did not have time to wait. Nevertheless, Zachary was 6lb11oz and Ella was 7lb2oz, so a relief to have them on the outside!!:flowerz:

MJ was 3.220kg (7lb), spontaneous labour when water broke at 38weeks, had Gas for pain relief for around 4 hours of labour, but not the 90mins of pushing. Total labour from water breaking was 12.5hours.

Anakin was 3.880kg (8lb 8.5oz), spontaneous labour, contractions started at 40+5. No pain relief, 4 hour labour 7 mins pushing :D

Boof was basically 10lb labour was 39hrs with 2hrs 45mins of pushing. I had an epidural because i had been in pre-labour for a day prior also & my body wasnt reacting very well. I was 41wks.

Squeak was 8.8lbs & we had a fantastic 12hr labour no drugs only arriving in time for him to pop out. Pushing stage although i didnt push as such my body did it all lasted 1min. Im classified as having no labour by the hospital :laughing: I was 42wks+1day.

Emergency C Section was my only option as his head got stuck in mummies pelvis and i was only 5cm dialated... I started off natural when I arrived at the hospital at 12.20pm they gave me the gas first i was on the verge of passin out i thru up only to be 3cm dialated:laughing:

then Pethadine was given to me and within an hour i was 5cm dialated the pain was too great and there was talk of a caesar so i was given an epi 4hours later still only 5cms dialated so into emergency i went by 7.34pm he was out my little buddah chilli pepper lol :smiliedance::cloud9:

#1 - weighed in at 8lb4oz at 40 weeks was an 8hr15min posterior labour, severe 3rd degree tear (bad positioning of both bub him backwards and big shoulders shooting out and myself on a birthing stool) no drugs for labour or birth but had spinal afterwards to be stitched back together. Only panadol and icepacks after that.

#2 - weighed in at 9lb5oz at 40+10weeks induced but no drugs and only 5hrs47mins labour from start of inducement she didn't want to budge any other way. no tears, and only ice packs needed for swelling.

#3 - weighed in at 8lb5oz at 40+9weeks - was in a BIG rush to meet us. labour of 1hr15mins would have been less but she got stuck with her arm next to her head. I had her in the shower at home with some assitance from the lovely ambo's who arrived in time to catch her and give her some oxygen. no tears had a lovely drug whistle+oxygen while delivering placenta in the amulance. panadeine for afterbirth pains, both much worse than actual labour pains.

My second was 11lb 8oz and had emergency c section after being in hosp for 4days, then being sent home to return the next day for c section...

My third was estimated at 4.1kg, but turned out a whopping 12lb 10z, by booked in c section..

Will be in hosp next Tue for my last c section, Im currently 37 weeks and est size already 9 pounds..So Im hoping bubs wont be so huge this time!!!

#1 - DD - 38weeks 5 days got admitted to hospital with PE, was contracting but didn't know it, the monitor told otherwise from 9.30pm, started feeling the contractions around 10.20pm, DD arrived at 2.35am weighing 7lb 13oz. natural delivery, forceps needed, gas and one shot of pethadine.

#2 - DS - Was induced at 38 weeks 5days due to previous PE problems. Waters broken at 10.30am, contractions started being felt around 11.30am, DS born at 12.35pm, hour and half labour, natural birth, gas only born 7lb 13oz, born with wet lungs due to quick delivery, neo nats for 6 days but a thriving boy ever since.

#3 due April 2008, early contractions started @ 23 weeks, on rest so who knows when or how this one will enter the world. I had a plan to be induced for a natural, gas only birth again but proves you can't really have a plan, the man above sometimes plans things for you!! Been told going to be a nice big baby!!

My first (daughter) was 9 pound 5 ounces, 13 hr labour gas, pethedine and epidural with vaccumm extraction, not a pleasant experience. My seconded (son) was induced at 40 weeks, 10 pound 10 ounces, 3 hr labour, gas at the pushing stage, i kept up right the whole time and walked the whole day. they inserted the gel at 9.30 am and i was still walking 5 mintues before he was born. It was the most beautiful birth i could have imagined and he is a very happy, smiley and content baby. I cannot stress how important it is to move while u are in labour. Just think figure eights with ur hips, and tell urself that u can do it. Its what ur body is supposed to do. :smiliedance:

I've already posted in here regarding my first two bubs. :yes:

Bub #3 weighed 7lb 2oz @ birth, length was 48cm and head circ was 36cm - my smallest bub yet!!

