I didn't watch it but the yummiest caramel slice base ever is 1 cup of coconut, 1 cup of plain flour, 1 cup of brown sugar, and 175g of melted butter. Delicious :chef:

I just watched it (we're a bit behind in WA!) and for those interested the recipe is ...
Easy Peasy Caramel Slice
1) Crush 1/4 packet of ginger nuts and 1/4 packet of scotch finger biscuits and mix with 2T melted butter. Press into lined tin.
2) Pour 3 tins of sweetened condensed milk over the top and cook in 160degree oven for 30-35 minutes and then refrigerate until set. (Don't forget you can buy 98% fat free SCM ;))
3) Top with 250g melted dark (or as suggested white chocolate) and refrigerate until firm (approx 10-15 mins).
4) Cut into bite size pieces with a hot, wet knife and serve.
Too easy!

hi ladies, i made it on sunday.
i didnt like the base, too much ginger.. next time id just use scotch finger biscuits. cooked it for 30 mins, and it was bubbling n starten to look fairly dark so i took it out then, and let it cool for maybe half hour, then chuked it in the ridge for few hours.. then topped with chocy.. let set.. viola! it is quite sweet.. but daaa, it is caramel!
good luck and happy baking!

i only used 2 sml cans as i thought it would be too sweet with three cans. i baked in the oven at 160Degrees for about 20mins as by then it was really bubbling. took it out, put in the fridge for about 1/2 hr then melted chocolate over the top. not sure why yours didnt turn out
My condensed milk didnt turn into caramel?? How did you mum do it Melo??

I found an easier recipe for Carmel Slice it was on the back of the condensed milk tin. I made the one on BHG but this one turned out much better.
:chef: Ingredients
1 cup self-raising flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup desiccated coconut
125 g butter, melted
395 g can Condensed Milk
2 Tbsp golden syrup
30 g butter, extra
150 g dark chocolate, melted:chef: Method
Preheat oven to 180ºC. Grease 18cm x 28cm baking pan.
Combine first 4 ingredients, mix well. Press into pan. Bake for 10 minutes, cool.
Combine condensed Milk, golden syrup and extra butter in pan. Stir over medium heat until boiling, reduce heat, stir constantly further 5 minutes. Spread over base, bake further 10 minutes, cool.
Spread top of slice with dark chocolate, refrigerate until set.
