my little boy, Riley Seth, is 6 months and will no longer self settle during the day, i had the routine 'feed, play, sleep' which worked well, he would show the tired signs and i would leave him in his rocker to self settle, within minutes he would be asleep. Now he fights it, so i have resorted to putting him in his cot with his mobile on and reading a book, then patting him untill he's calm, then i leave him to self settle, he plays for a little bit then starts screaming, really going to town, untill i go back in and pat him till he's calm, and it cycles like that up untill he's due for his next feed, where he promptly fall's asleep on my breast.
At night time though he wakes up to 3 times a night and feed's but won't go back to sleep straight away, untill i give in and patt him back to sleep. He's then up at 4:00am full of beans and wanting to play, then won't sleep untill 10:00am. i know he's over tired but i'm at a loss as to what to do next, should i give up the self settle and resort to patting? won't it just get worse? is that a stupid question? please help me! what have i created!