She came into this world via planned c-sec due to previous complications with my other two babies. It was the most amazing experience!! The complications with my other two were so extreme that I didn't get any skin to skin contact with #1 until 30mins after he was born, and #2 I had to wait until 24hrs after her birth :( I'm still on :cloud9: after #3's birth. :bee:

Labour #! . I laboured for 23 1/2 hrs 1st stage & 2 1/2 hrs 2nd stage with DD & it was painful the entire time due to me being slow to dilate & her being posterior & problems with a cervical lip, however she turned in transition - she weighed 7lb 11 1/2 oz or 3.2kg. I had gas for about 10 minutes then the midwife switched it off because it was making me to drowsy unbeknown to me I kept sucking on the mask wondering why it still hurt so much! I honestly felt like I was ripping in half (I wasn't) for 2nd stage, the pain was unbearable but once the head & shoulders popped out, it was bliss. No stitches or tearing just minor grazing, bruising & a few lacerations.

Labour # 2. My DS was born via emergency c sec after being in labour for 8 hrs I was only 4cm dilated. The epidural I had for the c sectionwas an amazing relief, I had coped really well with the pain till I got to hospital & then I lost it, I got really nervous because I remembered how much it hurt having DD. My son weighed 8lb 2 oz or 3.4kg. The recovery from the c section was awful, I hated not being able to move, sneeze or cough without an intense stabbing/burning sensation I was terrified of getting out of bed because it hurt so much & it took me several wks to get over it whereas with my VB I was mobile within minutes of her being born.

Labour #3 - I'm hoping to have a VBAC - due on the 5/10/08 :fingerscrossed: I can. I'm such a terrible wimp with pain but at least with a VB the worst pain is over once the baby's born.

DS was born by C/S after failed induction (41 +2) and was 9lb 4 oz (4.3kg). Long recovery time and lots of drugs

DD was born elective C/S (39wks) and was 7lb 11 oz (3.498kg). Again lots of drugs and long recovery but have managed to breastfeed this time for 7mths so far!!!

Lachlan: Was due on the 2nd of November.. he came on the 11th.. My labor started naturally.. I had no painkillers, I had no tearing. I arrived at the hospital at 7:45pm and he was born at 8:30 and 30 seconds ;)

I labored for roughly 2 1/2 hours. Roughly 4-5 pushes and he was born!



Noah: He was due on the 16th of March and came on the 23rd. My labor started naturally again. I had zero painkillers. I had no tearing but a few grazes.. I had my full labor at the hospital. When I arrived I could still speak clearly. Noah's labor was very full on, My contractions were coming less then a min apart but I wasent dilating fast enough. The 'stupid' Dr (When I say stupid I mean stupid.. thats another story) wanted to start preparing me for a c-section. I said no.. he was born half an hour later. He was healthy. But the from a few nasty words the Dr had said to me I was stressed during the last hour and Noah started to stress as well and pooed inside before being born.

He was healthy.. weighed in at 10p 6oz.. My labor was roughly 4 1/2 hours!

Hopefully my next labor ( I am 22 weeks atm) will go smoothly..

My DS was born at 35.6 weeks due to me having Eclampsia ( stage after pre- eclampsia).
Went for 35 week check up and was told i wasnt goin home til i had baby.
I had no symptoms and felt fine but couldnt see what problem was with goin home.
Less than 24 hours later i was induced and after 13 hours labour i had only gotten to 3cm.
At this stage my kidneys shut down and DS become distressed.
Rushed thru for Emergency C-Section.
Knocked out cold for c-section hubby wasnt allowed in.
delivered a healthy boy at 35.6 weeks weighing in at a healthy 7lb 15oz.
After my c-section i had seizures and was moved to ICU and didnt get to see or touch my son for the first 2 days of his life.

Geez!! My bubba girl was delivered at 36 weeks with IUGR- an emergancy ceaser she was 2180g or 4lb13oz. So about half the size!!

My big boy was a healthy 3850g at 39 weeks after an induction which led to me nearly bleeding to death. My first dd was 3650 at 40+4weeks, also an induction and I also nearly bled to death.:D

Angus arrived into the world 10 days overdue. I was induced on the tenth day over at 8.30am and Angus was born a healthy 3.66kg (8lb 1oz)at 1.47pm. I had gas which made me sick and pethidine for pain relief.

He measured 55cm (his dad is 6"4!) and I had a few stitches as well.

The whole experience was just truly AMAZING ... who cares for those intense contractions and the healing stitches!! Bringing a baby into the world is life changing and something we will never forget.

I had contractions for about 23 hours and was in active labour for about 3 so a nice long 26 in total.

I spent the first 12 hours at home, but started to feel exhausted so I went to the hospital to get checked where I was admitted and kept for observation. After a few hours of agony (6 to be exact) in the maternity ward I was shipped off to birthing suites where I was given a epidural as I had rather high blood pressure and my waters were broken.. After a nap and some painless labouring I felt a bit odd and sure enough bub was crowning. He was born at 6:04am

Emily was born naturally after 6 hours of labour and she was 7lb 6oz

DD1- Labour for 2 days, Gas nd pethadene too close too delivery so didnt do a damn thing for me, episiotimy, forceps 28 stitches, 8'3

DD2-Polyhydrominsis, ceaserean, she was 4 weeks early but doctors thought she was only gonna be a week early dates were totally out due to polyhydro so she spent 3 weeks in hospital with jaundice under lights she was 7'10 (huge for a 36 weeker)

I had laughing gas, that I shared with my husband (come on it was New Year's Eve :yelclap:) while I waited for my epidural. I was induced and in labour for 12 hours with no action. Finally my doc suggested I might want a c-section as I was not dialating.
When Kayden was finally born the whole room erupted in laughter cause he was sooo big! Doc said thank-god I took the c-section option cause there was no way he would have fit outta this body and would have ended up being an emergency c-section = not fun.

So funny; my partner and SIL had a go of it too! (after the birth was over though; there was no way they were getting my gas hose whilst I was in labour!)

My little Charlotte Jada was born 2 weeks early at a nice 7lb 9oz, and was 51cm in length (exactly the same weight and length as me when I was born!). She was born at 9.20am, and my waters had broken at about 3.00am that morning, but I didn't start to feel any contractions until about 4.00am. Only had gas, pushed for about 1/2 hour and there she was; no stitches just slight graze. Not bad for someone who was told by her ob that the baby was HUGE and I would probably be going in for a c/s (not that I was against that; whatever I had to do to safely deliver my bubba). :smiliedance:

1st was 9pounds 8 and second was 9pounds 1. The first was a girl and has never looked back by the way lol she is 13 now and a big girl and my son was number two and hes a tall tall boy but scrawney like his dad was when he was younger lol.:o

19 Hours from first contraction with my little fella, he was 7lb 11oz (3.5kg) 51cm long.

I started contracting at 3am, and went into the hospital at 5am, and was 3cm dialated when i got there, then they broke my waters, 6pm i was still 3cm, they gave the drip to induce my contractions at 6pm, and he was born at 10pm, after 20 mins pushing.
Only had Gas.

my daughter was 7lb11 and from what my family says i had a good labour i started having contractions at 2:30am left home to go to hospital at about 4:45am got there at about 5:10am and had hayley at 5:25am with minimal pain and i also had no pain relief so it did all seem to easy for as she is my first aswell :yelclap:

My little man arrived 4 weeks early, I was induced at 36 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. It was mild, and they had being just getting me to go into hospital every 2 days for blood tests , urine tests and monitoring but my liver was starting to go off and since bubs head was engaged they wasted no time in admitting me and applying the gel. I started experiencing contractions immediantly, and stayed over night. The next morning they broke my water and 6 hours later he arrived. I had an epidural.

He weighed 2950 grams, not bad for 4 weeks early!

DD- was 8lbs 3ozs- born naturally- no drugs- but episiotomy as she decided to stick her arm behind her head on the way out. Always remember the midwife saying "oh look it's waving!":rolleyes:
